I gotta say, you sound like a very nice type of guy! I love the way you're talking in and I the fact that you love Murakami 📚 I also read Murakami, but I am only 18, so I have not read that much... But thank you so much for making it clear, what is good to read. :D

I’ve only read 1Q84 and Birthday Girl, 1Q84 is one of my favourite books I read this year (even though it’s technically a trilogy), and Sakigake really freaked me out. I’m planning on reading Kafka on the Shore really soon :) (Also I think Aomame is pronounced ah-oh-mah-may)

became a murakami fan late last year with norwegian wood. i never knew what it was like to have a favorite author until that book. right after that i read colorless tsukuru, and his book about running which is filled with wisdom. now im reading mr wind up bird and the events in my life are nowhere near similar, but i relate to so much of what the main character struggles with. its like the more i read the more answers i get to my current situation. love you murakami

You read it twice ??? I cant even finish half of the 1Q84 yet 😂 been reading other book to avoid continuing

I just finished Wind up bird chronicle and oh my god what a ride. Honestly, the ending got me a little bit down, I hoped for something different. I bought Hard boiled wonderland and the end of the world just for the title, but hearing you talking about it like this, I think I'm going to enjoy it!

'The End of the World...' is my most favorite too. It was written 1985 that was before digital, internet, VR age yet it has all these aspects that you think normal now, included in terms of surrealistic fantasy. That fact itself amazes me. He's a genius.

What classic books are actually good? I wanna get into reading books, only read a few in school. Hamlet & A Clockwork Orange are on my list for sure.
@christiangay7933 жыл бұрын
The older you get, the more you'll be surprised how invested in classics you are becoming. But in my teen years, I remember ADORING The Great Gatsby and Frankenstein. I loved Shakespeare too, but I had to be in the mood for it becuase it's a bit difficult to read. Other than that, I also recommend The Picture of Dorian Gray and Crime and Punishment (though, the latter one is pretty long and dense and I remember only truly enjoying it and completing when I was 20 and I couldn't get into it before).

Discovered Murakami last year. Kafka on the Shore was my 1st one and instantly fell in love with his style of writing. He fascinates me in such an addictive way I am on my 5th book. =))))

I have read Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World. Thank God somebody captures the magic and surrealism of that book since most reviews about it tends to hate the book. I was mind-blown by the ending of that book and that Bob Dylan song at the end still lingers on my mind today. Though, gotta be honest. It was a task to read the the beginning. My absolute Murukami books are Kafka and South of the Border, West of the Sun.
