Herbs Are Easy To Grow. Fast to start, quick to flourish, and easy to harvest. Herbs indoors and out are great crops for beginners and veteran growers alike! And although they readily grow from seed, by far the easiest way to grow many of these beauties is from cuttings!

Ironically, I just stuck some thyme from the grocery store in water next to my grocery store rosemary that is now potted into soil.

I have failed terribly at trying the start Rosemary from cuttings. I have never tried using just water in a jar. I can get the to going with hormones in soil, but after a couple of weeks they are dead. I'll have to try just water. Thanks for the info! Take care Jeff!

I’ve tried doing that with Rosemary, and it fails every time. I get some roots growing, but it dies every time I place it in soil. Never been able to get it to grow from seed, either. I like the fact that your videos are short and to the point, yet still informative.

I always see online how easy basil is to root but whenever I place it in water (I use bottled spring water) roots never grow! The plants end up dropping drying out so I guess they just die. Im not sure what I’m doing wrong

Hey Andrew, I've been there man. Remove all leaves below the water line, change the water every 3-4 days, and keep warm....above 80F.

Hey Doug, not normally. By the time you purchase them, they are often already 2-3 days old (or more). Really, if you're trying to root them, they need to get into water/soil right away.

@@TheRipeTomatoFarms What about rooting hormone? I just bought fresh Rosemary at the store (Product of Colombia). Packed in clear plastic and damp (not wet) and have been kept chilled. $2.19 for 3 long stems. I put them in a medium glass with lukewarm water and then into my bedroom plant nursery.

@@TheRipeTomatoFarms Still better than spending $4-$5 for seeds these days. Even if there trial and errors involved. Given that also, unless you got plans for the packages of herbs you probably gonna have some to spare anyways.

Also forgot to mention, the long stem were folded in half for packaging and broke, so I cut the tops off, dipped them in rooting hormone and straight into potting soil and watered. I'll see what happens in a few day. Either they die or grow. Wish me luck!
