Very good info - I will definitely download the app. Trash is a big one for us aswell. We always grab a bag and end up cleaning up trash that others have left. The only time I have broken the generator rule was in Winnemucca. The temps where below freezing at night and we had to fire up around 3 - 4 am to charge up the batteries. The only other campers were far from us.
@MountainTopHomestead3165 жыл бұрын
That's perfectly acceptable, I would be running the generator as well lol.

Great tips. I’m always saddened by how many people there are that are so inconsiderate of their neighbors. The generator issue is made worse by the folks that buy cheap open frame construction generators that are twice as loud as the inverter generators that are recommended for Boondocking. It really boils down to treat others as you wish to be treated.

Oh man that last one. Im just now looking at RVs for remote work, But I have motorcycle camped for decades. The trash is infuriating. Im planning to have a tote in the back of my truck just to fill up with other people trash I encounter. I often did similar when camping on my motorcycle - taking out more trash than I made. But that brings up a question - where to dump it? when motorcycle camping, there isnt a whoie lot you can pack out and no one says boo if you toss a grocery sack in the can at the gas station. But if I fill up that tote, plus my own stuff...its a bit more of an issue to offload that amount. Do you find a campground and stay a night so you have access to a dumpster?
@MountainTopHomestead3162 жыл бұрын
To be honest we always used gas stations or where we dumped the tanks. There always seemed to be a trash can somewhere lol

Really depends on the location, sometimes 10 miles, sometimes 30. Just depends on what you're comfortable with. We have friends that go way out, and we're not comfortable with thay so we find places that are closer to towns but not to close. 20 to 30 miles out is usually my max.

Good video. I do have to disagree on a few points though. I would not be at all happy to have someone parking 30 to 50 ft from me on BLM land unless the place was so packed that they had no choice. I have been full timing for three years, and as you said, I park on BLM land out in the middle of nowhere because I want the solitude. 30 to 50 ft is much, much too close to be parking to someone else while boondocking unless you have no choice. And if it is a wide open area, then please stay at least 1/4 mile from your nearest neighbour. They don't want to hear your generator or dogs or kids. If they did, they would go to an RV park or Quartzsite. And 6 am is really early to start a generator unless you have to do so. I spent a fortune on solar so that I would rarely have to listen to my own generator. If somebody parked 30 to 50 ft from me on open BLM land, and then fired up their generator at 6 am I would be really pissed. Please keep enough distance between you and your nearest neighbour that they can't hear your generator at all. Then you can run it whenever you want without any concern. Win - win. If that is not possible, then I would say 10 am might be a little more reasonable time to fire up a generator. Not everyone is an early riser.
@MountainTopHomestead3163 жыл бұрын
Very good points and i do have to say i agree.
@headdown13 жыл бұрын
@@MountainTopHomestead316 Thank you for your understanding! One more reason that I really appreciated other Rvers not camping closer that necessary is my dog. I have an over friendly Golden Retriever. If someone is within about 200 yards, then I can't leave him outside unsupervised for too long or he will likely give in to temptation and go make some new friends. While it isn't the end of the world, it is nice to not have to be checking on the dog every 10 minutes to see if he is going visiting. In the desert I can trust him to stick close to the RV, and if no one is too close I can leave the screen door open and let him come and go as he desires. It's nice to give him that freedom when possible.

Yeah I lived in Sacramento and there's rough places all over the place specially Stockton and drinking with the homeless or drinking. Attracts them because they see you drinking beer those Little liars going to come ask you for one and want to get friendly with you and check your camp out don't get friendly with them you don't have any beer you're broke just that's what you tell him don't have any drugs don't want to take any drugs that's how they'll leave you alone course you probably got a nice bicycle on the back your rig and yeah they just figure it will take it nothing's going to happen to him for stealing from you

Dam I can’t believe they stoled ur bikes at Stockton. I’ve been there before . I always tell the guys to chain up their ATVs and lock them in in between their car so they can’t get stolen some of the guys will do it some of them don’t . Those are the ones , that probably have to learn the hard way , but I try and make it as hard as possible for anybody to steal anything of mine…… a thief will go for something that’s an easy steal but if they have to struggle to get it they’ll usually just keep Goin on to in easiest target ….
