COOL FACT - The sirens at the beginning of Runnin with the Devil is a recording of the bands car horns going off together which was recorded outside sunset recording studio's with a Shure 57 then they reversed it in the studio.

As someone mentioned below, the noise at the beginning of ‘Runnin with the Devil’ is a chorus of car horns. The horns were taken from the band's own cars, including Alex's Opel, Eddie's Volvo, a Mercedes Benz and a Volkswagen. They were placed in a box that were connected to 2 car batteries and a foot switch. They were also slowed down somewhat during production to get that eerie siren like sound.

Hi Erich Guitar Sage - I love your relaxed method of teaching, your accuracy and detailed approach. The Van Halen segment was fun to watch. I actually transposed to Ab the Ain't Talkin about love tune and got a nice cool idea for the lead guitar scale which I found out was mainly pentatonic on 1 whole step up on the G,B,E strings. Cool stuff !

Any tone tips? Besides the EVH guitar? Its hard to time those dives right using a Strat on the sliding riff of Ain't Talkin bout Love. To get anywhere near that tone I have to use a heavy distortion or fuzz pedal into my super clean Fender amp. It works fine for my needs but you really nail it on this video.

Great vid and great job! One note that I always see on Runnin' With The Devil- during tutorials, everybody always misses that extra beat on the third to last note of the riff. It seems like it always gets skipped, but I'm not sure why...

you picked some of the very best VH songs from their catalog. listening to the first album through a good set of head phones is as magic as it gets. there are other artists with an album or so that's as good, but better is only reserved for hendrix. those 2 are the best, and most under rated (as) rhythm players in rock. nicely done, good content, i thumbed you
