Ditching the ego, controlling the eccentric and pausing in the stretch is the best change I ever made to my training.

Misundertanding ego. Ego makes me do things right,not wrong. Greed,over reach etc, might be better applied to sub par ,over loaded lifts. . Your ego is very valuable,do not confuse the ego with error.

Loving the return of informative long format podcasts. Just one small bit of feedback. The sound levels need to be balanced between the two hosts. Makes it an unpleasant listen having to constantly adjust volume depending on who's speaking when using my earphones 😂. Again, thanks for the video and sharing your knowledge!

I think it would help if John spoke directly into the end of his mic (like Luke) vs into the side of the mic, like it looks like he is currently doing. At least with these podcast style condenser mics. A handful of factors that contribute, but prob why John’s volume is thinner. Again, many factors at play (different mics, speaking volume, etc), but just a musician’s two cents. Cheers, boys

My favorite hamstring hip hinge is what I call toe-touch (deficit) deadlifts using dumbbells to get into a full touch-your-toes ham stretch as a starting position and stopping the movement at the knee where the stretch eases and the glutes kick in. You have to round your back to touch your toes but you're using massively lighter weights in that stretched range anyway. If you believe in stretch mediated hypertrophy this definitely focuses on the range that you can't even touch with heavier traditional SLD's - muscle spindles etc arrest the range if you try to get into a stretch with too much weight.

I would love to listen to this, and all these new podcast, but at least in my car, the sound fluctuates too much between speakers. One is loud, and the other is quiet, and I can’t find that sweet spot for the volume. Just letting you know, thank you.

Can you guys possibly talk about adductor and abductor hypertrophy and functionality a bit more? I have not had any luck growing my adductors using isolation movements and I am not sure if simple lunges to failure is enough. I squat well over 550lbs

Try super high volume on ad and abductor machine, heavy as you can go. 20 reps up
@nickw6734
@nickw6734 Жыл бұрын
@@Ryry-ig6sn yeah man I've maxed out the adductor machine at 305 for 20+ and drop sets, under control etc. With no luck. That's what I mean about isolation and having no luck. Maybe Bulgarians or something would help or if I can understand the anatomy of it more.

Will there be more in depth videos on the best range of motion for different hip hinges? I often do fairly strict to the floor SLDLs lower weight higher reps ranges. It doesn't feel bad, but now I'm wondering whether I'm gearing myself up for injury in the future 😰
@Madchris8828
@Madchris8828 Жыл бұрын
@Riley Lenahan cool. That does make sense to me. I do slow progression as well to make sure I'm staying with in the 12 to 15 rep range as well. For me difficult movements like SLDLs are not good in the lower rep ranges in any case.

Even deficit is great, it all depends on how you feel doing them...and also bracing hard is most important with these kind of movements imo

Luke: Congrats! On the new baby! Have your wife breast feed for as long as possible. On pumping: spend the money on one that can be hands free because storing milk is really important. Also, when storing the milk. Do not freeze right away or put it in the fridge. Leave it out for 2 hours. Recommended 4 hours. Important: If you freeze it or chill it your baby might not drink it because of high lipase in (varies from women to women) the milk i.e. it smells strange after rethawing it. I am assuming ya'll know this already. Also, when transitioning to baby food. Make it when you can. Introduce spices early on when solid foods come in. My son is 18 months old and getting into 3t clothing. Completely aware of his surroundings. He was taking steps at 8 - 9 month. walking at 11 months. The daycare provider We have in 20 years has never seen a child at one year eat waffles, beef stick, ground beef, or push a car like he was 2 or 3. Also, he was pushing his shopping cart the other day in the grocery store picking out items he has seen my wife and pick out. As I am listening to this further I asked my wife who is pediatric nurse on the sleeping issue. Swaddle the baby and get one of those cribs so your wife can be as close to her as possible. Being up every hour will be normal for a few weeks. It will get better. Cheers! p.s. things might be off for a while with your wife. Be graceful. The reassurance in incredibly important. These are a few things I had to learn on the fly.
