This is a wonderful and informal occasion and is the perfect opportunity to enjoy some hymns and organ music, and for you to meet people who have similar interests.
Today's Virtual Church is in honour of the 80th anniversary of D-Day where I'll play the Top-5 hymns for this occasion. We also celebrate 'The Big Hymn Sing' which is an initiative put together by the RSCM. They've chosen some of our most favourite hymns!!

In 1977 I seriously injured my right hand. I was an organist and thought I might never play again. When I got home my recording of RSCM in Royal Albert Hall arrived. 5,000 people singing hymns and The True Glory by Peter Aston. As the choir sang Nettleton I began to cry for a long time. I taught myself to read music and playon my little sister’s toy piano using Nettleton. Surgery effectively repaired my hand.

Thanks Richard, I enjoy listening to your music. I actually had the opportunity to take a ride in a Douglas C-47 Skytrain that served as the lead plane in the 82nd Airborne Division during the second wave on D-Day. It was a fun ride.

My daughter (2) and I were driving in the car when I started to catch up VC. While Richard was playing Nimrod she said "that's a nice song!". Back in the car after a quick visit to the shop she requested VC again. I couldn't agree more!

Favorite “hymn” of the evening was the beautiful Thalben Ball Elegy. Can listen over and over again!!

Wonderful commemoration! Very appropriate and appreciative of the valor and great sacrifices made on D-Day and throughout WW II.

Very nice remberence for D-Day. Please plan something like this for December 7th. This was the day Pearl Harbor was bombed by Japan. My grandfather was stationed off base whene it happened. He say the Japanese planes over head and knew what was happening.

Thank you for a very appropriate choice of music for the 80th D Day Commemoration, played so beautifully. Followed by the RSCM Big Sing where we could join in and imagine everyone else singing along too. Thanks for a great evening!
