Holy metformin batman! You are hilarious doc! Just subscribed :) Oh yeah. Don't know about low B12, but I had the cramping, bloating and the *ahem* "runs" for as long as I've been taking it. They told me it should go away, but it didn't. So when COVID hit, I stopped taking it.

No, been taking metformin for over 25 years, 2X1000mgs daily. Works great for me, no side effects, A1C normal for a non-diabetic and..I'm 78 now, maybe it does also have that "longevity effect" it's being tested for. From my experience there is no reason to fear talking metformin.....

I was on Metformin for years for PCOS and high insulin resistance. I wish I had been talked through the side effects. I developed issues with low vitamin B12 but no doctor told me it could be connected to being on Metformin, it was assumed to be because I was a long term vegetarian then vegan. Fortunately I was able to come off it as I had a mini gastric bypass in November. Fingers crossed I won't need to go back on - my diet has changed completely.

Metformin allergy effects, which can include arthritic joint inflammation, psoriases, extreme thirst, extreme bloating, and heart arrhythmia. One should never allow a primary care physician to deny the side-effect symptoms just because they are not widely recorded or reported 'in the literature'.

Thanks for posting that. I think I may have some kind of allergic reaction to it. My peripheral neuropathy has only gotten worst even with the intake of b1 and methyl b2. I have burning almost overnight. I only had some numbness before. One of my knees I can’t no longer kneel even when kneeling on a sofa. All this in less then 3 days of starting the med.

I started taking metformin 15 years ago without problems - 750TR twice daily. But a year ago I started having diarrhea occasionally. I have cut back to 1 tab and it is reduced. Guess I should ask for a lower dose. ???

I wish I got diarrhea from it, but instead, I was severely constipated, extreme bloating and pain. It was horrible. I had to discontinue. No weightloss, unfortunately. I originally was taking it because Doctor's thought I had PCOS.

Metformin causes lactic acidosis and deficiency in Vitamin B12 and causes the body to suffer. Metformin causes you to lose weight and look aged. Your friends will notice the change in look and physique and question whether you are diabetic. I am very grateful to a female pharmacist who whispered to me that if I exercised and stayed away from sugar, I can throw the 3 month supply of metformin that I was holding in my hand into the dustbin and I did exactly that on 10 July 2010. I have been a diabetic for 26 yrs now and exercise daily. I stay away from the sugars sucrose and fructose. You can live without fruits and vegetables. The only vegetable that I consume is the herb celery which gets rid of heavy metals in the body. The fructose in fruits affect your mitochondria and causes inflammation in the body. I am virile and healthy at age 76 yrs. A diabetic must consume soaked fenugreek seeds (one tablespoon for 24 hrs) to be virile and healthy. Please do not touch any diabetic medicine. Exercise and avoiding sugar, MSG. caffeine, A1 cows milk, vegetable and seed oils is the key. Gluten free A2 cows milk and goats milk can be consumed.

My naturopath recommended metaformin to reduce sugar in my body while I fight cancer. Would you agree this is a good strategy. They say cancer cells love sugar as fuel?

I was taken off Metformin because I developed Fecal incontinence so glipizide was substituted, Since the diarrhea continued I was put back on Metformin with the glipizide and Imodium.

Lactic Acidosis is horrible. Took metformin for 30 years. Looking back I think I've had LA 3 times. Although the first time they had no idea what was wrong with me. I was always talked into going back on it. LA sneaks up on you and before you realize it your feeling weak and worn down, with awful stomach and right side pain. Digestive enzymes with bile help the liver pain. I've just stopped metformin again 2 weeks ago. That's it for me.

I have T2DM, and my A1C is 6.7. I was on Metformin 500mg BID, and I had severe dizziness and stomach pain, then I had to stop it and change to Glimepiride. However, I am having dizziness with Glimepiride too and weakness, to a point that I can not even drive. Is there any medication better than those two? I feel so scared if I can not find anything better.

I have been taking Janumet 50 for a couple years. I was on Met before that. It has been decent, with no side effects. Talk to your doctor about it.

Berberine is natural and like metformin. I have lost 20# in a month after taking. Berberine for 60 days! I am type2 diabetic, insulin dependent, on Victoza pen, sliding scale Insulin, Synjardy and I am supposed to be on lantus pen 62mg once a day. I quit lantus because my sugar levels dropped after being on berberine. 😊 I am off my high blood pressure med, as my BP is normal. I have metabolic syndrome, CPOS, fibromyalgia and CFS, hashimoto's, ADHD and other health problems. I am 63 now and have not weighed 150# since I was 28! Berberine has to be the breakthrough for me!

Thank you for the information. I’m on Metformin for 5 weeks. I have diarrhea and have lost 3 pounds. I have taken an ant diarrheal pill 2 times and it help out. I.had lab work and my numbers are good . My cholesterol is high but I will work on lowering my HDL/LFL Numbers.

My peripheral neuropathy has only gotten worst with metformin. I got both vit B1 and Methyl B2 because I know of it’s affect on b vit’s. But it was almost overnight the I had more then numbness, I have pain. I am going to stop the med and just go low carb.

Wow doc loved your informative video on this so called met being Givin to me many years but I've been a diabetic 2 for 12 yes. OK still am one but ive managed control too late so far have had 3 toe amputations left foot aftermath pain goes on its torture but i deal with it, ok I've recently got scared so i stopped taking met I've had B 12 def and i take that sometime i also take a multi vit I'm ok but want no more amputation sick of them I did have many diarrea bouts but they stop here and there am forgetful at times but not gonna take met anymore am 69 years i ve had a fantastic healthy life until becoming a senior I'm a fighter, anyway thanks doc....

High blood sugar levels are a sign of dehydration because perspiration and urine remove water and salts from the blood but do not remove sugar. If the blood Viscosity is high, the blood sugar percentage will rise and not vice versa. When you reduce your salt intake due to your blood pressure is slightly higher than normal and doing so indicates high blood sugar due to less water percentage in blood, but it is not a disease. But the GLYCOSURIA (Sugar in Urine) & the POLYUREA (More urination than usual) are diseases. DIABETES is not a disease, although blood sugar rises due to reduced salt consumption. This is just a symptom of an imbalance of electrolytes.
