@@jimnfl7134 I love twilight princess. You have to have the right attitude to enjoy it. It’s not something you can rush through. I like ocarina of time too. I put it in the same place he did as well. Breath of the wild triggers me not enough not to play it but I don’t like ravioli or the king. I came kinda late to the party for someone my age but I don’t play a link to the past. I had saga as a child.

After I beat Majora's Mask i think in 2002, MY next Zelda game was NOT until Spirit Tracks almost 10 years later. Was into two Myst Games and Civilization II and III at the time,

Nice video! I appreciate the love you gave to TP. I had the same experience. It was the 4 Zelda game I ever played and I thought it was an instant classic from start to finish. Probably the best blend of story meets exploration. My list: 5. Links Awakening/Breath of the Wild 4. Skyward Sword 3. Wind Waker 2. Twilight Princess 1. Ocarina of Time

I'm not gonna lie I was almost offended when you put BOTW at 4, but your reasoning makes perfect sense. BOTW is one of my favorite games of all time but you ranked it perfectly. In terms of a Zelda game there are better ones. Putting Twilight Princess at 1 is the most valid thing ever. Twilight Princess was the Zelda game I grew up on and one of the first games I got for the Wii. Truly a fantastic game in its own right.

Good video. I left a sub. Though I pretty much completely disagree with your choices (not that that's a problem or anything). Twilight Princess being at the top, instead of the usual BOTW, is pretty refreshing though and I always did like that game quite a bit, aside from its very slow start. The vibes are pretty cool and Midna is definitely one of the best-written sidekicks in the series, though I did find the art style and some of the designs to be a bit off-putting and maybe overall it felt a little too... tryhard edgy? Not to an extent where it would ruin the game or anything, but I always felt like it's just a slight bit off. I also thought they could have done more with the Twilight Realm mechanic and stuff (like use it more actively for cool puzzles and mechanics somehow) and the pacing wasn't always great either. It also didn't QUITE live up to its reveal trailer but then again, many things don't. The most glaring omissions, especially since they aren't even honorable mentions, are Wind Waker and, especially, Link's Awakening, the latter of which is either my personal favorite or second-favorite in the whole series. I also, personally, would have ranked ALTTP higher (#1 or #2) and left out BOTW completely (I don't like it much at all) and only had an honorable mention for Zelda 1, which was great for its time and deserves a ton of respect and is still enjoyable today, but has, imo, been one-upped by almost every game in the franchise. That's just me though.

I never got to play twilight princess, but I do remember trying the demo in a target in like 2012 ish. I fell in love with the graphics and the controls. Unfortunately, I never did get a copy till we sold our wii.

It’s a wonderful game, if you do someday get the chance to play. Many would argue that the HD version on the Wii U is superior to the original. Hopefully Nintendo will re-release it for the Switch at some point.

Thank you for using the original game footage for ocarina of time and Majora's mask. It bothers me when every review, retrospective, and opinion piece always use the 3ds for their footage as if that is how the game always looked. I love the original graphics, nostalgia maybe but they look beautiful still. No surprise, but I disagree with your list. However, I agree that breath of the wild is not the best Zelda game. I'm a little sick of everyone saying it's the best every single time. It's stale, and just a safe pick IMHO. Not to say it's a bad game( far from it) but I would hardly say it's as revolutionary as everyone says. Ironically, they say it's revolutionary but also say it's a love letter to the original. It's pretty funny. My own list...hard to say but this is a decent try. 1.ocarina of time(The music, oh the music. The story, the innovation, the adventure, this game defined Zelda and was the bar for over two decades[I'd debate it still is]. What this did for the series and video games as a whole cannot be understated) 2.majoras mask(I actually think this is the better game, but I take that as bias rather than objective analysis) 3. A link between worlds (such an underated game) 4.oracle of ages/seasons (seasons was my very first video game ever and I loved it to pieces) 5. Twilight princess (very good Zelda game, it felt a little too safe to me to be better, but was incredibly well done. Midna is amazing, music is very good, and it was a beautiful game.)

Dig your list! I’m not much for TP, but I’m always happy to see inclusion of handheld titles and you chose my two favorites. I cooled on OoT lately but honestly that’s probably just from overplaying it. There are a lot of things that are difficult to discover but ultimately accomplish little… but when I remember how I felt the first time I played it I’ve got to admit it’s one of the best. Regarding your points on BotW, I think it is the best first time experience of all, but replayability isn’t great… the wonder of discovering what’s possible was just incredible. But then you figure it out (mostly) and it gets more routine. I do get why people feel it isn’t “Zeldalike” enough but for me I thought “huh, how does this feel like Zelda even with all these changes?” I will maintain that it’s revolutionary if for no reason other than it allowing you to climb almost ANY surface in the game (revolutionary for most games) And for finally giving the npcs proper homes to live in (revolutionary for the series) and fleshing out their cultures more than ever. It does lack a lot but hopefully TotK will fix that 😁

Hard to have a top 5 because this series has only greats games. I didn't play Oracle of ages/seasons and Adventure of link, so can't judge them. But I think I'd say : 5) TP. I understand why it's a great game. A lot of diversity, very cool items, astonishing visual etc. But I don't know, everytime I played it, I always have moments like " Oh no, not this part, I wish I could skip it" 4) Minish Cap. I think this game is underrated. Great dungeon (I mean, the wind palace) , fun mecanics. I dare to say it's a link to the past but better. 3) Ocarina of time. I don't have anything else to say, it's ocarina of time. 2) Breath of the Wild. Every time I play this game, there is always a moment I discover a new mecanic, a new thing to do. It's huge, it's beautiful, it's fun, and zelda's story is very sad and beautiful. 1) Wind waker. I can't find anything wrong in this game. The music is perfect, it's fun, beautiful...

I don't think I could rank them. It's hard to pin point one over the other with them each having their own qualities that make them endearing to me. Wind Waker is my favorite 3D game but that's a nostalgia based, biased opinion. Link's Awakening is the same for 2D. So as I type this, this is the list I conceived that's bound to change: 5. A Link Between Worlds 4. Minish Cap 3. Breath of the Wild 2. Link's Awakening 1. Wind Waker But this omits games that at one time or another would or should be included: Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, A Link to the Past, Majora's Mask. I just don't know. There's not a single, canonical game I dislike. They all have something that makes them special to play in the moment and the memories of first playing them always standout in my mind. Loved this series for as long as I've loved video games back in the NES to SNES days.

@@thezapzapman surely you can; I think this whole video kind of makes a different argument! 😉 I came to the series from the original LA, and thus was blown away with how much Oracles improved upon every aspect (except story) I still think they are the right kind of ambitious with ideas I’d love to see again, like the gasha seeds and rings, maple encounters, the unique animal mounts, good overworld challenges to reach dungeons, the concepts of Subrosia and seasons mechanic, and the potential for future stories centered around places other than Hyrule with their own royalty etc. BUT… I must concede that there is probably a dose of nostalgia coloring my high ranking for these - along with the sentiment of them being full of things I’d like to see better realized. Thanks for asking; it’s really nice to meet fans who are willing to both share and listen!
