The difference in mic quality comes from the transmission. If you pay attention, only the ones that were wireless had just decent quality. It is due to the higher compression to avoid bandwith overflow as they're wireless. For the wired ones, (most of the times) they don't even compress the signal, it is an analog signal all the way to the PC. Then the PC charges itself up to compress the signal, but don't need to compress as much as a wireless headset. So we get a better microphone quality and this can be the same for audio. This is a thing to consider, if you want a very good mic.

I recently (a few minutes ago) broke a hyper x cloud stinger. It had a fall with my Xbox controller and it cracked and bent the aux cord. Over time it got worse and finally snapped, rendering it useless. This video just saved me from gaming with AirPods. The pair I decided to get is the Razor Black Shark V2 X. I recently bought the CoolerMaster MH630 and I really love it! It's one of the few headsets that have mesh earcups. I don't like the faux leather ones cuz I sweat a lot. This is a great budget buy and I'm glad it made it into Frank's top 5 gaming headsets of 2020.

I bought a wired v2 X after the glowing recommendation, had to return it as the sound quality was so distorted with or without the 7.1 driver enabled. It sounded like I'm listening to my pc inside of a metal box, treble/mids literally sounded like they were coming from another room (nice effect but there's no toggling it off) It had a deep bass (loved it). Beware of the Razor V2 x, they were awful.

Ordered Drop Sennheiser PC38X. Overall design, fiber instead of leather, microphone movement direction and most importantly mic quality were the main factors i decided to do it. Automute option on mic is really clever thing to do (once you raise it up). I can't wait to test them out. Thanks for this amazing review. Honorable mention in my opinion would be: Razer BlackShark V2 X for amazing microphone within 60$ (i almost bought it) but since i dislike Razer (KRAKEN X snapped in half in 1 month of usage) i decided to go for Sennheiser this time. I've bought the Blackshark V2X based on that recommandation. They are really cool but for competitive purpose. The environnemental sounds are enhanced which unfortunately (for me), makes the sound of what's happening in front of your eyes less natural and a bit dim. For example , on my previous HyperX Cloud Stinger which didn't satisfy me because of the mic quality, while playing Jedi Fallen Order i could at least distinctly listen to each different sound of lightsaber depending on its cristal; whereas with the V2X, the sound was drowned because the environment noise was enchanced. If i make sense. Really good for competition purpose, and fps-like game i suppose, but not for a "smooth" and cinematic experience. Again is for my own personal preference. Now i'm afraid all the other headphones were recommanded with that "e-gaming" purpose in mind? Why the steelseries headphones didnt make it to the list? Not that good?
