Holy crikey this worked! For anyone whose video/audio doesn't drag into the timeline, the answer is at 7:30 and takes 20 seconds to solve. Great video Colin! More than half the battle with Adobe Programs is knowing the basics and using those skills. Colin's videos are fantastic. I always check him first. Just wanted to add that those track targeting selectors (not the input patch selectors) make so much difference once your edit is underway. They can make it seem as if there's stuff you just can't do. I often work with simple cut/copy and paste in audio and video tracks to extend a graphic or put some atmosphere over an audio glitch. Targeting decides which track that material pastes to. That made a whole load of difference when I discovered that. It has other effects too. Worth researching.

Really enjoyed this tut! Tip 5 - Selection follows playhead always nails me when I am in the Color Tab - Premiere automatically changes to Selection Follows Playhead when in the Color Tab. That's a good thing for speed. But then if you try to adjust something in the effects section while still in the Color Tab and don't remember that you're in the Selection Follows Playhead mode well ... you start scratching your head until you see the selected clip is different. Also - your first tip on frame size gave me an idea to solve a boring one camera shoot. Because final output in going to be 1080p frame size and the footage I was given is UHD, your video reminded me I can reframe and do closeups of the single cam footage to make for a more interesting faux 2-cam shoot. Thanks so much! Come on - Patreon this channel if you haven't already.

Great video, Colin, I knew these tips, but I wanted to take the chance for asking you 2 questions. 1- It is happening to me sometimes that I put a clip on tracks V1/A1 and another on tracks V2/A2, like in the last tip you have shown, while editing for the news. Clip 1 is an interview or the journalist speaking, while Clip 2 is an insert. The track A2 is used for environmental audio. I go and use gain for lowering the audio peaks of the insert (clip 2) and suddenly all the audio in common of both clips doesn’t work, while the audio running before that point works. And the wave form are there despite the audio doesn’t sound, and also when the clip 2 ends the audio of clip 1 one works. I figured out how to overcome this problem using the function S (solo audio) on both the audio tracks (A1/A2) but this phenomenon shouldn’t happen at all, especially in front of the journalists which asks where the hell is the audio. Why does it happens and what can I do in order to prevent this phenomenon? 2- The broadcast Xdcams have 8 audio channels, but I want to use only channels 1 and 2 (speech and environment). So I must select 1 clip and all the audio sources of the clip (A1, A2,...A8) activate. Then I toggle off all the source tracks from A3 to A8 and drag the clip on the timeline (or better I use a shortcut to do it) and everything is fine. But I have to do it using no more than 1 clip at a time, otherwise all the audio tracks will be added again. So I cannot drag a bunch of clips on the timeline otherwise all the 8 tracks will be added on it. What can I do in order to “set” the timeline so that it will accept only 2 tracks if I just drag more clips or a whole folder on it? I searched in the “preferences”panel, in the audio section, but I didn’t find this option. Could you help please? Thanks for your attention, best regards

For Question 2: You can Right-click on all the clips you want to change and choose Modify> Audio channels. Change the settings to Mono, 2 channels and the other 6 will not show up. You must do this before dragging into the Timeline. Here's a tutorial on changing audio settings: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJ7cfnh4fbJmqZo For Question 1: Contact me here because I may need to take this to Adobe to see if it's a bug: videorevealed.com/contact.html

Great little tricks to know. I am wondering if Adobe allows us use up and down, left and right key to select clips on timeline. That would be so important as this is the first step before you want to do anything about clips. And you know even better, by adding shift key you can select a group of clips on multiple tracks. I expect this little function from day one.

another brilliant video, but I have a question! I'm being given 4k footage but I am being asked to make HD video from that. So far I have just been scaling down each clip as i import it to my HD sequence to 50%. However this is getting tiresome, as there are lots of clips. I would have thought I could just put an adjustment layer over it all with a transform effect to 50% scale, but that gives me some very odd results. I'm reluctant to just make 4k video and export it as HD, partly because I often have to make graphical overlays, and would then have to start making them in 4k too. I could use the SCALE TO FRAME but again, I would have to do this on every clip. So, any idea on how to fix my problem, or can you suggest a better way, such as biting the bullet and going 4k then exporting as HD?

@VideoRevealed6 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure I follow your question. Premiere Pro does allow you to export any format you want, and it allows you to use any media you want. The only requirement is making a Sequence setting, which you can do via drag and drop.

About point 2, if I erase the audio channels from 3 to 8 they are not really erased but compressed under track 2 with a little “+” sign indicating it: how can I erase “definitely” them? And I would like to avoid to disconnect all the tracks, erase the unwanted and reconnect every clip with its respective A1 and A2 tracks 😆
