This was extremely helpful, thank you for the list and map! To everyone who keeps saying he talks too much, pretty much the first sentence he said in the video was, "if you don't want to listen to me talk, just look at the resources in the comments." So you're obviously not listening enough since you missed that.

This might be the nicest comment we have received- thanks for your kindness! Also, if you need any help planning, we would be happy to do it. Just send whatever questions you have. Enjoy your trip!

@@EmilyandGarrett That's so kind! If you happen to know of a good place to catch and keep salmon or trout during late-April, that would be much appreciated. I'm going to probably do some catch-and-release fly fishing at Ballynahinch but I would love to find somewhere in Ireland or Scotland that I could eat what I catch.
@EmilyandGarrettАй бұрын
love it! Have done this at Ballynahinch (one of our fav spots). You’ll need a Salmon Rod license to catch and keep, and out in the west would be our favorite spot to do so. River Moy is a popular spot, east of Ballina and North of Knock and South of Sligo. lots of great spots in and round those areas to eat it fresh too (even if you didn’t catch it 😁)

Thanks for the content, my wife and I are headed to Ireland for a Castle tour in April. I’m getting so excited! We’ll be lodging at Cabra so that’s cool. I just hope we can get to all the places I want to see.

Great informative video! I think the list might be missing Kilkea Castle in Co. Kildare.
@EmilyandGarrett4 жыл бұрын
Hi Wendy! Thanks so much for the kind comments, doing our best over here, although way behind in getting videos posted 🙁. Make sure you have your filters on when you look at the map. Kilkea is under the 4 star filter 😁. you should see a 4, 5 and private hire filter. If that’s not working for you let me know, maybe others are having similar issue?

So many castles in Ireland !! it would be difficult for me to choose Top 5 :) I love castles and my husband called me - a castle hunter )) We stayed in most beautiful real castles in Ireland. I think Ashford Castle and Dromoland Castle must be in Top 5. Recently we stayed in Ballyseede Castle and loved it. I have video reviews. This weekend we are going to Ballynahinch Castle.

Ah so very jealous! I’m fortunate that my job brings me to Ireland around 100 days a year - so this year has been incredibly difficult. I haven’t been back since February. Enjoy Ballynahinch, it’s one of my favorite, mainly because it’s just such a serene setting. As far as castles go, I’d have to say my favorite is Markree up near Sligo. The one night I stayed I literally had it to myself (and the owners Irish Wolfhound). It was such a great experience that it swayed me to make it a favorite. I will say though, even if it was a different experience, it’s just such an authentic castle and one that has been redone so carefully by the owners, that it would still be in my top 2 or 3. Enjoy your stay!! Sláinte!

@@EmilyandGarrett Thank you Garrett. My husband Niall and I wanted to stay in Markree Castle (sister hotel of Ballyseede Castle), but they are not open for guests, only for weddings. When did you stay? You have to stay in Ashford Castle! They have an Irish Wolfhound as well :) Reg.prices .. you have to fish :) we were luck to get a price of €395 for Deluxe Room B&B just day before Christmas this yeas !! We gonna stay in 2-3 castles in December, so stay in touch!
@EmilyandGarrett4 жыл бұрын
Stayed at Markree last November. It’s also the sister property of Cabra and Bellingham - all same family of owners. They have been playing with opening Markree to the public and not just be a wedding venue. But you’re right, for now it’s just for rental - kinda like bellingham. We used to use Ashford for work, but one of our competitors bought the hotel, along with others and it’s hard for us to get tour series rates now. We use their lodges sometimes and also for FIT guests we will use the castle itself, but for your series we don’t use them anymore. I love Ashford though, much like Adare Manor. Up near Markree there is also Kilronan and Loch Rynn, two more of our favorites because we love that northwest area. Less tourists (for now) although I suppose we are tourists 😂

Check Groupon.ie and luxurybreaks.ie a lot of these castles put deals up on those sites. I know Cabra Castle and Kilronan certainly do. I've stayed in both of them.

Great suggestion! I’ll pin this - certainly can’t hurt to check it out before booking 😁 thanks Cormac!

Note: I do usually suggest booking direct, often times if you find deals anywhere on the internet, the properties will honor those prices. So, don’t forget to be a savvy shopper! 😁

My friend whose father was a lord owned a house called kilbracken estate, it has gone into ruin because there is no money to run it even though they are putting all their money into at the money its just so much work and money to keep these places up and running

Gives appreciation for the places that are still up and running. it takes a village and a lot of money to keep them up!

It really does, Its such a shame some can't afford to keep them but its still lovely to go look at the ruins as well and imagine what they would of been like . Love stately homes :-) @@EmilyandGarrett

We don't need your face video taped, we need to know the exact place and video tapes of hotels. You can speak during the video. Are you going to be involved in politician?
@EmilyandGarrett4 жыл бұрын
Haha! Totally agree, wish I had video of every single place, but I do not - thus you get my face. Good news is, you have a link I provided in the description that connects you to all hotels and their websites for your research and enjoyment. Sometimes when I travel for work I cannot take my camera with me, so I don’t have video of every place. And no, wouldn’t dare go into politics, I don’t think I’m suited for government work and prefer to actually serve people on my free time. Let me know if I can help you plan your next trip, I’ll do my best to provide any information you need. Have a great day!
