"The market will decide" is one of my favorite tips you offer emerging VO artists. For too long I tried to force the market to hire me for the voice I thought they would want, but instead the market wanted something entirely different from me and that realization propelled my business.

Thanks! I've subscribed. Have done 11 auditions so far this week on ACX. Have narrated 2 books before but haven't gotten a nibble yet - so I needed to hear your video today. Thanks for the encouragement, Bill.

Just wanted to say I've appreciated every video of yours I've seen. I haven't jumped into voiceover yet bc I'm trying to insure I'm prepared before doing so and every time I watch a video I feel closer to "ready". Thank you for your videos!

You're welcome! Appreciate you saying all of that. I always recommend taking the leap and just getting started, but I completely understand waiting until you're sure it's a good fit. If you do decide to start, make sure to update me on your journey! I would love to hear how things are going. :-)

Hay Coach enjoyed your video, you sound great and looking good, go Bangles. I found the video informative, First the Plan then execution, that caught my ear, I also found the suggestion of rotating my demo clips a good idea. Thank you once again Sir for always giving so much of yourself to others, everything I know about VO I learned from you. The wheel with many spokes, Yesss. Thank you Coach once again for showing me the way. God Bless You and Your Family.

I could use some advice Bill. With consistency, and the metaphor you used with planting a seed a watering it; often I feel like I’m not doing enough because I’m not seeing much results from my efforts and feel like I’m stuck. I guess my question is how can we know/assure ourselves that we are making the right efforts or if maybe we need to try something else.

Listening to the market. My grandfather had a saying that wasn't intended for marketing or anything to do with business but rather for listening to personal feedback. I think this would apply though. Goes like this. If someone calls you a horse, ignore them. If a second person calls you a horse, think about it. If a third person calls you a horse, go buy a saddle. Now there are exceptions to even this good advice but my being a beginner in VO I couldn't tell you what they are and how to figure them out. My whole life I've always listened to everything but took only the things that overlapped. Same thing from multiple sources has a much higher chance of being accurate/correct than a single source. Yet again you have to temper that with discretion. If everyone is sayin' jump of the bridge, I ain't jumpin off no bridge. F#ck that. Less of course I'm a BASE jumper ;o)

Thank you, Bill! This is great. I appreciate these top 5 mistakes. Since I started my VO Career FULL-TIME on January 1, 2022, one of the topics that I recognize as extremely important is Marketing. Mega Kudos to you for these tips. I must admit, I have been a passive subscriber on your channel for years and this was the first time I have commented. I appreciate you sharing that you want to help people have a PROFITABLE VO business. That speaks to me! I will look for those marketing strategy tips that you mentioned on your channel. Thanks again!

You're too awesome Bill thank you so much for your videos, I noticed that your site has a coupon code for your mentoring, Where or when can I get one of those? I'd love to learn by an expert like yourself, but I lost my job and every saved dollar is much valuable to me and I think voiceover sounds like the perfect new field I can get into. Anytime you do the next discount or something I would appreciate you sharing it a lot. In the meantime I'll keep watching your youtube videos as they look really helpful for a complete beginner like myself. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and I hope you're doing great.

is noise reduction necessary?
@michaellyons52082 жыл бұрын
That kinda depends on how much noise you're dealing with, and from what/where. If the room tone/noise floor of your space is -60db or below, it might not really be necessary.
@princeicio2 жыл бұрын
@@michaellyons5208 my noise floor is right around -60db and clients are complaining
@michaellyons52082 жыл бұрын
@@princeicio Gotcha. Then yeah, you'd want to double check all the externals, and make sure you don't have any electronic noise (like cable hum, etc) then use something like Waves NS1 to pull it down that extra bit. Sorry I didn't see your response right away. YT buried the note in my spam. Hope you got it rectified.
