42 YEARS OLD??? GIRLLLLL. Your skin looks AMAZING. I am 24 and mine is so freakin dry and now peeling from retin-a. I am on desperate search for a foundation. Thinking about the Georgio Armani

Thanks, Kayla! I tried out the Georgio Armani Luminous Silk - here's the full review. It's not my favorite but I like it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZmPLk4SDg7d6gMk

Your makeup looks flawless...i wonder why with Estee Lauder prices that they can't put a pump on their foundations...I love their products, but I found dupes for their liners, which are some of the best, and their eye gel. I love the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea and Mufe Stick Foundation. Look forward to your next review.
@goow7 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Linda! I tried Rainforest when it first came out and had to return it. Just didn't work on me. :-/ I don't think I've tried any MUFE foundations - must!

I always think of those MAC color designator as Not Cool (NC) and Not Warm (NW). 🙂. You reminded me to try my MAC Mineralize again. I had forgotten about it but really do like that dewy finish. I've never tried the Ester Lauder but maybe someday!! I always love to hear about favorite foundations for DRY skin. Thank you for sharing your favorites.

Hmmm.. I think I need to try the Mac Studio Sculpt. My skin is extra extra dry. I haven't found a foundation that looks amazing on me. It either looks eh or it's so bad that I prefer my face without foundation... I tried a friend's Smashbox "hydrating" foundation and it went completely matte on me and looked horrendous. :/ Your face does look amazing in the foundation you're wearing! Awesome video as always.
@goow7 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Sarah! Both of the MAC foundations I've tried (Mineralize and Studio Sculpt) seek exceptionally hydrating compared to other brands. I just got them in the spring so I haven't had a winter with them yet, but I suspect they're going to become my winter go-to when my skin is at its driest.

The Mac pump fits on the double wear! :)
@goow7 жыл бұрын
D'oh! I just bought 2 of the new Estee Lauder pumps (one for each of my Double Wears). $10 each, cha ching. Good to know though because actually I'm wondering if the EL pump is long enough for the Double Wear nude bottle. It is taller than the Stay in Place bottle.

Seriously THANK YOU so much for posting this video today. I had just bought the double wear but have been 2nd guessing it ever since. Your review made me feel so much better about getting it.

Double Wear is my default go-to for either special occasions or long days where I don't want to have to check the mirror every couple hours. It's just totally reliable on me. And I caved and bought the pumps. $10 each grrrrr. lol
@LaDonna_Arcona7 жыл бұрын
lol Ulta had a deal to get a free gift with a $40 estee lauder purchase so I pretty much had to buy the pump since it was the cheapest thing from the brand on there and the foundation was $39.50 haha

I need to try MAC foundations. Still want the Hourglass stick too. The Estée Lauder has been a favorite for years!!
@goow6 жыл бұрын
My skin has loved every MAC foundation I've tried. I'm not really into MAC makeup (for no reason other than I haven't tried much) but I was attracted to the foundation because of their standard shade scheme, and the fact that so many people seem to use it as a comparison baseline for other foundation brand shades. They really do foundation right (except for the NW for cool and NC for warm - I've been told to think of it as "Not Warm" and "Not Cool" which helps, but I still think it would have been simpler to label the straightforward status and not the opposites!)

Great job on the round up! Thank you so much! I ordered the Born this Way foundation and concealer earlier this week when they were the platinum perk of the day. Good news the new concealer shade fairest is actually fair. Bad news is I ordered the foundation in pearl and i think it's going to be too dark. I will try it tomorrow and see. I don't have the highest hopes but at 40% off I couldn't resist. My find of the summer has been the murad city skin age defense. It's a tinted sunscreen spf 50. Great on its own for sheer coverage and works well under foundation too. Chemical sunscreen breaks me out and the search for an all mineral one that doesn't make my skin sweaty or drier has been tricky. Also mineral sunscreens often come tinted and instead of the white cast they are trying to avoid they are darker than my skin tone. I'm really enjoying the murad though. The search for the perfect foundation continues.

Update on the Born this Way shade, its fine. The swatch last night looked dark and yellow but blended out on my face it's fine. Now I'm worried it might be drying. Im off to rewatch your review. By the way your dress on Snapchat was adorable! Have a great weekend!

I've got a couple shades of BTW foundation and if you do find it to be too dark, rest assured it mixes very well with white foundation mixer and other foundations. I've got the lightest shade, which is too light, and the next one darker which is too dark :-D

The Philosophy foundation, "Not into that whole dewy thing." It's so obvious this is an old video. lol I have been listening / watching yours and Bailey Sarian's videos while I put my makeup cart together. I thought it was appropriate since I've found ALL of my holy grails thanks to you! And Bailey, well, she just cracks me up.

Ooo...now I’m thinking I need to go try the Hourglass stick foundation. That price though! I would love for you to review the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD stick foundation. It’s one of my favs. Just curious how it would compare with the Hourglass one.
@goow6 жыл бұрын
I've got the MUFE on my wish list for the Sephora VIB sale in April :) Yeah the Hourglass is pricey - and the price per ounce can make you squeamish. It's up there. I wanted to buy another shade because the one I got only works when I'm my absolute palest, but I haven't been able to justify the spend. It's a great foundation, but holy cow $$$

MAC NC means Not Cool and NW means Not Warm. Crazy backwards huh? I'm going to have to grab the MAC Mineralize foundation, it sounds like a dream. 💎💫
@goow6 жыл бұрын
So backwards!! LOL but I do love their foundation formulas, backwards or not :-D Mineralize is like a drink of water. It's the Mineralize Moisturize one that I use (sometimes it looks like there are several Mineralize ones - their naming confuses me, too!)

Hi Shelly!! Can you tell me how you apply the estee lauder foundation? I have it, and bought a pump too, but the application it's impossible for me! Wet sponge, brush, hands, primer, no primer, oil, always cackey as hell. I don't want to throw it away but i don't know how to use it.
@goow6 жыл бұрын
Hi morrigan! I use a sponge for the Double Wear Stay in Place, and go little by little - definitely have to start sort of sheer and build up. For the Nude Water Fresh I use a brush because a sponge soaks up too much of it (since it's a much thinner consistency). If it's still too cakey maybe try cutting it like 1/3 with moisturizer or add a luminizer drop mix-in, or mix it with a thinner foundation. Maybe your skin/body chemistry doesn't work with the density of it.

Geek Out of Water great idea the moisturizer! Thank you so so much and greetings from Italy. ❤

Do you wear powder of any kind on your face?
@goow7 жыл бұрын
Yep I always set my undereye concealer, usually with a translucent powder (my 3 faves right now are KVD Lock-It translucent setting powder, RCMA No Color Powder, or Elf Undereye Setting Powder). Then most of the time I set my foundation as well. My favorite powders for that are Laura Geller's Balance & Brighten foundation powder and Physicians Formula Youthful Wear.

Is your skin still dry in the summer? Mine has gone back to normal probably cuz of the humidity. I can't even wear makeup in the summer:( right now we're having a cool front that moved in so I wore it today for the first time in awhile:)
@goow7 жыл бұрын
In the summer on a good day I'm only dry in patches, but after I do an exfoliation mask or something drying like that, I'm back to desert-scratchy-face. But it is definitely easier to get my skin to suck up moisture in the summer! It's not as bad as winter. But I'm always dry around my nose and between my eyes, around my eyebrows, sometimes my cheeks... oy. LOL!
@lahelamaxwell7 жыл бұрын
Just curious, what kind of climate do you live in? I'm fairly dry, and live in a very dry climate, so my foundation gets so crusty T-T
@goow7 жыл бұрын
I'm in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia - so average humidity in the winter is 55-60, and average in the summer is 65-70. So not a dry climate - pretty much right in the middle of dry and humid. Pretty moderate. I have dry skin year-round, though much worse (to the point of flaking) in the winter.

I only have one reviewed on my channel (the KVD Lock-It powder, which I like) but I do use a couple for days when I just need to run out the door. My skin is too dry to go powder-only most of the time.
