I’m a top rated VO on there. I recommend avoiding giving “free samples” if you have a demo posted. People are too cheap and try to take advantage. It’s not hard to charge $5 for a sample so why ask for it for free? Once I changed my pricing I found it worked better for me to weed out low paying jobs. You want quality customers. Maybe after 6 months see if raising your pricing works better for you. At the end of the day fiver wants to make their cut as well so wants to push you to offer more services and raise your prices. Good luck.

SUPER grateful for this comment. That’s a really good point about the samples and will keep that in mind. Interestingly, the same Ridgeback productions I worked with in this video recently posted about raising his rates and gave his reasoning so I followed suit. We’ll see how that goes. Thanks a ton for tuning in and commenting!!

Adding to this, I'm a low level seller and have definitely gotten trapped. Sample requests with "revisions requested" on the sample. As well as when they do submit an order, ill willed Buyers will continuously request revisions, even though the work is completed. Using revisions to ask for more services: music, synching, video, dubbing, etc. They request revisions until the Delivery window expires so they can then cancel the order. Yet they've gotten several renditions. Just a cautionary tale from my own experiences. Of course, we live and learn.

@@NicoVOTalent since I’ve posted this video, I’ve experienced the same. It’s so frustrating because, as a beginner, it’s hard enough to find work there already, but now we have to weed through garbage requests like that.

Just like you, I have been shooting myself in the foot for the last two years. I've taken classes, loved and thrived in them. Though since then, I've barely practiced and the real kicker, I have no idea how to edit! Can I ask how you got your start with editing? And for your mini-samples on your profile, you edited those yourself right? Like you, I would have absolutely no idea how to add a video to a voice sample. How did you go about that? I feel so helpless with technology and it makes me not even want to try VO with all of the savvy that is needed

The video aspect is the last thing you need to learn and it’s only really relevant on Fiverr as most other sites don’t require a video. Thanks for the video! I am about to start as a voice over artist as well, but was wondering for the demos, if it is allowed to "fake" the advertisement for an existing brand, just as you did. Do you know anything about that?
@DayOneVoiceover4 ай бұрын
That’s a great question. The answer is YES it is absolutely allowed. The reason for that is because it’s simply a sample. An audition, if you will. You’re not actually intending on selling that product. You are just putting it out there for someone to hear your voice in the proper context they may hire you for. So, absolutely move forward with that.
