Excellent video content! Apologies for butting in, I would love your opinion. Have you heard about - Rozardner Inspiring Chord Reality (probably on Google)? It is an awesome exclusive product for how to play guitar scales without the normal expense. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my best friend Jordan at last got cool success with it.

You teach with no ego at all! This really helps the focus revolve around what is needed only. No needless shredding. You also have a great ability to put everything in context without getting ahead of the student target skills. These scale videoes are the best i have seen so far for beginners. The shapes are visible, you show they are the same all over the fret board, you link the scales as they are related to eachother etc. To the point and completely understandable. This is evident through all your lessons.

I've been playing bass for over 10 years, but I'm self-taught and never really bothered with music theory. I just wanted to learn to play songs. Thanks. I’ve been playing bass for years now, self taught and was trying to help my daughter learn. Your video has been the easiest to follow. Your instructions are clear and most importantly you can see your fingering clearly. Many of the other videos didn’t show where to put your fingers and they went too quickly. We had to stop and pause it and try to work out which fret they were playing on. I am learning how to read music for the first time and your video is helping me with that too. So thank you 😊

Great Goobeldy Goo there's a lot of good information in this video! I have spent a few years just rote learning notes of songs to play bass in a group at church. Simple stuff, and I'd practice the heck out of the songs at home during the week until I could play them sped up so that I'd be super ready to play live. We got the music played and sounded OK. But I was always left wondering after practicing and memorizing songs why some notes sound good together and others don't. I had absolutely ZERO understanding of any kind of music theory for the bass. I guess this wondering has led me to seek the next level and that's where your videos have been instrumental in my beginning to understand what's really going on when I played all those songs. I'm repeating these videos until the information sinks in and I'm practicing at a snail's pace so that I can understand exactly what I'm doing as I go along. Two years ago my practices of today would have seemed impossibly slow, but the me of today is slowly gaining understanding from your kind guidance, and I'm having a blast because I understand what I'm doing. Thank you, Mark!

ive been learning the notes on my fretboard before properly engaging with scales and it has helped a fair bit IMO. In a lot of videos its a lot easier to piece together if you know the fretboard notes, and the scales will make more sense as they move across the frets. Just an anecdote for my fellow newbies. I'm learning 1 string at a time. So far I have the E and A string frets memorized. Even just knowing 2 strings has improved my ability to learn scales a bit more efficiently.

This has been incredibly helpful as someone who just picked up the bass about 6 months ago. I spent a few months just playing with the instrument and practicing finger picking but I finally decided to start learning a little bit about music theory and some basic scales. This has been a great help. You're clear and concise with teaching. I haven't run into any issues learning these aside from one detail. I'm having a lot of issues with the size of my hands. My hand from palm to tip of middle finger is about 6&1/2 inches. maybe a tiny bit more. I'm having a lot of difficulty using my pinky. I was considering getting some of those "musicians practice gloves" just to give a bit of boost to my finger size. Any other tips or suggestions are welcome!

Ok I just finished the C Major scale, and I noticed you skipped playing any open strings? Why is that? The fifth fret is the same as the next string up on all strings on the bass guitar if I am not mistaken, correct? Oh I see how you can move the pattern up and down the neck without knowing when to play sharps and flats. What about playing them all on the first four frets. If I am not mistaken you can do that correct? But you must them learn to change your fingering pattern.

Your lessons are some of the best, in this video I feel like you should have explained the minor scale from the prospective of its origin, A to A using no sharps or flats. Just like the C major scale only it creates a different pattern. This I feel would lead to a better “Big Picture” understanding of Modes, scales and how the shifting of them allows you to play uniformly in different keys, I am a beginner, trying to develop my own perspective. Not trying to second guess you here!

Your lessons are awesome. Every musician has to learn the notes and the scales. It' s like first learning the alphabet en after that learning words, sentences. These basic elements combined with an alternating picking technique should be the foundation of every bass player . When learning songs you understand of which part of any scale their made of. It makes sence. After that you play songs with knowledge and you not only play the notes of that song. It's like a langauge. I see a lot of players playing songs very well but they don't understand what they're playing. It's like speaking and don't understand the words. You're a very talented teacher. One of the best on KZbin. Relaxed and you don't rush. Keep on groovin!
