After trying many and liking none I have discovered the Black Mountain and finally have a thumb pick that I can use. It looks as though the Bumblebee is worth a try too. Thank you.

I have all the picks above however I find some of them painful on the fingers till I bought the black mountain thumb pick Its much more comfortable to use.

I’m trying to get a thumb pick for metal purposes since Chris Broderick decided to take his pick clip out of production. I’m thinking about trying the Herco picks and filing them down to get a more precise Jazz III shape.

I use a D Andrea large thumb pick from the 1930’s it’s a nice pick for me. D Andrea makes a current R373 series which I’ve found to be the closest to the one I own from the 1930’s. I bought a six pack of those for 11.99 with free shipping. Very subjective topic. Everybody has a different need from A pick as well as a particular feel they are seeking out . So good luck. Thanks for the video!

How do u know what size will fit ur thumb
@GuitarPickZone5 жыл бұрын
Hey Tyler! Good question, it's actually quite a tough one to answer. The best advice I could give is that the average person would most likely be a medium. Small is for people with tiny fingers and large is for people with bigger fingers. I'd experiment with a few different sizes to see which fits you best. Hope that helps! :)

You can also apply a small amount of heat and shape the pick to your thumb.

@@aperezdeal Tip of a lighted cigarette is best, near the curve for a minute or two and it'll bend easily, then just hold it 'til it cools down.

Do the Fred Kelly slicks run large? I use an XL I'm the Dunlop picks but do not care for them.

What thumb picks are also good for strumming?
@GuitarPickZone4 жыл бұрын
Try the Herco thumb picks. They're good for strumming as they are the closest shape to a regular guitar pick.

@Cort AD810 OP yeah definitely! Bumblebee is very versatile and can be used for both plucking and strumming. One of my all-time favourites!

@@GuitarPickZone Nah they're hopeless for that. You can't rock out with thumbpicks as the strumming feels weird. If you really want to rock you got to have a standard pick. IMO.

@@GuitarPickZone Nonsense! I ordered some Herco based on this video and the first strum up it jumped off my thumb (Every Time!) Now what you can do as I have just done is glue a regular pick ((star picks are best for holding a pick on it's own)) on top which gives enough length and the grip needed to hold on.

every of them is good, it just depends on the thickness of your strings. Dunlop strumming great on 13 strings, but it lacks on 11... On 12, its not perfect but it can work with little practice. I personally found Black Mountain thumbpick best for strumming but I dont using it.

Check out the KZbin videos on sizing thumb pics. Basically, put them in hot water to make them pliable. Shape them to your thumb and then douse them in cold water. Done.

Hi Guys.. how do i order some thumb picks? Dunlop, L. medium i guess and id like to try that Slick Pick aswell, Cape Town.. (where can i purchase in town?)
@GuitarPickZone4 жыл бұрын
Hey George, I used to live in Cape Town and had a hard time trying to source many of these picks. Have you tried asking the guys at Mars Music (if it is still even called that) in town? You might need to ask someone at a store to order them especially.

I don't like the Bumblebee, it moves when you don't want it to, best to always have a solid one.

fred kelly produces a sound too bright in comparation to other fingers, no matter do you have nails or not. I dont like it at all. My favorite one is first one i have try - brown dunlop M. I found many dunlop's cons and i kept looking and trying all thumbs but i still haven't found a better one. Dunlop has a sound that best matches with rest of the fingers (nails or not nails)
