You guys are terrific, you should be working for the Irish Tourist Board! I enjoy all the videos and as I am an ex pat it gives me that melancholy feeling while working away here in NYC. I want my girls to see the country of my birth but we fall into the trap of shuffling from one family to the next without getting out and exploring, need to take their phones away from them too lol. Seriously, It is extremely pleasant watching you both explore and enjoy it and its very much appreciated by us who watch! Thank you, from John, homesick in Manhattan LOL.

John, thank you so much for the VERY kind words. We take them all to heart, and it keeps us motivated to explore more and share. Ireland is a very special place for us, and beyond some loose generational heritage, we don’t have much connection other than visiting. I can imagine growing up and living there as you did. For us, it gets harder to leave each time we visit, there is something about the people and the land there - it feels like home. And if the Irish Board of Tourism would have us, we would be there! Haha! Have a great day John.

Emily and Garrett “Just remember, it's an easy place to be at home in, Ireland. I think the people are very skilled at relating. I notice, watching the different nationalities on the mountain, the fluidity of interaction the Irish people have with the visitors, and with each other. It's a skill that's less developed in other nationalities, and it's so instinctive it doesn't even look like a skill.” ― Pete McCarthy

My wife and I went to Ireland for the first time last October and loved it. We were able to drive the Ring of Kerry with many stops along the route. We drove around the Dingle Peninsula and went up to the tower and drove along the far end of the peninsula. We went to the Cliffs of Moher and stayed in Doolin. From there we took a boat over to Inishmore, the largest of the Aran Islands. We were able to stop and see some of the Burren and stopped in Athlone to have a pint at Sean's Pub (the oldest in Ireland). We also saw Bru Na Boine and finally made it to Dublin and saw the Book of Kells and the Trinity Library. We even had some time to run up to Northern Ireland and enjoyed that immensely. I am dying to go to the Skelligs and also the area that you mentioned in Donegal. We missed a couple of your favorites but we plan on returning. It is a stunningly beautiful country.

This is awesome!! And as a fellow lover of all that Ireland has to offer, trust me, it’s will take nearly a lifetime of trips to get your fill 😁 I now go multiple times of year for work and it’s never enough. So cool how much you guys got to see in one trip, It sounds amazing - and I always love the post September visits there. Tourism slows down slightly, and while the weather is still pretty good, you can get some shades of that fall/winter weather which I love in the evenings there. funny you mention Seans Bar, I’m friends with the owners and we now have an exclusive contract with them there for American Tourists. Great place with great history. When i stay in Athlone, I’m usually at the Sheraton or the Hodson Bay.

Awesome! Thanks for the memories. I have been to Ireland 3 times in the last 7 years and visited the places in your video. And have traveled extensively throughout all of Ireland. You need to go back and travel through the rest, it is simply amazing and beautiful as is all of Ireland including the North. Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Donegal and Northern Ireland are more than worth the effort and you won't be disappointed.

Hi Larry, thanks for the pleasant comments and the views! Ireland is like a second home for me, and I have so many more video planned. Unfortunately, and as I type this I know it’s an excuse 😞, life has gotten in the way of making more. I’ve spent the last three years, prior to COVID, traveling Ireland for work. I am in the tourism business and worked for the government of Ireland. This past year and a half has been tough not going back. Praying i’ll be over again soon!! Thanks ☺️ E & G

About 25 years ago we went to Newgrange and found a magnificent site that has stayed in our hearts forever. We arrived on a narrow country lane, parked in a farm field, paid our entry at a wooden ticket shed and followed the worn path to the tomb where a guide was available in about 10 minutes. Magnificent structure on the outside, there was much more to come. Once inside we followed the narrow passage to the main altar where we were told how only at sunrise on the winter solstice the sun came through the passage and lit up the altar. This in a structure that was thousands of years old! It was an experience we all remember. Fifteen years later we returned to find Walt Disney must have designed to new visitors area. Fortunately, while passage tomb entry tickets were hard to come by, we secured ours in advance and once inside found the magnificence we remembered. It’s still a wonderful stop and worth the trip from Dublin. Do attempt to secure passage tomb tickets in advance. While the exterior is unbelievable, the whole experience really requires your entry into the passage tomb. And the area for many miles around Newgrange, the Boyne Valley, including the Hill of Tara is more Irish landscape beauty.

Another lovely part of Ireland -- this time inland -- is the area around south Tipperary , north Cork and west Waterford. The Golden Vale, the Vee and the Blackwater Valley. The Knockmealdown and Comeragh Mountains as well. Some stunning scenery. I drove a lorry all around Ireland for a few years and saw the whole country from an elevated point of view, a privilege you don't get in a car, especially since the roads here usually have high hedges both sides. I myself live not too far from Newgrange.

Great Video!! Thanks for naming some areas I didn't know about. Definitely going to Dingle Peninsula and other areas you mentioned this time. Booked another solo Road Camping trip this coming May through part of June, can't wait! Thought I'd share some of my adventures while there. Enjoy! :) Road tripped and camped throughout Ireland 5 months ago June through July. Not a big city fan so didn't really venture Dublin at all, besides staying at Trinity College for a night. Started from Dublin down the coast to County Wicklow ...what a beautiful town. Set up Tent at Silver Strand Camp and RV...Restrooms, showers and small kitchen on site along with an unforgettable Private Beach ' Silver Strand '. Then drove out to a few small picturesque towns and made my way up to County Clare ' Doolin'. Pitched a tent at Aille River Hostel and campsite. 22 Euro a night , included , showers, bathrooms , community kitchen and social room with free wi-fi. Trail that leads to Cliffs of Moher starts there in Doolin....2 1/2 hr hike ...stunning views , ruins and a few cliff side caves. A friendly local drew a small map on a napkin to a secluded beach just a 10 minute walk from town. Wow ...so beautiful. Took a nap on its plush soft green turf with its amazing ocean just feet away. A few days later made my way through Galway and a scenic drive up the coast to a small shopping town in County Mayo ' Westport'. Camped at Westport House Caravan & Camping Park. 22 euro a day , bathrooms , showers, kitchen and beautiful views. Its a great town if your in to Shopping and such..i'm not a big shopper so instead made my way up to Croagh Patrick Mountain..what an amazing hike and stunning views of the town below. Then made my way out to a small town ' Ballinrobe' County Mayo. Where a beautiful welcoming Irish family ' Mcdonald's' invited me to dinner. Fresh spring lamb , fixings and homemade black pudding. They took me to Moorehall House ...built in 1792....what a site. Even climbed in and took stunning video of the inside that has been taken over by vines and other vegetation. The County of Mayo now has plans to restore the historical site. After saying goodbye to the Mcdonald's , I made my way through some narrow scenic countryside roads back to County Clare ..Stayed another few days , saw more amazing sites and headed back to the states. Winged the entire trip as soon as I landed. Was nice not to have to be somewhere on a time schedule.

As an Irish person, I would extend the periods to potentially start in March, April, May and go until the end of September. For some inexplicable reason, as much as you can try to guarantee it to be not raining in Ireland, for some reason September (particularly early September) tends to be unusually sunny and dry. Equally March and April can sometimes be amazing weather. What I would say to you is don't automatically assume that June, July, August will naturally have the best weather, we do sometimes have great Summers, but it's usually 50/50 and they can equally be a complete washout. For some reason the months either side of that window generally tend to be more reliable in my personal opinion. The advise I've always given to friends would be to come the first 2 weeks of September, usually the weather is good, and both the Irish and European holidays season has calmed down because all the kids are back in school.

Come back to County Mayo and check out the north coast of Clew Bay, Achill Island, Blacksod Bay, and the north coast of the county. Minimum 2 days and that is not stopping much. But you will stop, stop, stop. Highest sea cliffs in the European Union on Achill Island, 60 metres taller than the ones up in County Donegal 😉

Loved the video & wonder how far in advance a boat trip to Skellig Michael must be booked, & do you have any suggestions for booking?
@EmilyandGarrett
@EmilyandGarrett 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment and view. My suggestion would be to book two days in a row whatever you do. in summer they generally can go 5 out of 7 days, but on the odd chance of bad weather you at least have another day booked. maybe book one under your name and one day under someone else in your party. I’d say in terms of how far in advance, certainly not like it used to be with Star Wars Mania, but it’s still a huge supply and demand issue given that there are limited boats and limited space on each boat. funny thing is, you could show up and hop right on one if people don’t show or cancel last minute - but I obviously don’t recommend that. When we booked they were pretty archaic systems, some may be better now though. Google the operators, ensure they do landings and start calling and emailing them. don’t be discouraged if some are booked up, try all of them! let me know if you have any more questions ☺️☺️

Do you recommend a drone to capture footage as well? Thanks for all the superb suggestions, great videos!
@EmilyandGarrett
@EmilyandGarrett 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Patty, thanks for the views and comments. I normally don’t suggest brining drones for those on vacation. This is for a number of reasons, one is it can definitely be time consuming and I’m more of the type to encourage people to look up and out and explore while they are traveling. It’s great to capture memories in video and photo, but often the best way nowadays is to do it from the tool you have with you in your pocket - your phone! There are some exceptions of course, if you are very familiar with drone or SUAS laws, fly drones regularly and are extremely comfortable with them in foreign locations. With the things mentioned above, and the fact that most people are only there for a week or so, it’s best to travel light and really just enjoy. I’m over with work so often, and also used to have a media business, that it does afford more opportunity to capture things with a drone. It also helps that I’m a certified pilot in the states and have lots of hours of experience flying them in many different climates around the world. While there aren’t specific licenses you need to have for non-commercial purposes, there are still some important laws to follow and they can vary country to country - sometimes county to county etc. If you have any more questions please let me know as I’m happy to help ☺️

@EmilyandGarrett
@EmilyandGarrett 5 жыл бұрын
Awww I’m sorry Corina! I totally get it, that would be a bummer for sure. I know this doesn’t help now, but maybe if you go back - I usually recommend people plan two days for Ring of Kerry and surrounding to give yourself two opportunities because those landing trips are weather related. I usually will make a reservation for two and the person i’m traveling with will as well. If you don’t happen to show for one of those because weather was good, no fear those operators will fill those spots. they are super popular as you know and you don’t pay until you get there. If you do have a bad weather day, well, you got one more shot at it the next day :) I hope you still had a great time! I’m back over next month. take care ☺️

I think that is quite unfair to Dublin. While Dublin might not appeal to some Americans as it is a vibrant hustle and bustle city, it is nevertheless a very ancient and historic city officially established by The Vikings in 841, and home city of the famous viking 'Ivar the Boneless'. Essentially, Dublin has an amazing history that frankly, no other town or city in Ireland can match. The beautiful old world atmosphere of Trinity college(dating from 1500s) is a 'must see'. Other really interesting places are the fabulous and highly recommended National museum in Kildare street, plus Christchurch(with Strongbow's tomb)dating from viking times and also St Patrick's cathedral, so named because St Patrick himself visited the holy well at this very site where he converted local chieftans to christianity in the sixth century. I can think of numerous other reasons why a visit to historic Dublin is highly recommended but these are just some personal suggestions. Cheers

Hey Tracey, great question! So in general i’m careful about what month to visit because i have been in December and had great weather, and been in June and not had great weather. If i’m picking based on chances of having better weather, i’d go with september. both April and September are going to be considered more should seasons (not peak time) but April would be more so than September. most kids are back in school by september, so crowds have slowed a bit which can be nice, but the attractions and such are still going strong and are not closing early. Because of popularity, the season now has really extended through mid october or so in Ireland. you don’t notice big changes in hotel or attraction schedules until you get into november - feb/march dates. so, in short, if you were twisting my arm for an answer and it were us going to Ireland, i’d go in September. 😁 enjoy!!

As someone living here, I would choose September. Technically it's the start of autumn so the landscape is more colourful and the weather is generally better.

@@Mersty. thank you so much for a locals opinion. Would you recommend early, mid or late September? We're planning on spending no less than 3 weeks visiting Ireland.

@@traceypedroza8618 Early September is probably your best bet but as already mentioned, the weather here is difficult to predict as we are at the mercy of the North Atlantic jet stream. Just bring a good set of wet weather clothes and you will be fine. Hope this helps.

I hope to get back two Ireland for the third time as soon as coronavirus passes away. I had two cancel my trip in May because of the virus. But I'm sure I'll go back. Greetings from Madrid.

us too Jorge! Garrett is normally over around 90 days a year, so he is going through major withdrawals right now. You’re lucky to live so close! Much easier to hop a quick flight and go enjoy so many places, like Ireland. Thanks so much for the views and the nice comment ☺️ Be safe! E & G

So you stayed in the west of Ireland. And went to see the places all the tourists go to see. There is nothing new in your video. The places you mentioned are beautiful but packed with tourists . Try Donegal, Waterford, Wexford, Sligo, Antrim, Wicklow Cavan. So much to see completely away from the peak tourists spots.
@EmilyandGarrett

Yep, for this video we were all in the west- though Newgrange wouldn’t be in the West. Married in Sligo, love Donegal and generally stay in Wexford with a friend when we visit. Those places and a lot more would be coming in subsequent videos. Though I’d say your recommendation of Waterford is also peak tourist if we want to split hairs. You know, with Waterford Crystal and all. Wicklow is about the same given it’s proximity to Dublin and a little place called Glendalough.

Dingle is lovely ....but there are way too many people going there. ....mostly in summer

Agree there are many people now who have found out about Dingle and are taking advantage. However, it still much less than Ring of Kerry :) And summer can be crowded in certain spots! I love dingle town, but the peninsula is chock full of things to do and explore too ☺️

Emily and Garrett hey love the video btw. But I was in dingle last July and saw around 50 tour buses. If there's 50 to a bus that's 2500. I mean the town has less than that. To be honest it made me want to promote other places in Ireland because dingle I feel has become saturated. Perhaps it was just that particular day I was there. Donegal and mayo are lovely counties that have great towns too. The east coast is often overlooked. It depends what people want. Dublin city county Galway(includes Connemara) and Kerry(county Kerry includes dingle) have become super busy and there's so much more to see. Wexford is a great county as is Waterford. West Cork is often overlooked. Anyway that's just my view. I feel too many people can diminish an experience.

It’s a pretty accurate view. And don’t steal our thunder for future videos 😂 LOL. I currently build itineraries for the largest tour operator in Ireland, so I definitely agree, some days in Dingle, now that it’s become popular, can be very packed. Also agree, the north west and east coast don’t get as much attention as they should.

Thanks for sharing Neilus. I completely agree. While not Irish, I spend about a 1/3rd of my year each year specifically in Ireland for my job. Obviously COVID has put a temporary hold on that, so i’ve been itching to get back. My job is in tourism, and there’s just so many places I wish I could help people explore over there. That’s really why i started doing these videos. Of course this is just the start and is really just places many want to go on a first trip. I’ve got a bunch of different scripts I need to video soon for so many other places- just need more time to get them out! I appreciate you sharing your link with me and all who read the comments. Slainte.

God loves you so much that He sent His Holy Son Jesus from heaven to earth, to be born of a virgin, to grow up and die on a cross for our sins, and to be put into a tomb 3 days and rise from the dead the third day, and He (Jesus) went back up to heaven. We must receive Sinless Jesus sincerely to be God's child(John 1:12).After we get saved by grace through faith in Christ, if we truly love the Lord Jesus Christ, then we will obey Jesus(John 14:15). Mark 1:15 "And saying, the time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: Repent ye, and believe the gospel." Jesus said in John 14:15 "If you love Me, keep My commandments. "There's a real hell. It says in Revelation 21:8 "But for the cowardly, & unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, & immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters & all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone..." Please sincerely receive Holy Jesus and put your true faith and trust in Him today and *please repent.*
