Honestly, I think they should've kept the air walking shoes. It could've been a trademark gadget in his arsenal of tricks and something about walking on air is so fitting for the character. Like, he's such a good trickster that he can even fool physics itself! "I'll Take Manhattan" is my favorite Trickster story. It made me a Selina x Jesse fan.

So so SOOOOOO HAPPY to see Underworld on this list! Has one of the most iconic lines (to me at least in DC comics); "When super-villains want to scare each other, they tell Joker stories." So sad to see James gone with Owen Mercer (my favorite DC character of all times) which was also thanks to Goeff Johns. (I seriously have a love/hate relationship with his writing)

My favorite Trickster story is probably the episode "Flash and Substance" on JLU, I'm sure you've seen it. Mark Hamill manages to nail another jester - type rogue without ever copying his own Joker (probably because he played Trickster on the live action Flash show earlier!). Also, great video, I hope to see some more Top 5 Animated Appearances videos someday as well. Happy Thanksgiving!

Gravity Yes, now that you mention it, Rogues never did talk about that show, I wonder what he thinks of it. I personally really like it though the main Bat rogues weren’t used very much, they mostly only appeared in small roles or cameos besides Joker in favor of other villains

I love BBATB; it's a great homage to silver and bronze age DC, and a great showcase of lesser known characters. It's the only Batman show I REALLY like besides TAS. I've been thinking about doing some more top 5 cartoon videos, but I'm having some issues getting ahold of some episodes. I gotta have em so I can take screen shots. We'll see how it goes with that.

I just wish the show could have used the main Bat rogues more, though I understand that it was to give the spotlight to some other rogues for a change. Also, if you don't mind me asking what do you think of Beware the Batman? I find their idea of using obscure Bat-rogues very interesting and this made it a lot cooler when big Bat rogues like Ra's al Ghul actually did show up. While I didn't really like their version of Harvey Dent, I feel like he could have been a very intimidating Two-Face if the show wasn't canceled

I have read three out of the five stories here; his first appearance, his Catwoman story, and Underworld Unleashed. I'm actually tempted to say that Underworld Unleashed might be my choice for number one. The other two...I love 'em, don't misunderstand, but I'm not sure if they'd be in my top five. Almost certainly they'd both be in my top ten, however. The odd two out are "The Trickster Strikes Back!" and the Blue Devil series. I had never heard of the Blue Devil till recently, and I haven't read his series yet. However, just based on what you have shown us in the video, it really looks like my kind of Trickster, if that makes sense, so I am DEFINITELY going to look it up in the very near future. As for the Trickster Strikes Back...I've been meaning to read THAT one for a long time, and just haven't yet. I should probably get on that soon. :P Anyway, fantastic work again!

One weird thing i found about The Tricksters is the inconsistency in his design....like in the cover its Red and blue shirt with Red and Black Pants & Cape but in the actual story its orange and blue with Orange and Black Pants & Cape.....what does he just have 2 versions of his suit just in case he doesn't like the other.

Trickster is one of Flash's greatest villains, in my opinion. Jesse James is the real deal of portraying the character in a hilarious but amazing way in his criminal career throughout the comics of years. It's a shame he hasn't come back after he was replaced by Axel Walker, and even Jesse didn't like the new one which is very sad for him and as readers of comics, for all of us too. But I like his stories from his first appearance to what is now modern new 52 era. In my opinion, Trickster ( Jesse James ) is the true definitive Trickster in our hearts, even to his media portrays, and Voiced him in animation is non other than the Star Wars actor, who's talented, picks up good satisfaction, and is a true Joker and Trickster, Mark Hamill.

YES! Finally we get another top 5 stories video from Mr. Rogues! This is the series that introduced me to many of my favorite comics and your channel as well! Unfortunately I must admit that Trickster is a character that I know next to nothing about. I don't read a lot of Flash comics and he hasn't had a lot of starring roles in other media. I did like Mark Hamill's portrayal of him in the Flash tv show(even though he seems a lot more bloodthirsty in it than how Trickster is apparently usually depicted) and I'll be sure to check out all the stories on this list. In the future, after you finish off the 5 best stories videos for the remaining "big" Bat-rogues I was wondering if you could do either a top 5 best stories video or a Complete History of Video for Brainiac. He's one of my favorite Superman villains... and one of yours as well if I remember correctly!

Great video. Now sorry to sound off topic, but I wasn't sure where else to put this. I've got a couple of Forgotten Super Villain suggestions. From Marvel, Cat (last name unknown) aka Lady Caterpillar (who in Britain is for some reason renamed Lady Earthmover): A fairly unique Spider-Woman foe who never got a chance to be fully explored. And from DC, Peter Mortimer aka Scavenger: an Aquaman villain who was nearly interesting until he was ruined by what might be the worst character revamp ever. Take your pick. Both involve giant mech suits, so there's a plus.

I have only read underworld unleashed, but thanks to your list, I have more trickster stories to look up. Also, I must agree about what Geoff did to Jesse during his flash run. I really don't know why he did it, but it was stupid and went against everything James is known for. I like the Geoff Johns flash run, but it has many flaws. If possible, do you think you could do a top 5 best stories for Captain Boomerang? Like Trickster, Boomerang had some great stories outside of the flash and grew more as a character.

The Trickster is a great villain, one of the best in fact. It's a shame that the best takes on the character never got represented outside of comics, as it would be amazing to have Mark Hamill truly bring life to this competent yet clownish conman (the CW version, from what I remember at least, was a quirky goofball terrorist, which is...weird (what happened to the no-killing rule?), but could be worse, & the DCAU version was enjoyable but limited by being such a minor character, so yeah - we still haven't seen him at the height of his potential onscreen).

Honestly, I'm not a big fan of Hamill's CW Trickster - he's too much like the Joker. I know a lot of people like it, but to me it aint really the Trickster. It's a good live action Joker though haha.

Mr. Rogues....I have some good news for you! I hope you see this. DC just brought the Trickster back....And it's James Jesse. And his origin has been changed very little. It's in Flash #66, the new series. You should seriously check it out. It's almost as if someone saw this video...

I remember UNDERWORLD UNLEASHED -- an interesting idea, plus it showed more respect for the classic Captain Marvel than his own series at the time was giving him*, as the Trickster talking Cap into bargaining for his soul in exchange for a wholly altruistic wish is what busted Neron's scheme in the end. Sadly, old JJ couldn't do the same for his old co-star, the Blue Devil, in that storyline. Just FYI, but the SECRET ORIGINS series from the late '80s had an all Rogues Gallery issue. It didn't explain how he invented shoes that defied gravity any better than his Silver Age stories did, but they had the interesting retcon that Jesse's acrobat family were immigrants from Italy, so "James Jesse" was an Americanized version of his birth name. Not sure if that remained official beyond that story, however. *I'm sorry, but Jerry Ordway can draw, but he cannot write.

It wasn't (insert Rob Liefeld project here) bad, but it was poorly written and Jerry's choice for internal art was no where near his level... otherwise at least the book would have looked good. Mostly it was not very well thought out adaptations of classic Fawcett characters and storylines, a large odor of "Tom Hanks' BIG with super-powers" p.o.v. of the character which pervades most automatic assumptions of the character, plot points that were almost automatically left hanging lines (for example, Beautia Sivana took a job with WHIZ tv as Billy Batson's private tutor... and the three panels where that was introduced was literally the one time that was ever mentioned nor was she really seen again after that), and the series acted as if it had already been around for awhile ever since the latest revamping of Cap's origin in the POWER OF SHAZAM graphic novel, so the reader is left with hinted at events and character development that really wasn't there. There were a few interesting ideas, but all in all, a bland series. Oh, another bad thing -- Ordway kind of treated it as a dumping ground for characters he'd created while working on the Superman titles that succeeding creative teams hadn't used, so for no real reason we have the demon twins Blaze and Satanus pop up, the reappearance of Gangbuster, and the introduction of Popey--er, I mean, Bibbo's long lost science professor brother *yeeeeesh!*

Based on what I've read of the two, I have to say I prefer Axel over Jesse. I don't really know why, neither are really my favorite flash rogues, but I just like his attitude slightly more as a villain, though Jesse works kind of well as a neutral side character, at least in my mind. I think they could and should bring him back, not really as a full out villain, but more so like that version of Prankster where you could hire him to distract from actual crimes. Basically I just mean more how he is in the Catwoman story really. Side thing, do you plan on doing a top 5 for Abra Kadabra ? I really want to know what some of his best stories are as I love the character. Also do you ever plan on doing a video, maybe a top 5 of Gorilla Grodd? I'm not sure if you like the character or not, but if you do I'd really like to know some of his best stories as he is my second favorite flash rogue, and I find it kind of tough to find info on what good stories he has in the comics.

I don't find him interesting and he's very "bratty". Also, he replaced one of my favorite DC rogues, which certainly doesn't help... Yeah I heard, and don't really care - I'm not a big fan of the book either. Wish they'd adapt some other stories instead, but of course they go for the really famous ones.

@@ezekielrayfield1512 I dislike Damian too, not just because he's a pretty annoying character but also because every time he appears, the crappy Grant Morrison Talia has to appear with him. All of DC's recent animated Batman movies revolve around Damian now which is why I don't like those movies.
