Caring for Hardy Hibiscus is incredibly easy! Technically a type of perennial shrub, Hardy Hibiscus need full sun locations for the best color and won’t fade in the heat and sun. They grow best in enriched well-drained soils with regular moisture access. However, once established, HIbiscus can be very drought tolerant.
Prune all stems to the ground in late fall after the frost kills off the foliage, or first thing in spring before they start to grow and remove all debris from the area. Mulch the roots. That’s it!
Which of these fantastic shrubs are you thinking about adding to your garden this year? Let me know down in the comments. I promise you’ll love the burst of saturated color and tropical flair that Hardy Hibiscus adds to your landscape!
And until next time,
Happy planting!

Hi there! Dark Mystery is hardy in zones 4-9 and will do well outside all year in the New England area. It will die back to the ground in the winter and send up new shoots in the spring. Happy planting! -Whit
