I would suggest you to consider Davit IV the Builder, king of Georgia as one of the greatest kings of medieval Europe. He was a great warrior, great general and great reformer.

Fantastic video, as always. Just one quick note; Ferdinand/Fernando III is usually addressed as king of Castile and Leon. It's the used term in documents of his time (plus Toledo, Galicia and later on andalusian kingdoms), and in present day historiography.

Darryn Murphy that’s not really fair. He was an old man and had a heart attack or something. Just prior to that though he defeated the Seljuk turks and the Byzantine empire.

Why you didnt include Skanderbeg? He beat the ottoman empire when it was at its peak with an army 10 times smaller and not having advanced armaments like the ottomans did. He saved Europe!

I think you should have included Jaime I. el Conquistador of Aragon, who with much meagrer sources had done for the Iberian Peninsula probably more, than Castilian kings. In fact, without their interference, he could have done even more.

5# W the Conqueror!? Really, a man's funeral so marked by ill omens. A Christian Warrior-King should also be a moral pillar to his men. Baldwin the I. of Jerusalem should have gotten a spot on the list instead. He died a holy death, he accomplished much against odds and was a true knight among knights.

Honestly, Hastings should have gone the other way. Attacking up hill shield wall vrs shield wall was a rushed battle. Maybe he was afraid of his army not sticking together and felt like he had no choice. The opposition falling for the feigned retreat after hours must of broke Harold's heart, who had just won a battle, and race South to barely meet William. He must of felt great until he didn't.

Well a lot of countries did help them. Many kings refused to arrest or try the Templars even when ordered to do so by the Church.

I may not aggre with the list, but I understand it and conceided the arguments for most of them. For richard however I disagree with the number 1 spot going to a man who refused to get healed and died because of it thus leaving an entire kingdoms in the hands of an unstable cruel adolescent.

@@RealCrusadesHistory To answer for darthx4, in Régine's biography of Aliénor d'Aquitaine p270 line 19: Richard, however, did not want to aknowledge (tenir compte de loosely translated) the injury. Unable to master himself nor staying in place, he continued his usual existence...(line 25) the wound got worst, fever took him and, in a few days, all hope to save him was lost. Not a perfect translation and from the writing style i'd guess these were contemporary sources.

Great list but too much Western centric. Bolesław the Brave was a bigger warrior than at least 3 of those Kings. He fought Ruś n HRE, beat both. Tho he only become King last year of his life or just before he died, can't remember.
