I’m reading Torch Against the Night right now after flying through Ember in the Ashes, I’m absolutely loving this series and so thrilled I get to jump into the third book almost immediately!! I started reading them because you were raving about them in your reading vlog, so thank you for the ever amazing recommendations ❤️❤️

Unfortunately, with Children of Blood and Bone, one thing I didn't like was the massive insta-love. (spoilers ahead) Zelie got over the fact that Inan was kind of the enemy, and seemed to be majorly attracted to him straight away and then in love with him the next time she met him. Idk that part I low key hated but the rest was great!

I'm reading Dread Nation by Justina Ireland at the moment and it's looking to make it on my top ten books of this year. It's so good and the world is so rich, familiar, but seen through a different perspective. And she keeps raising the stakes. I love it.

Hi I thought it would be fun to kinda exchange recommendations in the comments section and maybe more people will read this books, anyways my top favorites atm would be: Shades of Magic by V. E. Schwab (I’m not sure if you have read this series yet and if you haven’t well hello adventures and the awesomeness of Lila) , Song of The Lioness and Daughter of The Lioness by Tamora Pierce ( I really like this author and haven’t read the books you mentioned in the video but once I’ve finished the series I’m currently reading I would definitely read them), Book of the Ancestor by Mark Lawrence (also a popular one that you may or may not read yet, he is one of my favorites when it comes to dark fantasy and although he had not presented many strong female characters in his previous works I am pleasantly surprised by this new series) and at last my new found jewel is called When women were warriors by Catherine M. Wilson (I’m absolutely in love with this, once you start reading you can’t stop and that’s the series I’m currently devouring) and the last one which unlike the others is not a book in a series it’s a stand alone one: The Power by Naomi Alderman (this one blew my mind, honestly I didn’t read the description or any reviews basically just dug blindly into the story and it surprised me, was a very interesting experience reading it and has a place on my top shelf) Ps: I’m not a native English speaker so sorry in advance for any grammatical errors

absolutely loved The Toy Makers by Robert Dinsdale. Such a gorgeous fantasy set over the first half of the 20th century in London. I loved the fairy tale like feel it had and how the toy shop in the book reminded me of The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. I loved how it elicited feelings and atmosphere with a couple sentences. It was great to read the way childhood was incorporated as a theme. How could this not peak your interest: Are you lost? Are you afraid? Are you a child at heart? So are we. The Emporium opens with the first frost of winter. It might be a perfect christmas book, but I read in at the start of May, and it was still amazing. Totally recommend it. I also read 300 pages of COBAB before I DNF'ed. The grammatical mistake was the final drop, but I was kinda poorly edited and all three POV's felt the same to me. As soon as the characters were together I always thought I was reading from Zelie's perspective, even in the first or second lines of chapters from the other POV's. And I had more issues, mostly in the execution and the technical writing aspects. Just because the world/religion/mythology were cool (and based on Orisha) doesn't really make a book good.

Amazing video, you always make my day better with your videos! Also I had always heard about An Ember in the Ashes but I never was really interested until I watched your reading vlog when you read it and I read that book so quickly it was amazing! Also Scythe was never something I was that interested in but when I saw you talking about it I picked it up and that was also one of the best books I’ve ever read. Thank you for always giving the best insight I could ever ask for 💓

Stormcaster and Children of Blood and Bone are easily among the top five of mine of all time! Bear and the Nightingale is up there, at least top 10, too! I am very much in the same boat you are as far as trying to narrow down top books for the year if the rest of the year ends up being such an incredible reading year as the first six months have been!! I will admit, I loved Ember in the Ashes, but Torch Against the Night kind of killed the series for me. I do plan on reading the third book, but I don't know what it was that frustrated me so much about book 2. The first book was beyond incredible, though, and I'm pretty sure it was that that got me back into reading in the first place last year. A book that I absolutely loved and wasn't entirely sure that I was going to this year was definitely Circe by Madeline Miller. I really wasn't expecting much from that book, especially since the first fifty pages were so slow, but man, I adore that book so much now!! You definitely should read Girl in the Tower by Katherine Arden some time soon!! It is a wonderful follow up to Bear and the Nightingale--in fact, I would argue that it's even better in parts!! Also, your dress and your new haircut are wonderful!!

I’m stuck halfway through Scythe, I unfortunately can’t see why people are obsessed with it :/ I’m struggling to believe the world and that people would have agreed to the brutal ways people are killed...why not a painless death for all? I also couldn’t quite understand why citra and rowan go along with being apprentices when they constantly say they don’t know why they’re doing it. I also feel like the romance is very forced and that their character traits are told and not shown to me, especially citra I barely know who she is. Please can someone convince me to keep reading as I really want to finish it and enjoy it but currently I’m just not 😅

How does your brain not explode from reading so much YA? You should challenge yourself sometime and read some actual literature lol. I have to give you props for getting people reading though, no matter what it is, because the world can use more people that read real books.
