The Megatherium can fit in only 1 cave. The easy cave near Stonehenge. I was unsuccessful in getting it into any other cave on the Island. It absolutely wrecked everything in that cave then again it was an easy cave and gathered close to 10 thousand chitin on 2x in one run. The megatherium agroes nothing in caves but piranhas, lizzards and Megalosaurus. I like the idea taking a Daedon and dire wolves with tribe m8s while having vultures on our shoulders.

The megalodon is the best for surface caves. You just need to carry it on your shoulder and remember to bring plenty of water or construct a miner hat with two jugs of water on either side with bendy straws for it's head slot.

Forgot the #1 dino to bring systematically to all caves : the otter. Yes, the otter. Not to handle dinos in the cave, but it is the only one dino that will carry an artifact for you (so you can take 2 each time you solo a cave).

I mean he used unleveled 150 dinos. Not even forcetames. Just givetome. Of course its gonna die without a saddle. Bring a max level daedon and you can beat it. But why even do that when velonasaurs can press c and then spam left click. You will shred everything in seconds. And if you breed them and get like 2k melee on them +100% imprint you can take out everything exept for titans and bosses in seconds.

I’d argue with this the baryonyx. It can fit in almost all caves it has higher health pool then everything you mentioned not to mention more damage and it can swim well so it even works in underwater caves. I have used it in just about every cave

Baryonyx and Beelzebufo is what I've been using for caves. the frog stacks up torpor fast as fuck and gets a massive amount of chitin while the Baryonyx deals more damage and stuns most aquatic dinos (including alpha megalodons)

I would like to add a few things to the vulture, as I am an ark vulture enthusiast, 1. Is its ability to eat spoiled meat and get much more health from it than raw meat. Seriously if you force feed it to a vulture of about 1000 health it will go up in no time. 2. You can bring a whole flock in with you. So you mentioned it being a portable dire wolf, well what about 15 flying portable direwolves? Seriously vultures are like my best creature for caving, plus they can fall into lava that easily (granted they dont chase a corps into it). 3. Easy breed and easy mutation, I think this explains itself, its small and relatively early game so obviously it will be easy to breed an army of hyper-fabulos, bloodthirsty, Carrion birds. 4. They keep meat from spoiling in their inventory, for about 4X as long if memory serves me well.

I made multiple attempts on SE in legacy for a Gama Manticore win with 2 Rex and 18 vultures. Never won bu got close brought it down to 1/5 of its health before it finally started torping and killing my mut vul with 600 mele. I was "That Vulture Guy" on 988 legacy PVE.

I'd put the direwolf above the sabercat because of the vertical range on their attacks. Sabers have a hard time hitting fliers at times because their attack hits directly in front with little vertical range, whereas wolves have a bit of vertical reach on their attacks. They are a bit more fragile, and the saber is better for chitin, but I think the reach outweighs the sturdiness the saddle gives because the best way to reduce damage is to kill the enemy quicker, and the wolf can dispatch those damned bats more reliably.

I've always used dimorphodons as my shoulder dinos. Routinely clear Rag caves with them. I didn't realize the vulture was so much more powerful, will have to try breeding those.

I prefer Dimorphs :) Even on ragnarok where you can't take mounts, I was able to solo run the ice queen cave with flack armor and a pack of 8 dimorphs :D

It's worth noting that I had a dimo factory at home pumping out new babies all the time in case I lost some, but they were never mutated or min/maxed. This was also before they added Dino downloads to trade beacons. These days you can just summon in a pair of rexes in the room before the waterfall and leave them there for farming her.

To anyone using this to make decisions: don't. This video is awful. First: Notice how his gigantopithicus is very bloody while he's talking about how tough they are? Notice how it dies right after? That's not to say they're useless. They can be used effectively. But they are not tanky tames unless you get a really good helmet on them. And then you have to be very good about swapping it for a full durability helmet when it breaks. Second: Note how he's saying the vulture's damage is on par with the direwolf's. The Vulture is doing about 75 damage a hit, while the direwolf is doing about 83 damage a hit. Seems to back up CJ's claim. Until you notice that the direwolf is level 154, and the vulture is level 225. That's a 71 level difference. Nearly 50% higher level than the direwolf. That said, of course it's good to bring a solid shoulder pet with you. They can add significant DPS, especially to Onycs. I generally bring a dimorphodon for that purpose. No offense meant, CJ. But your tone is way too optimistic in a lot of these videos. So much so, that they're often flat out misleading. I know this is an old video. I hope you've gotten more realistic since this was uploaded.

I will add a number 6: Dilophosaurus, why? They fit everywhere and when on aggressive can be amazing distractions for everything, I would definitely bring 10 or 20 down with max health and damage and just set them loose on the things in the cave. If you want you can also bring a pack of dire wolfs to add that buff stuff. By the way, the reason the sabertooth tiger doesn’t get a pack boost is because they aren’t pack animals, they can be, but they don’t choose that. The only reason to bring a dilophosaurus is so you can send them ahead to beat up animals ahead, eventually you will tell them to stay, just leave them where they can’t go and then they will make sure when on your way out you won’t be surprised.

THANK you. Nobody mentions dilophosaurs, but they're amazing in caves, especially lower-level caves. First time I ever went into Lower South Cave, I took I think... three dilophosaurs? And they shredded everything we came across. Probably wouldn't be as effective against onycs, and I wouldn't take them into any cave with a lot of gaps to jump. But if you're just farming chitin or something, dilos are the shit.

Hard to take the video seriously when your first info is wrong on the direwolf. It detects enemy's hp, going from half hp down to dead. You had a symbol on the araneo because it was detecting the corpse. You don't get any HP benefits from consuming the corpse other than the meat it provides.

Sabers are overpowered in caves, as they are like small and robust trikes with better damage and even health. They are also fast and steady, unlike other creatures fast like raptors that spring around and fall into pits of lava. Definitely recommend.

This is mostly untested but at the moment (jan 2019) tamed vultures will never act aggressively. Regardless of settings they will only ever escalate to neutral. That being said you can somewhat trick the coding to make them aggressive. The untested idea is to have a pack of vultures follow you with a dimorphodon set to aggressive and high target range on your shoulder. The vultures will take the dimorphs lead at attack whatever it decides to target. The test I did had an aggressive jerboa on my shoulder instead of a dimorph. The result was whatever got near me the vultures would slaughter within seconds. Tl:Dr vultures are always passive or neutral, using another tame on aggressive may get them to attack before you get hurt.

A 300% melee vulture will do the default damage of a 100% rex. Breed them in high melee, a Murder of 12 600% melee vultures will destroy a death worm in less than 15 secs. Plus they are a fridge for all perishables.

I'd like to see that, too. Just for others to see, since I couldn't be arsed to make a video about it. I've tried both. Tamed and subsequently bred a flock of Dimorphodons and Vultures to take them into the Snow Cave on The Island. Turns out, the Vultures are frikkin' BADASS while the Dimorphodons are either dead or I've let them free (set to wander). So it's worth the trip to Ragnarok or Scorched Earth to tame yourselves some high level Vultures. They're a passive tame with spoiled meat, so it's not rocket science. They'll only eat spoiled meat as well, so breeding and feeding is easy, we all have spoiled meat everywhere after a certain level.

The dimorph has to be knocked out to tame, vultures are passive, they do the same base damage. Vultures are fridges doubling the expiration time on all perishables while the dimorph is slightly faster at flying. Note vultures have to consume the perishable themselves because the only thing you can put in their inventory is spoiled meat

Nice video, CJ! Didn't know what to do with my Daeodons, since they just eat through the feeding throughs and are useles in Bossfights if you have a good Yutyrannus. Gonna take 'em to the cave ASAP, just for fun. ;) Also, I always carry a Vulture on my shoulder, even if it looks stupid. You've perfectly shown the reason why, I've had to explain it multiple times. These fellows saved my life more than once. Be sure to check out the Thylacoleo for the cave on Carno Island. And for every other cave that allows to take Dinos in with you: Baryonix all the way! Breed them, have a mate boosted couple, give them a decent saddle, stuff fish in their inventory (they won't eat anything else), and off you go. You sit high enough that the spit from Arthropleura won't reach your armor, so you can just kill them on sight! After the TLC, it might be worth to have another look at Raptors with pack and mate boost. I think they'll just shred almost every cave now, and wolves are obsolete. They combine the strength (pack boost) of wolves with the saddles of sabertooths plus the saddle - height (Arthropleura) of Baryonix .

you should've made this a top 10, because I can think of at least 5 i find better for caves. number 1 is baryonyx, lets just get that out of the way, we all know its the best cave creature. Then in any order you like, otters are great for holding artifacts and helping you not freeze or overheat. Megatheriums are on the bigger side, but it kills bugs better than anything else. next youve got thyla, again its big, but it can deal with anything you find in caves, and can climb walls. the megalania is insane, its git good speed and health, with decent melee, but where it really shines is its ability to climb and run on any surface no matter the angle. and finally basilos are the best for the underwater caves, but of course cant be used on land. i also dont mind bringing in a beelzebufo if i need cememnting paste, they move really fast, can jump super high and far, and have good health. also worth mentioning that there are creatures on other maps, like desmodus which is the only creature that can fly in caves, can cling to walls, one of the few flyers you can use weapons on, can detect enemies, and can go invisible. the ravagers are just sabers on steroids, smaller, and can walk on ziplines. rockdrakes dont fit into alot of caves, but they can go invisible and walk on walls, and are great swimmers. finally shadowmanes can go invisile, great melee and health, super fast, imo one of the best jumpers in the game, and can teleport. thats just my opinion, but some advice for anyone looking for it

Honestly, take a turtle, some dilos, and a raptor or 2. If the turtle will fit. Take him in and let him carry resources, the raptors and dilos are pretty good in xaves. Dilos especially since the enemies can rarely effectively sidestep their acid.

Chalicotherium! It has a huge health pool and deals massive knockback so creatures can't get close. Plus if you make it sit down when it's under half health, it will regenerate back to half health by hundreds of health points a second.

legenday 101 Barys are powerhouses that do insane amounts of damage, they can also jump, swim in water, and also have a tailspin move in the water which hits in all directions. sure its not good for the lava cave, but it's great for the other caves well besides the skylord cave

I would highly suggest the baryonyx. The downsides are it takes a lot of torpor from centipedes. But is high enough in the air to help protect you from the bats.

Thylacoleo for Carno Island cave, Baryonyx for all the others bring some fish they heal fast with fish to eat (except Skylord which doesn't fit mounts, and Strong which needs a really good Yutyrannus, a couple good Allosaurus, or good equipment and cave building enabled for barriers like in the Nooblets guide, Basilosaurus for the water caves), Otter on your shoulder for insulation and the multiple artifact trick/feature/bug still works with them and they also do decent damage with melee buffed, which also buffs their insulation factor. You'll get much better info and advice from Phlinger, Syntac, if you need cheese with your guide then RoyaleWithCheese and Nooblets. The advice in this video is pretty bad, one example Arthropluera are in the majority of the caves, their spit one or two shots even good armor, so one spit from one of these and the Gigantopithicus shoulder riding antics- his helmet melts, your armor melts then you both get melted. Saddles don't have durability so they don't break. Another example is notice how his tames keep dying, I took my fresh 150 Baryonyx with a 40 armor saddle into the Cave of the Hunter, was just a little careful, beat it the first try and used it to level my new Bary, used my otter to stick around and grab a couple extra artifacts.

cave runners at number 1 i have the Baryonyx as they protect the rider from damage from most enemies and get into almost all the caves but the only downside is they only eat raw fish, at number 2 thylacoleo (this can only get into the larger cave entrances) but a solid late game mount, at number 3 i would say the sabretooth as it has lower health over allbut with a good one can deal some good damage on the downside it can't jump that far, at number 4 i would say the deodon (pig) because of the healing factor big downside is it can't really jump, and last i would say a good leveled direwolf lower health over all but good damage (take it in a pack of 3-4 with both male and female for the mate boost and pack boost )

Thyla. If you can fit a pig or mokey a Thyla will fit. They can climb and have health and damage much much higher than a Giganothepicus or anything you have on your list.

I use a trike and I bring 2 axes with me. The trikes melee attack knocks back all small creatures **except arthuopura** and they will **** you up if you have 2-3 on you. So be weary of that, but if your just dealing with titanbowas spiders and scorpions then essentially you will take no damage and can farm caves with ez. I pumped most levels from my trike into melee damage and I get thousands of kitin and hide when I need it.
