Honestly the axes are my favorite weapon type. Both 1 handed and 2 handed get an extra swing in their combos and have very useful skills attached to them.

Indeed! I am very unfamiliar with them as well. Just started a game and am concentrating on mastering the 2 hand axe. Their swings look so cool, plus their power hits swing more than once, which is super awesome. Just rough time adjusting to their shorter size. Lol.

Good list Sheen. *Honorable Mention: Masterpiece Hammer* _Main Reasons why it might be better than Tsar:_ It is the only masterpiece weapon which is comparable to Tsar weapons. The benefit of masterpiece hammer over the tsar greathammer is the following: 1. It does more damage on skill usage than Tsar if you have low physical damage bonus. 2. It has significantly longer reach (comparable to the manticore greatmace). 3. It has high attack speed which makes the weapon more safe, as it allows you to dodge earlier. 4. It outperformes Tsar Greathammer in regards to DPS when autoattacking due to the enhanced attack speed. When mixing skills and autoattack it might also be better. I did some calculation below to check when it is better for those curious. The main disadvantage is the durability. However, with a durability of 480 you will still be able to fit in 48 crescendo attacks before reaching 50% durability. This is more than enough to kill Calixa (boss) without even using varnishes. This means that durability is only a factor when traveling the open world, and not in end-game when fighting bosses. _A concrete example:_ This example is the best possible case for choosing Tsar Greathammer over Masterpiece Hammer. Even then you might find the Masterpiece Hammer to do more DPS depending on how much of your damage comes from auto attacks. This cross-over point will be calculated at the end. As I mentioned earlier, please note that at lower damage bonuses the cross-over point comes even quicker making the Masterpiece Hammer an even better choice, so with a cooldown reduction setup you "might" do more damage with masterpiece. Calculating base damage. Tsar Greathammer /w whiplash = 80 base damage Masterpiece Hammer /w whiplash = 70 base damage At 167% physical damage bonus: Master Kazite Oni, Pearlescent, Brigand's Backpack, Slayer's Boots, Calygrey Bone Cage, Brawns, Alchemical Experiment, Kriouac's Breakthrough, Discipline Amplified, Physical Damage Up Tsar Greathammer: 214 damage on skill usage 171 damage @ 1.0 Masterpiece Hammer: 188 damage @ 1.0 204 damage on skill usage (Note: on skill usage, the masterpiece hammer is granted another 25% damage bonus: 70*(100%+167%+25%)=204) Let x be the % damage that comes from skills relative to the total. If x=1 then all the damage comes from skills, and if x=0 then all the damage comes from auto attacks. The Tsar Greathammer is then better if the following condition is true: 214*x + 171*(1-x) > 204*x + 188 *(1-x) Which gives, x > 62% In conclusion, if more than 62% of your damage comes from skills then the Tsar Greathammer will have greater DPS than the Masterpiece Hammer otherwise Masterpiece Hammer will be better.

I totally agree. The Manticore Greatmace is super OP and totally worth the grind. Early game greathammers are really powerful with the amount of impact they deal, especially with the special attack. Such a fun way to play!!

A Niche but AMAZING Greathammer is the Astral Greathammer, low impact but it inflicts Haunted AND Doomed after a few hits, and combo'd with Torment inflict Weakened and Sapped which reduces the enemies Physical/Elemental dmg and impact all by 40% which is huge for a tanky co-op build. Did I mention it also has the fastest atk speed among hammers of 1.2 speed?

The low durability of the manticore greathammer is a big bummer.... you kill 3 mobs and it is halfway down.

It does have much lower durability than say porcelain weapons. Usually craftable weapons are like this. Even the good ones have slightly less durability sort of as a balance thing. If you don't mind sleeping often for a tent buff this isn't as big of a deal. But I agree it factors in.

I just bought the Manticore tails from the smuggler in Levant and it's about 350 silver each, when they should sell for 200. Worth it if you have no way of defeating a manticore.

Love the Pillar and Manticore 2H maces. Too bad Pyrite is not on the list. It's one of my favorites. Helped me out a lot in my early days in Outward. Less damage but better speed than the pillar, little bit of fire damage, and the best part, inflicts confusion paired with 71 impact which is very helpful for people like me who just want to spam normal/special attacks lol

Yes that was the only weapon I was sad to not put on here. I really like the confusion thing, and the fact that it has high impact. My only reason for not including it was I picked it up and stopped using it almost immediately. Id deals fire damage but doesn't inflict burning which I do not like. And Juggernaut already inflicts confusion so it didn't feel as amazing as I wanted to. But its a great weapon with a lot of utility. I just really with it dealt burning. Might be number 3 for me if it did.

Palladium Greathammer can be looted only. You need to loot chests (ornate ones) in the swamp. Not super easy to get, but the light menders tower has at least two chests that can be farmed.

The pillar is definitely a smough reference as it's description talks about how the user crushed and consumed bones with it, which is part of smoughs backstory as well.

Ghost drum is the best. I always try to carry it with me if I am doing anything serious. Its damage racks up quickly and can get you out of any sticky situation.

I'll be certainly looking forward to whenever you get to the Top 5 Greatswords. Since from what I can gather from my own experience playing its probably gonna consist of: *StarChild Claymore* (dual element with great Impact & good swing speed) *Tsar Claymore* (damage especially for builds only using skills to get their damage in using Speedster trainer for cooldown reduction) *Masterpiece Claymore* (Skill damage. Onus with 1.0 Swing speed & great durability) *Zagis Saw* (with Crumbling Anger enchantment) for damage and inflicting burning/poison/extreme poison. Can't think of a 5th currently so I'll leave it a top 4 lol.

Great options. I am struggling with the number 1 spot between tsar and starchild. Both are so good in their respective playstyles and I just don't know which I prefer. Masterpiece claymore is actually nuts if you go for a counter build and use master of motion. That's a pretty broken combination currently I'd like to think.

My ghost parallel build is my strongest for sure (although dreamer Halberd also works for same build) Manawall helm and boots barrier enchants, green copal with spirit of berg. Cabal hermit, primal ritualist, rune sage. Unbuffed I have like 22 protection and 27 barrier after getting all holy mission passives. I only really notice the physical resistance debuf If I stack it with ethereal totemic lodge which drops physical resist to like -12% lol. Take pretty much no dmg from most elemental attacks, and high protection makes up for physical weakness a bit.

I can only imagine you just standing there getting a beating and not caring at all. Manawall armor is insane and if you pair it with the totems you become a tanky monster. Kinda crazy.

The manticore great hammer is the king of the hammers. Speed, impact elemental damage, it has everything. It does specially great against human enemies . You can vanish the light mender in less than 30 secs if you watch your resistances or do good dodges. On the ghost parallel, I should say that at the beginning I found it a little bit disappointing if you compared it with our beloved dreamer halberd in terms of gargoyle extermination. But, it really shine against the dreamer Immaculate, even having so little impact, if you time ok ish your skills CD's you can stunlock him 3/4 of the fight.

Ya the manticore great hammer is absolutely insane. And I totally agree about the ghost parallel being good in the dreamer immaculate fight! I found hit to be extremely easy when using that just because the aetherbomb really backs you up!

No. 3 reason why Pillar Greathammer is great: it's easy to get. If you know where it is, you can acquire it simply by walking there, and you can do it as early as the beginning of the game. The fact that you can get such a high tier weapon so easily bumps it up on the list for me.

That's fair actually. You can easily avoid all the golems and then grab and run. I did really enjoy the impact it has when I used it.

The dagger and the two handed mace are the only weapons made from that tail. Both are extremely strong which makes sense why manticores are so hard to take down.

The Horror Greathammer is fantastic. I used it for quite a quite and had a great time. But you really need to switch to the manticore great hammer eventually because its much much better.

Might help at least a bit. They are very confusing at first.

I've just been using that character to grind silver and gear for my next one. Appreciate the weapons, tho glad to see the manicure great mace was listed. lol means I wasn't wasting time trying to save traps

I know Wind Infuse is usually the go to for slow great maces like the Pillar or Tsar GreatMace, but get good with Probe and the Speedster tree… ooo yeah. Soo good. a really different way of playing too. Still loving the Tsar GM (w/ whiplash of course) with my current build, which gets around 80% cooldown redux ( 90% is the max the game will allow I guess) with a pie or energy potion and I can just spam predator leap every 10 seconds and Juggernaut every 5 or 6 or so. And since the Tsar stuff is unbreakable, I don’t have to worry about PL destroying my weapon. But Probe has become my go to move since the Tsar is so slow, plus I get the added bonuses along the way. The slow speed is basically a non issue with the cooldown build. I can see why the Soroborean faction has so few other rewards- stacking cooldown with the right skills can be kinda busted. One shot city busted

Honestly you have a point. Probe does hit very quickly making slower weapons a bit easier to use. And yes cooldown is probably the most broken thing in Outward. It is crazy with the right skills to spam and obliterate anything in your path.
