Suspension built for your weight and height is definitely the first thing I do whenever I switch bikes. Most important mod in my opinion.

Suspension numero uno. By far. Not only a safety factor, but makes the bike so rideable that you don't need a useless aftermarket exhaust. Most people can't use the power they have under pro level. Skip the thousand dollar exhaust and put it into rider comfort. You'll go faster. Trust me.

Any recommendations for a rider 6'1" 180lbs? I've always rode with stock yz bend bars. Alot of the forums say the rc high bends
@rmatvmc
@rmatvmc 3 жыл бұрын
If you want more rise, try adding bar risers if you like the bend of your bars you have now. Less expensive and you don't have to get used to something new. But every handlebar will have a chart on the product page showing the height or rise of the bars.

Hey I have a 2018 crf125f, would I be able to put a fuel pump on it, or a different cylinder head for more power
@rmatvmc
@rmatvmc 4 жыл бұрын
Your bike doesn't have a fuel pump but you could look for a cylinder head if someone makes one. If you want more power I would start with an intake/air filter, exhaust, and jetting your carburetor.

We talk about rider triangle all the time, but is there a way to know exact measurements between bikes? I plan to be switching brands, but I’ve been running lowered pegs and a low flat bar on top of a steering damper that raises it 1”. Basically the same height as stock but flatter. Anyway I want to know if I switch brands exactly what bar bend etc to use to get to the same rider triangle that I love.
@rmatvmc
@rmatvmc 5 жыл бұрын
Man, that is a tough question because every bike has a different feel. What bike are you on and what do you plan to ride next?
@TheMitchForrest
@TheMitchForrest 5 жыл бұрын
Rocky Mountain ATV MC For sure. I’m on a 2017 ktm 350xcf I have the brp sub mount that raises the bars 1”, with Flexx bars 10 degree Moto low, should be similar height to stock ktm. Then I have evo air ext pegs ran in the lowered position that is 1/2 lower. I plan to buy a 18/19 YZ450F. I just wish there was an index that showed the exact measurements and relationships between seat, pegs, and bars. Most likely with just have to try different setups and figure it out myself.
@rmatvmc
@rmatvmc 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that is probably what you'll need to do. Every bike just has a different feel. I'll bet that even if the YZ had the exact same dimensions, it would still feel different than your KTM.

Everyone has there preferences, I always start with having suspension re sprung. With yamaha yz450f's including the 2018 I haven't found the need to re valve (I race vet class, I'm no pro) 2nd thing for me is pro taper contour bars, pro taper pillow top grips ( I believe these help with arm pump) lastly I install pro taper unbreakable levers and perches ( yes they are expensive but breaking a lever while racing or riding is the worst). Fact Is most people cant ride a standard off the Showroom floor bike to it's full potential (including me) so dont waste your hard earned cash on a pipe first up.
@rmatvmc
@rmatvmc 5 жыл бұрын
That is good feedback. I agree, save your money for mod to make the bike comfortable for the rider, i.e. bars, grips, pegs etc. If you have cash left over and want some more HP then get an exhaust. You're right, some bikes are sprung and valved better than others, but it still needs to be set up for your weight. Thanks for watching and commenting!-Chase

You seem to ride a yamaha in most videos, im picking up a 17 YZF250 soon, got roughly 3 hours on it. What would you recommend most to change on that bike? or if anything?
@Keeferinctesting
@Keeferinctesting 5 жыл бұрын
Hey Steve Jobs! HAHA! I ride a Yamaha on my own time, but actually ride almost every bike that there is. The 2017 YZ250F is pretty goods stock so leave it that way for a bit. I would change the bars and grips to your liking (I use Pro Taper EVO bars and half waffle medium grips) to help with flex. If it doesn't have a muffler, try a slip on from DR.D as it keeps the stock good bottom end and increases mid-top end pull.

I bought a 16 yz250f new and I've done a big bore, stage 2 hotcams, some valve and rod work, along with a full fmf system and breakaway asv shorty levers. I highly recommend the fmf system for it every yamaha 250 needs one. That is the only thing that is really needed. Btw I put 50hrs on the motor before I changed it from stock so I know, do the exhaust and levers

That's the year of bike I ride too and I love it. Only two things I would recommend changing on it (assuming its stock) are the grips and tires. The stock grips suck (as most oem ones do) and that bike comes with the old and outdated Bridgestone tires that suck. I prefer the Dunlop mx33 or mx3s tires, whatever is available is fine. Michelin's and Pirelli's are good as well. Just depends on whether the dirt you ride on is hard packed or ripped deep. Otherwise the suspension is great, bar bend is comfortable and neutral, it has an awesome engine package, and affordable parts support. Privateers are racing these Yamaha's bone stock in supercross. All those aftermarket parts are nice but are definitely not needed on these newer generation bikes. I'd work on getting fully comfortable before swiping the card for performance parts. I'm surprised Keefer didn't mention anything about longer pullrods for the rear shock. I'm only a B/C rider but I can definitely feel a difference if the sag is way off. And to me a 1-3mm longer pull rod definitely helps the balance of the bike, especially if you're a shorter rider.

@@UndyingEuphoria thanks dude! I'm moving up from a 125 2 stroke, I know there's not much difference in power as such but I've only been riding a year, and I'm 20 years old 6ft, just feel like I could do with a 4 stroke to make it easier for me as I struggle keeping it in band, grips will be one of the first things I do, along with adjusting sag rebound etc. It's got RSS suspension too front and back. The bikes got 3 hours on it and someone swapped the Bridgestone for geomax mx33 I believe

These are terrible tips. Most riders a $1500 exhaust system would see a difference. I recommend most people to not buy exhaust due to the cost. Once your good, sure! Ignition system. Literally only 1% of people want to play with AFR. The demographic watching this video would not give 2 shits about ignition timing and AFR. What about suspension sag? Levers in correct position? Suspension spring changes?
