I think 161 is the hardest, because no matter what treble you hit to start with (T17, T18, T19, T20), you have to move to the other side of the Board, whether you want to or not

That Rob Cross 161 out is probably the seconf best finish I've ever seen. In this situation on that stage...Only one to top this is Chizzy finishing 161 against MVG in the Premier League facing elimination ad MVG was up 6-5

To answer your question: Yes, I expected the 170 to not be in the top 5 hardest checkouts since it "just" requires hitting the same treble twice instead of switching. Furthermore it is a checkout that may occur more often than other high finishes since players try to establish a checkout rather on the 170 than on 167, 164, 161 and so on.

My theory of double top not being that easy is the fact that you need perfect hight for this throw. Too low or high and you miss. With f.i. double 16 you can still hit it while making two mistakes: if you are too high (aiming for the middle of the bed) AND too much to the left, you are still successful. A bit like in golf, aiming too much to the right, but pulling the shot can leave you near the pin;-)

Thanks for this! Recently I was thinking about this and actually thought 161 is the hardest one. It makes sense as one needs bull and 2 different trebles, whilst T19 (167) is definitely easier than T17.

32 isnt the easiest double, its the smartest, because if you hit the fat 16 the adjustment for 2 x 8 is a snap and its an even number all the way through till bust, where 40 eventually turns into being left with a 5 to straiten out.

Mensur is probably 50% or those double 14’s, let’s be honest. Great video, but I wasn’t surprised about double tops, many of the match’s I have recently watched people seem to be going more for double 16 or 18, mainly 16 for the fact that double eight is next to 16 so you don’t have to move much in most cases.

Mensur is actually responsible for only about 3.5% of the 28 checkouts from the time frame that this data was collected. In 2017, out of all the stage darts thrown at D14 he threw about a quarter of them - madness!

Not too surprised at 170 not being the hardest. As you allude to earlier in the video it's easier to be able to go for the same double so 2 x T20 (and then the bull) would - for a professional player - be easier than T20, T19, Bull etc for 167 and so on

Strange enough that 133 is harder than 127 but if the first dart hit of two checkouts is T20, the second dart's section after T20 of both checkouts IS A BIG TWIST!!! -133: the 2nd dart in the S19 instead of T19, then no out! -127: even the 2nd dart hits a S17 instead of T17, still leaves an out for a Bull! In my conclusion, 133 & 127, the 2nd dart's section, T19 is easier to hit than T17 but most importantly is the checkout number remaining which is compatible of any doubles for the 3rd dart or not!

Also because you're more used to going for t20, players go fo it all the time. But bull finishes are roughly around 1 out of 4 or even 5 so it is surprising that 170 isn't there.

32 isnt the easiest checkout but one of the most tactical, hitting 16 leaves double 8 hitting 8 leaves double 4, while for example hitting 5 leaves 1 double 2 (if stnding on 10), 32-16-8-4-2 you will never have to use 1 dart to hit an uneven number

It's simply because 32 goes even all the way to 1 when divided by 2. Meanwhile, it's supposed to be easy, but not that much for tall players. Well, now you'll say Adrian Lewis is 6'4 and he hits it well. That's because he throws the dart like a spear and has a grip no other player has despite having a theoretically simple throw. Gary Anderson (6'2), James Wade (6'3) and Ben van de Pas (6'3 too) strongly prefer Tops and 18s. I'm a bit estranged when they tell me this double is good and this isn't. Meanwhile with two darts in hand every even double is good.

piqqy12 I saw him on a pic in FB alongside Snakebite, Jackpot, MVG and Wady. They were at a wall measuring the height like in the police station or so. Gary was right between the 6'1 and 6'2 bar. It's Peter Wright who's short - he was barely reaching the 5'11 bar if we count the mohawk, so this means *he* is actually 5'9. (For the record - MVG is exactly 5'11.) And Wady was between the 6'2 and 6'3 bar.

There's an inherent flaw with this. 40 may not be in the top 5 checkouts but it surely is in the top 5 doubles. It's one of the doubles where missing inside is more common. Just to clarify, 20 D10 is a 40 checkout, 16 D8 is a 32 checkout and would count for this video

I think these statistics are a load of rubbish. 161 harder than 167? Identical in my opinion. Double 14 easier than double 20? No way. Miss on the inside of double 14 leaves double 7. Miss that on the inside and you can't win. Double 20 leads to double 10 and then to double 5. Most professionals favour double 20 over 14 for this reason surely? And as someone else mentioned... 150 finish on 3 bulls in a leg of 501 is easily the hardest finish - which is why no professionals attempt it on TV and why it's never been achieved on TV

The adjustment for T17 or T19 is mathematically the same, as is the bull on the final dart. I would argue that 153 is as difficult as 143 or 133 etc etc. There was no explanation of how these statistics were calculated either.

@@giacomopietrosanti-darts1195 I think your thinking is a little mixed up. The stats are fine. They just dont mean what you think they mean. 161 is a difficult finish. It is attempted more often because 140 100 100 will get you to it. But because its hard finish, its failed more often than not. 167 is much less commonly arrived at finish. So, in a tournament it might be attempted 5 times and hit once. 161 is attempted 100 times and hit 5 times. You would argue that 167 was hit 20% of the time, but 161 was only hit 5% of the time therefore it's a harder finish. Clearly it's no more difficult than any 2 treble bull finish. Statistics can be used to support most ideas.
