The Titanium Quartz looks so otherworldly, much more metallic than a stone. The Sunset Fire Opal looks like it was floated free from a bubble of molten lava that's encased in glass for people to wear. Last, but not least, The Galaxy Opal that looks so ethereal and somewhat spiritual, with encapsulated worlds discombobulated inside these gems. Out of the five, these were the most majestic, possibly that I have ever seen. Thanks for sharing.

The craziest thing about it is that webmineral and several other sites have pronunciation guides right on their mineral information pages. It's such an easy issue to avoid if the narrator doesn't know how to pronounce something and wants to know how to do it correctly.

The titanium quartz cluster is a treated piece. Quartz exposed to titanium vapor in a controlled environment creates the iridescent sheen. NOT found like that in nature.

People have been treating stones for centuries to enhance their appeal. Heating was common to enhance color. Then irradiation, now this. Most of the topaz in jewelry is heat treated.

I'm no expert, just a casual collector but I know that Titanium Quartz is just natural quartz that has been manipulated in a lab...also those last couple clips looks like Resin casts with opals in it.

For sure! The last couple of clips show synthetic opal encased in borosilicate glass. Real opals would explode in blown glass, so only the synthetic ones that don't have plastic can be encased like that. I made a response video to this one that fixes a bunch of other errors as well. Trying to get the word out about it :)

This video is full of false information. The guy talking has no clue about the subject he is speaking about. Several of the "galaxy" opals are man-made with pieces of natural opal in them. Titanium quartz, also known as aqua-aura, is man-made in a lab. It does not come out of the ground with those rainbow colors.

1:21 through about 3:16 is lifted video from the youtube vids of the Havey Quarry in Maine (and from Cross Jewelers.) That is tourmaline (tur-muh-lean, btw, for the narrator...which I think is an electronic voice, actually) from the Havey. You see my husband, the miner, Jeff Morrison, you hear from & see the hands of Sean Sweeney , our friend who is an amazing stone cutter, and hear me (Jan Morrison) when the watermelon was pulled out. The small broken pink may be Burmese; it isn't ours. We have pulled out pink, but haven't put it out for the public at this point. (It was a large broken crystal. Gorgeous, raspberry pink. Very intense coloring.) Happy we made this guy's top five. We love what we do! Check out The Havey Quarry on FB, and New England Mineral Association (also on FB, and, we have a website....conference is held in May of each year.) Note, the mine is *not* open to the public. We found a large, hollow boulder filled with quartz once in a stream. It was too big for us to move so we left it to get help to lift it another day. It seems we weren't the only ones to find it though as next time it was gone. Grats to whoever managed to heave that thing out of the Nidd, lol

The Galaxy opal is from Opal Butte in the state of Oregon. I use to work there at that mine. Much of the opal from there is not stable, but some is stable. I will say this, that mine produced some of the coolest opal I've even seen, such as this Galaxy opal. When that piece was found, it was originally name the Nebula opal.

Labradorite doesn't always display flashes of red & green. It's also worth pointing out the video footage of the stone is blurred, making it more difficult to work out exactly what is being seen.

Ok 1) labradorite and the second museum piece has azurite (the blue part) malachite and some other minerals included 2)TOURMALINE GOD SAKES One of those minerals (the pink branchy one is something else don’t know tho) Also he says it like three different ways 3) Aura Quartz is coated in metals, not natural. The quartz mine is just regular quartz/ smoky stuff. I’m impressed he didn’t include anything where these geologists said the minerals The rest of the titanium quartz was probably metaphysics people displaying them 2) the poor giant fire opal? If that was even real... I’ve never seen opal mined. The first cabochon is fire opal The faceted stone isnt (not sure what tho The third resin ?? Actually he is right. They are overrated and practically worthless. The DeBeers corporation owns most of the worlds diamond minds and limits the amount of diamonds that come on the market, therefore artificially inflating prices and keeping them high by making people think its a rare stone. When in actuality, they are quite abundant. There are plenty of other stones that are truly rare and more beautiful then diamond. *Bonus info: DeBeers is also responsible for making diamonds a thing on engagement rings. This started in 1947 when DeBeers began a marketing campaign that told high girls that it was the thing to have.

It's natural, just bonded with titanium oxides to get the effect you see... Most gemstones are treated to get the desired look and colours and makes them worth more

When it's polished, the fire opal doesn't look like the "milky opal" cabochon (7:07) at all. It looks like the red stone following the images of the cab. The spherical green opal (8:59) is the most beautiful one, to me.
