Really enjoy this format that you guys are doing. Giving modestly critical feedback on games that don't work for you is a pocket in boardgame KZbin that needs more attention.

100% agreed on Arcs, thank you :D Haven't played the other games on the list yet. Nice video, the constant praising of every game out there is a bit annoying. They can't ALL be hidden gems or the best game of the year.

@@TolisKou I’ve done a video on the rankings of games and in that video we talk about how a “7” is the new “5” which I completely disagree with but it certainly is an interesting phenomenon where everyone loves every game. Lol

Wherle games are specific . Root was only game which landed well. Most infuriating experience so far was Pax Pamir- 3 hours of tag war with 0 points scored by 3 out of 5 players

The Leder games fanbois are toxic AF. 2 days ago, a guy dropped a negative review of Arcs on bgg and 4 pages of replies of butthurt fans trying to invalidate him sprung up almost instantaneously. I both love and hate Arcs. The game is enjoyable, but also, at times, very frustrating. I don't understand the criticism

Very much agree on Unconcius Mind. It is just a straight up boring experience and I have been shocked to continuously hear other people rave about how good it is, even though it barely offers any interesting decisions for a game of that weight and length...

Enjoyed your video. Sad that even though you said numerous times in this video you don’t think they are bad games they just disappointed you in some ways, the internet is doing its usual thing of "Opinion I don't like? Not on my watch" thing. For me, stuff like Mythwind for example work well as I put like 5 -10min into it a day and keep set up but great thing about games is plenty that work and don't for every person. Happy New Year.

I backed out of Unconscious Mind because I had the same thoughts when I closely watched a gameplay video. While Faraway was a disappointment for me, Let's Go! to Japan gave me the same vibes as Faraway except that I really liked it. I won't go near Arcs or anything Cole Wehrle designs (I'm sure he's a nice guy), so seeing Arcs on your list both surprises me and pleases me. I feel like you've mentioned liking Cole's other games on this channel? So I would have expected you to like Arcs. But if you don't like his stuff, well, that's what I like this channel!
@BoardGamesUnLocked15 күн бұрын
@@jacobjslee Oh, I absolutely love Root but that’s pretty much it. Lol Hence why Arcs was on this list because it seems closer to Root than Oath did but it just wasn’t for me. Guess I set my expectations up too high

@@jacobjslee Wife and I just played Unconscious Mind for the first time two days ago and it’s a banger. It’s got a lot going on so if you don’t like heavy Euros, you’ll hate it. But it could be #1 of 2024 for us. It’s that good. Ended in a 172-172 tie and the only reason I won is my Rep was 2 points higher. Super tense and close at 2.
@jacobjslee14 күн бұрын
@@TateRoberts_007 Any game that ends that close is going to be a fun session, but I don't think the game is for me. There was a time when I really loved these types of games, but they just don't get played enough compared to a middleweight game with lower rules overhead. That's just where I'm at these days.
@TateRoberts_00714 күн бұрын
@ totally get that. Game length seems to be more of a problem these days for most gamers, though these heavier games are all I want to play. Makes the hobby difficult when you can’t find players to play with over something like length. But I get it.
@BoardGamesUnLocked14 күн бұрын
@ It is interesting because I was in that same boat years ago and idk if 32 is just old nowadays but I just don’t seem to want to play these at this point. Lol Not that these heavier games are bad by any means!

Sorry to say, you're super wrong about Stonespine Architects. It's a banger, and everyone we play it with loves it. We have both the physical copy and it's in Beta on BGA. It's a superb, fun, varied, and quick playing game. Totally wrong. :) The drafting is highly thematic and interactive, as you can see everyone's blueprint and, if possible, hate draft them into oblivion. It's not simplistic whatsoever, and requires all of your eyes to be watching the table. Every decision is painful. Do you pass first to get first pick of the goal cards? Or do you spend gold to get the market tokens you need to fulfill the goal cards you already have (or the global one for the massive 15 point first place prize)?

Really enjoyed the video, I disagree on Primal: The awakening. Having a campaign light is something we really enjoy. The gameplay is awesome!
