The top can stop at Nui-Rama. This is an entry point rahi, its function is deadly in the kanohi game, it provides loads of cool recolours, including for yhe claws and masks. Speaking of colours, their colour scheme is quite vibrant, fits very well with the 2001 wave. It's a set I never got as a child, but longed for it so much. I'd stare at it in the LEGO catalogs. I kiked the other Rahi, but my family having a small budget, it definitely was a more viable candidate

Lol I might have been stanning too much for the Nui-Rama. Honestly 2001 is such a good year with the Toa, Turaga, Matoran, Rahi and Kanohi packs

my favourite of each size (small, canister, big): - vakama. iconic character, cool staff and great color scheme. just looks wise! - tahu. yes, the boring choice but possibly the most nostalgic set ever and the best looking of the 6 but not by far. all of them are awesome - muaka & kane-ra. insanely advanced building techniques, one of the best functions ever and in general just way ahead of its time

Gali was my first bionicle as well. I didn’t even know what bionicle was but that scuba pirate hook idea just looked so cool on him.

One of my only spectacular garage sale finds was a collection of 4 Toa Mata, Pohatu Nuva, and 4 Bohrok. I was *very happy.*

I was born the same year bionicle started and my earliest memory is the Metru Nui sets but bionicle has always been important to me for as long as I remember. One of my fondest memories is getting Zaktan as it's the first set I chose myself as usually my parents got the sets while I was in school

I actually have something to contribute to the video instead of immediately spouting off about my top 5 Star Wars sets of 2001! While I wasn't allowed to have Bionicle as a child because my mom decided they were too violent with their melee weapons, I was allowed to keep the Huki I got in a Happy Meal. I love him, and he still lives to this day. I'm sorry Ben, I can't give him to you, he's too busy fighting Panrahk, the other Bionicle I was allowed to have because my cousin gave it to me for Christmas. Despite never getting the toys growing up, it didn't stop me for also just oggling the sets in LEGO Magazine and wasting my time imagining what the world of Bionicle was like. And on top of all this Bionicle talk, believe it or not, it is relevant to Star Wars because in 2000, they began producing Technic Star Wars figures, and 2001 gave us C-3PO and a Stormtrooper, but more details on them will have to come in my list of Top 5 Star Wars sets of 2001... So 2001 is one of the years with the least amount of sets in LEGO Star Wars, in fact, it is the lowest count with a total of 10 set released in 2001. Phantom Menace hype had kind of died down, although it was finally coming to home video, specifically DVD with a few extended scene, and Attack of the Clones was coming next year, so a lot of work was probably being put toward that movie's set, but that doesn't mean we still don't have some good stuff in 2001. I also am only missing two sets and they're the most expensive, so if I were able to go back in time, I'm absolutely picking up 10018 Darth Maul, because he's my favorite character and I'm into display crap these days, and 10019 Rebel Blockade Runner because it looks like it makes for a great UCS set. Both Maul and the Blockade Runner have ballooned in price over the years, Maul because he includes 4 rare pieces that were only ever in one other set where there was only one copy of that part, so it's not hard to build him, but accurately costs a fortune. The Blockade Runner is probably a better display piece, way more iconic to the general public, but the parts could be yellowed and the stickers cracked, so I pretty much would have to buy new to avoid that, and that's pretty much impossible. Okay, the list, I'm just gonna rank the ones I own and have experience with since I've already said what I'd do in order to complete the year. *8. 7106 Droid Escape* Pretty simple, a nice way to get R2-D2 and C-3PO if you didn't have them yet. Some neat printed parts, but ultimately not the most exciting set. Was great as a Stocking Stuffer or Easter gift though. *7. 7126 Battle Droid Carrier* Also fairly simple, it's a nice army booster for 7184 Trade Federation MTT from a year before, and it's the first appearance of a Battle Droid Pilot. The main issue I have with this though is how the droids are in the racks. They clip in from the arms onto lances, and it would have just been a lot easier if it were like 7662 Trade Federation MTT from 2007 with their feet just on studs. The MTT of 2000 did the same arms on lances thing, and it allows them to hang, but it's a bit more trouble to remove them, so in this case, accuracy kind of hurts. *6. 7146 TIE Fighter* Believe it or not, this is the first set to include a standard Stormtrooper in LEGO Star Wars despite the box art depicting one from 1999. Scout Troopers were actually the most common Imperial at the time. It's simple, does it's job, but I think I most appreciate that the TIE Fighter comes with a landing spire, which is how I thought TIE Fighters were stored back in the day, not hung from rafters and certainly not just plain landing on their solar panels, that's ridicuolous and I hate seeing that. To this day, any TIE Fighter I've gotten gets a custom landing spire except for the TIE Crawler because that's supposed to be on the ground, and the TIE Interceptor is actually in a space battle, not in the hangar bay filled with TIEs. *5. 7166 Imperial Shuttle* Yellow Emperor, two Royal Guards, and a Shuttle Pilot, it's was kind of a must have back in the day. You also have the function of opening and closing the wings, and storing the Emperor and his Guards on a little sled in the back. It's pretty simple, but it really was for the minifigs. However, if you got 7139 Ewok Attack in 2002, and 7128 Speeder Bikes from 1999, and maybe if you got 7190 Millennium Falcon from 2000, you could also do a bit of Shuttle Tiderium and Endor action. I don't think I ever did that though, it was primarily to get the Emperor and his Guards, they're just so cool. But also the set is just a satisfying build to see it come together with all these weird blocky pieces into a pretty elegant ship. *4. 8007 C-3PO* Okay you Bionicle fans, listen up! That's almost no Bionicle in this, but there are Slizer heads for his feat, there's a number of cool metallic gold technic panels, and Chome Gold 2x2 radar dishes for his eyes. There are a number of stickers (one of with applied over two pieces), and that's annoying, and he's more black than gold, but it emulates the black and wire covered undersuit Anthony Daniels wore under the Gold plating. But what really makes this set stand out is the function. Through just a couple of rubber bands, when you hit his belly, he explodes! His head and both his arms pop off like when he's shot to pieces in The Empire Strikes Back, and that's just a very clever and fun feature. So for that and some of the rarer parts, it's pretty neat. But he is probably the worst of the Technic figures line of LEGO Star Wars, so yeah... *3. 7186 Watto's Junkyard* As a fan of Podracers, this is a great expansion to 7171 Mos Espa Podrace from 1999. You get Watto in all his sculpted sandwich board glory, and Aldar Beedo in this crazy one piece mold, and you have the opportunity to build two full sided Podracers with the pieces in this set. Aldar Beedo's blue double engined pods are wonderful, and then the rest of the build is Watto's shop and a trashed Podracer, which you do see in The Phantom Menace, but you also can take pieces from Watto's shop and transform it into the frame that holds all of Mawhonic's green pod together! Sadly though, you can't have both Pods and Watto's shop built at the same time, and that's not mentioning that Mawhonic is nowhere to be seen... In fact, a Gran wouldn't even be made in LEGO for another 12 years with Ree-Yees in 75020 Jabba's Sail Barge, so unless you wanted to make a custom figure yourself and try to build the frame with spare parts you were out of luck in adding a 5th full sized pod to the Mos Espa Podrace. Still, it's very cool to have those exclusive prints and the pods still look lovely as "junk." *2. 8008 Stormtrooper* So of the two Technic Figures this year, the Stormtrooper was the better one, and he probably ranks about middle of the pack when it comes to the figures overall. There's only two stickers to recreate his "backpack" and he is also very stiff in the legs, but there's a really neat feature that uses Onua's Mata torso as a gearbox and fill in a lot of the gaps the Stormtrooper would otherwise have. You turn a gear on his back, and he raises up the blaster, a little wire then pulls the firing mechanism, and if you pair him with C-3PO, you can blow him up as much as you like. It's really fun. There's also an additional orange piece that comes in this set to make your Stormtrooper higher ranking. It's intended to make him a Sandtrooper, but he doesn't have all the additional gear, so it's really just a higher rank, whatever color an orange pauldron would give you. *1. 7127 Imperial AT-ST* Okay look, it's rinky, it's dinky, it comes in a mish-mash of colors, and it doesn't even come with an AT-ST Driver, but let me tell you, no other AT-ST aside from a mini one has been able to be in a walking position without sever risk of falling over if it could even stand at all. Even AT-RT's can struggle to do this. The very simple liftarm mechanisms that slide the legs forward and back instead of trying to pivot at where the joints are on the actual vehicle changes everything with its play value. The whole back also completely opens for easy access to the minifigure, and there are 4 wonderful prints, 3 on the outside and one on the inside. And speaking of the minifigure, yes, it does not include an AT-ST Driver, but you know who it does? CHEWBACCA! In the classic Old Brown, and an easily attainable set, it was a no-brainer. This is also one of those sets that I vividly remember picking up as a kid in the store, it wasn't just bought off Ebay a couple years late to the party, I had this set, demolished it, built new things from it, and didn't want to take the new things apart, so we got a second. My dad even got one for himself just so that he could have Chewbacca in an AT-ST for his classroom on a bookshelf full of all kinds of paraphernalia. If we're looking at this set objectively, it's really not all that great in the long run, however with it's simple yet effective functions, and the memories I have of it and what it means to my experience with LEGO, and also being a bridge to common interests with my dad, it will always be one of the greats.

I never got any 2001 sets Back then the entirety of Europe was changing to Euro, and in Spain the jump was huge, plus, I was just two years old so my parents didn’t get me any Truly a shame honestly, if there’s an entire wave of sets I’d love to have, is the 6 original toa and the 2001 Rahi God they were so good…

As one who was lucky enough to get two manas separately on the after market for a fair price, these two crabs surely are pleasantly to play with! Each controller can hook onto more than one Manas, which has created many a flash mob to kill the toa Mata in my play. The controllers and gear functions truly is a satisfying and effective play feature. Would also recommend the Tarakava for their incredibly satisfying rock-‘‘em sock-‘em function.

I see what you did with mentioning Gali and how that set "hooked" you :D Interestingly, Gali was also my very first Bionicle set, after that I got Tahu (everyone wanted the poster boy, I was no exception), and my mom got me a discounted Pohatu that was missing a fair few pieces, but loved it even more for it, and later on I got the gold Kakama from a mask pack too. And going back to it, I still remember to this day that it was december 6th, we found our little Santa packs (Santa and Christmas is separate in our country), and lo and behold, I spotted that blue canister top with a Mata head, and I was overjoyed.

I might make everyone mad here but, I am honestly not a fan of old Bionicle sets. I was watching reviews of each sets from All Brick-Out and, well, none of them made to say that I want them for sure. Except this set with rahi that looks like tiger and bull. Their colour mix is awesome and function is actually neat. But the rest of 2001 sets, eh, not really. I am more action figure guy because I've had 4 toa Inika sets when I was a child and those sets really blew me away. Sure, no action functions but to have freedom and posing them the way you want? That was great for me. So, yeah. From 2001 line, only those two rahi I have named would buy. The rest of sets, no. Not at all.
