Awesome recommendations. I'm going to check them out! My favorite recent read has been Paladin's Strength. It really hits well to see a couple in their late 30s, with their comfortable banter and reliance on each other. It's so healthy and wholesome that I felt confident that they could achieve anything together.

I agree! Radiance is for me much better than the Bridge Kingdom. Not enemies to lovers but they genuinly try to make it work and they characters fit to one another. A soulmate trope does not exist but it feels like one. The BK starts so strong that I was thinking wow it is going to be a blast! But chapters 16-24 were draging the story...grand fight and truth in chapter 25, if you want to skip.

My favorite relationship in a book is the relationship between Iseult and Aeduan in the witchland series by Susan Dennard. It are two very complicated characters that have trouble dealing with emotions, but they form such a strong connecting throughout the series. I also loved the Bridge kingdom, the first two books had the best love story, but the third really was not not my thing. The inadequate heir focused way to much on the smut.

I agree, I really like romance that has more to it then only romance or sex. To me it has to be more to it then only that. I also really like my couples to be equal, not in personality but more there ideals,virtues,strength,etc… I’m pretty picky what I like in romance and it’s kinda hard to find what I like 😅

The Mousai trilogy by E. J. Mellow is a favorite fantasy romance that I discovered on my Kindle a while back. I've never heard anyone talk about it, and imo it certainly deserves more attention.

I would recommend the Drowned Empire series, it’s got fantastic characters as the story develops, complex world building and magic and definitely had that political intrigue you want!

I just found a series called Elves of Eldarlan - read the series in 2 days... they are sweet, clean Fantasy romances with good plots and a strong writing style - they are not corny love stories with cheesy dialogue, which I really appreciated.

I have very similar tastes to you on this front, and I definitely recommend you try the Innkeeper series by Ilona Andrews! Excellent mix of plot and world-building with a slow burn love story mixed in. Also lots of political drama. It's so good!

i highly highly recommend The Blood Grace Series by Vela Roth... the worldbuilding is absolutely amazing... the romance is angsty and slow burn... the smut is brilliant and i´m only on book two, but it´s the best fantasy romance i read so far...

omg i never thought i'd hear one of my booktubers speak about a final fantasy game LOL i agree completely about tidus/yuna and 'half a soul'. i genuinely think you'd enjoy most of bioware's romances-the mass effect (ME) and dragon age (DA) trilogies are some of the best rpg's to exist. they recently remade ME with updated mechanics and the next dragon age game is supposed to release either this year or next year but i 100% recommend the trilogy even with its janky controls. it's worth it for the storytelling and romances. i'm not gonna tell you what romances i think you'd like because i want you to go in knowing as little as humanly possible LOL i also don't think the newest ME (andromeda) is as bad as people made it sound.

I think my favorite romance novels are the Parasol Protectorate books by Gail Carriger. They're Steampunk paranormal victorian fantasy. The first one is called Soulless and they follow Alexia Tarrabotti, who was born without a soul and can sort of... depower the undead. The worldbuilding's great and there's all sorts of love going on, but it's not too steamy at all.

If you love political fantasy, you should read the Glass Alliance Series by Joanna Hathaway. It’s one of my favorite series and political fantasy at its best. I read it after Rosaria Munda who wrote the Aurelian Cycle recommended it. Love the Aurelian Cycle, too!
