***** You call it hip hop, i call it FIDDLE :) Fiddle style is BROAD. It might not have been country, but it was indeed fiddle :) Irish fiddle rocks too, I love it all. Met a chick that played "classical violin" and tried to tell me a "Fiddle" is a different instrument than a violin... LOL..... could not get it through her head that "Fiddle" is a type of music PLAYED on the Violin, not the instrument itself lol.

Rusty Koenig​ I agree. hip hop fiddle is a more appropriate term. Ashanti's style has developed, earlier in his career he definitely leaned on a classical perspective of playing. I used to listen to his stuff on amazon and cd baby in the early 2000's.

I love Irish fiddle, and grew up on country fiddle. Fell in love with classical when i played it for years..... we didn't get the cool upbeat contemporary songs like band/marching band did, was basically guaranteed to be playing mostly if not all classical pieces in orchestra, and the best shit in the world is when you are able to actually play with a full orchestra, its AWESOME!!!!!! Chamber music was fun stuff too.... and you cant rely on the rest of your "section" to cover your "oh shit I messed up, or (move bow without sound) part lol. When you are the only one in your section, it pumps it up :). I never did much in the way of "solo" But i had a "hardass" instructor. She poured her heart and soul into teaching us, and would stomp all over that hardass english teacher that cant stand it when you use a sentence incorrectly.... She was beyond that and expected nothing less than your best and pushed for perfection... if you lag or show you dont "care" you were no longer in her class lol. Played with the church orchestra for a few years once school stopped, but when that broke up, kinda moved away from playing :(. Shoulda picked up the violin at that point, but got away from it. Got stuck with the viola from day 1 because I thought it was "bigger" and I'm 6'4" 280 lol. Once I had viola, wasnt allowed to switch, because 100 violins and 5 violas lol.

Vishwanathan Jayakrishnan great question! it came from my playing. I filmed 3 live takes of me playing, this was the 3rd one and my bow was just starting shredding. I've tried changing how i play to save bow hair, but its just not the same. go hard or go home i guess.

***** also, yes it's an electric violin. Fender EV-1, nothing special..in fact got it from a yard sale for 75$. For my tone I ran it through a Mesa Boogie 2x12 amp and used a cry baby wah - hendrix model. my style is quite different, I draw from influences such as Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimi Hendrix, and John Coltrane.
