I know I'm 2 years late (lol), but I actually really like Hugo Strange's visual design. The bald head, the large, reflective glasses, the gray chin beard--it's all incredibly rememberable.

@@fynnthefox9078 Or Night of the Monster Men, with Hugo Strange being portrayed more as Doctor Frankenstein type villain, a mad scientist who wants to improve his physical short-comings through his experiments, having no concern for the people he kidnaps and use as guinea pigs (His whole jealousy and obsession for Batman could come from the fact that Bruce was able to become such a strong and imposing figure through his training, something Strange could never achived).

Hugo Strange is Definitely my favorite Batman Villain. He's cool, smart, clever, manipulative, and the best Mad Scientist DC has ever created. Also. He's da only Villain who's legitimately obsessed with Batman. He even created The Fear Toxin.

I was waiting for this video,since Hugo is one of my favorite Batman rogues. The stories you chose are easily among his best. Covering his mad scientist and psychatric aspects. Prey is so good at this ,and what it shows can t be repeated. I dont see Hugo as a believable voice for the comunity after this story.. Hugo Strange also appeared on the early 80 s on the long running Rupert Thorne saga;by Conway and others. Excellent review.

Just finished reading the Batman Prey/Terror trade. Really good stories. I didn't know that transference was a sequel to Prey but though Terror was great. Hugo Strange seems really underused. He was good in the Arkham City game.

I have actually read "Transference," as well as "Prey"...but aside from these, I haven't honestly read any major stories involving Professor Hugo Strange. I know about a few certain stories, but I've never actually read them. Thank you for giving us your thoughts on your favorites; the odd three out are all stories I hope to look up in the near future! the only hugo strange story I read was one where he teams up with the scarecrow....only to be seemingly killed off barely halfway through and the story then just becomes a scarecrow story with strange only coming back at the end to get revenge on scarecrow. I wouldn't call it bad per se, but its a huge waste of a character.

I somehow missed this comment the first time I saw this video, but the main problem with the major Hugo Strange stories is that they're typically very expensive/can't be found on online libraries because I guess no one has them for whatever reason.

For all the villains BTAS and the DCAU did well they didn't do a good job with Hugo Strange because in the episode The Strange Secret of Bruce Wayne he's just a glorified blackmailer who builds a machine that allows him to see people's thoughts then blackmails them with their darkest secrets.

They did a similar storyline in the comics but that was done better because Strange was still his evil psychiatrist self and worked out Batman's identity before he auctioned it off and the reason he auctioned it off was to try to destroy Batman's life unlike in BTAS where he just finds out his identity by chance when Bruce goes to Strange's resort to investigate Hugo's blackmail of his friend Judge Vargas.

I liked "Terror" but I think it's more a better story for Scarecrow than Hugo Strange. For those who haven't read it, Strange breaks Scarecrow out to be a puppet in his latest scheme, but Scarecrow is having none of it, leaves the good doctor to die and takes over as the main antagonist for the latter half of the story. Although, Hugo's comeback for revenge on Scarecrow at the end is fittingly and hilariously insane.

Strange Appariation is the one that make me memorable about criminal scientist who dress as Batman. Thanks to this video now I gonna have to try Prey out of my curiousity o o. It's really too bad Hugo wasn't THE archenemy of Batman. His intellect alone could have been dangerous for Bruce, plus Hugo is calculating and cold whereas the Joker was too maniacial even for his own good.
