@randomfrankp Thanks so much for this perfectly timed video. I've been spending AT LEAST 2 weeks trying to decide on a new keyboard to replace my HP Omen keyboard. Can't tell you how hard it has been to figure out what layout I really wanted and what type of switches to get. The way you deepdive into each keyboard is an amazing help to me. The 30 second sound test is much appreciated. I just purchased the Hyperx Alloy and it will be here tomorrow so thanks you for the link. I love the mechanical keyboard community. I recently got into it and the possibilities are endless. Call it a useless hobby but there’s something about being knowledgable about the mechanics of what’s under your fingertips and the satisfaction it brings when you customize it. I love being able to swap switches and keycaps, build from barebones, and discussing new products with the community. Anything you can use on the daily, customize, and looks pretty is worth my money. There are lots of great mkbs for $50 btw.

i bought a red dragon keyboard and some of the switches are starting to fail particularly (A), (D). I mean they sometimes don't respond or register 1 tap twice. so that's why im here. Its not bad during casual use but when im gaming its let me down a few times or when i type an essay i have to go back and fix it.

What makes a good keyboard? Mostly I hear about how loud it is, the size, and stuff like that. But that isn’t worth like a hundred extra dollars so what makes those keyboards so high quality?

The loud noises doesn't justify how good the keyboard is. The reasons to specify a good mechanical keyboard is: switches, keyboard build, PCB, stock keycaps, the keyboard's case, extra details like: foam/ factory lube etc.
