Thanks Vortex! Very helpful. Very ready for BeatSurfing to have a AUv3. That would be an absolute dream. For now my favorite Drum ap is make a bunch of samples in Koala and then make a Loopy Pro module and import the sounds where I can resize, color code and layout the pads the exact way I want them visually.

Out all the drum samplers I wasted on and I don’t even use, but I happen to use DawnBeat it’s similar to Koala. And it’s free, being that I use it the most it’s a good one. You probably already have DawnBeat, if not it’s free, and the inapp is on sale 50% off now (7$) you get a slicer, few extra samples, few fx effects, and audio unit effects. and that’s all that’s missing from the free version. It’s a dope one. And a good review you can give. The only thing wrong is I don’t think you can use as audio unit, but I just been exporting it. And its always getting updated so that will probably change in the future

do these apps work in the background? i like to have lyrics on the screen on my ipad during gigs using another app. would be cool if i could just have the sounds in the background and my controller plugged into the ipad. nice video mate! cheers

Absolutely! Background audio options have been a thing since iOS 9 I believe :) If you find the app stops producing audio once it's minimized go into the options of the app as there's usually a toggle to enable/disable background audio.

Thanks for the comprehensive video. Do you happen to know of any apps that do drum “arrangement” Like the way arranger keyboards do like the tyros. So you could play Yamaha style files with good quality samples -like intro, variation A B C D with fills It would really help. Thanks

Well most of these drum apps do allow for a "song" mode that allows you to put different drum parts of a song together such as verse, chorus, ect...But personally I just arrange everything on the timeline inside of Cubasis.

@@MobileMusicPro I see. I was asking because I use the arranger keyboards (PSR SX 900) to be my drums when i play live in piano bars. If an iPad could recreate that it would save me a lot of excess baggage 😂

@@MusicmanmarkUk So it appears you're looking for a drum machine with a sequencer, Digistix 2 is great for that. Otherwise you can use any drum app but then apply a drum sequencer app on top of it to trigger the sounds like Octachron.

To clarify, I’ve programmed a song in Digistix 2. When I load Digistix 2 as a plugin in Cubasis 3.5, I want the song to play back when I hit play in Cubasis. How do I do this, or is it even possible?

Not sure if you want to use the midi or audio but you can load up digistix 2 in cubasis and make sure the host sync button is enabled in digistix 2, and then you can load up your song in digistix 2, and then just hit record in cubasis and digix 2 should start spitting out the midi for cubasis to record.

Dear Vortex. Hope all is well. Long time viewer 1st time reaching out. Cubasis 3 crashed on me and will not reload. It won’t open back up. It’s just goes away when I try to open it. The forums offer NO help. I’m scared to death to delete… I have years of work potentially lost FOREVER!! You are the “cubasis guy” what can I do?

Hey Alscendor, first thing to do for sure is to backup all the projects before you delete the app. So go to the files app and in the on my ipad tab you'll find a bunch of app folders, look for the one called Cubasis 3 and backup that entire folder. That will have all your projects and presets in it. Once you've tripple checked that you've successfully backed up that folder by zipping it up or copying it to another device then you can delete cubasis and copy the project files and presets back in. Not sure what could have caused this, you can always try usual things like restarting ipad and closing and reopening app.

Obvious stuff first…you’re tried turning off and clearing memory? What’s your storage looking like? Is it full? I had a similar problem and it was the last song I was making causing the issue….so I moved it from the Cubasis folder and tried Cubasis again and it opened fine. Failing that do as big man said. Hey guys, much love for responding in attempt to help me out. Cuz I’m BIG mad over here! Everything is in that app. I was tracking vocals and using digistix 2 in cubasis and it just cut off. I have not checked the storage. I did shut down and restart a few times. And I know I probably shouldn’t have, but I updated to iOS 16 to see if it would help. NOPE.
