I haven't had cable in 4 or 5 years. Once in awhile when my parents go on trips I head to their house to steal their food (lol) and I'll have their tv to myself. I don't miss it at all! There's so little I want to watch. I've grown use to watching exactly what I want to watch, exactly when I want to with my computer. Between hulu, torents netflix and amazon prime I'm never out of great things to watch. I'm so glad to be done with cable tv.

The best thing I ever did was switching to a laser printer. Brother 3 in 1 refurbished from Staples for $70 and the included powder is still good. It's been 6 months and our family use it everyday. Replacement drums are only $24 on Amazon and sometimes $12 on slickdeals.

I agree with the cable. Working all day you don't see a lot of it so I was glad when I found that my building has basic cable for free. I don't need a dvr and no need to upgrade.

1:54 Its true..I've had a Black and White Inkjet printer for 7 years and still has some time left, its quite good and you can get a couple of them these days for about $242 but it will last (HP LaserJet 1012)

Every time an inkjet printer starts up, it flushes the ink conduits with a tiny amount of ink to make sure there are no blockages. This over time wastes ink. Couple that with the occasional dirt on the printhead that eats more ink in the self-cleaning process and reprinting material lost to a paper jam and it adds up.

We dropped cable in early January of this year, I can't see ever going back. We run an OTA antenna through a TiVo so we can DVR and then feed that through a Google TV Box for KZbin, Netflix, Amazon, and even Hulu (with Plex). The transition was so simple I don't know why everyone else hasn't dropped cable.

PS. On Donald Bell's comment that only Drug dealers/criminals & the elderly use basic feature or dumb phones, I am in my 20s and have no relationship to crime, and I use basic phones cause they're more suited for what I want them for. I use a basic phone to text rather than a touchscreen smartphone because I like typing with keys and I use a flip phone for calling as the mic is by your mouth & speaker by your ear at the same time, but that's more a problem with the bar design then anything else

When had that here too up until 2009 when a 3rd mobile provider was launched. They mainly concentaged on the main population centers first, offering cheeper mobile boardband rate in certain zones. And when you leave this company's coverage area, they have a contractual agreement with another provider to provide "National Roaming". Anyway, don't you Americans also have T-mobile and Sprint and all those virtual operator like Boost and Virgin?

yeah companies today have become very corrupt and greedy. My family is paying big bucks to AT&T for our cellular service while my buddy is paying 1/4 of our bill with his Sprint coverage. The only problem with that is the service is shitty.

Definitely cable TV - I use Amazon Prime instead. As far as internet is concerned, cable companies "lite" service is usually adequate. I've had Time Warner's lite service, and was still able to stream video ok. Not in HD mind you, but still adequate.

The real problem is people's outlook on what people should have automatically, and they're stupid reasons to shun those who decide not to fall for consumerism. Not everyone needs a smartphone, but they have to get it just to get everyone of there back.

Wouldnt it be ironic if we were watching CNETTV's money-sucking tech using internet? I think If we cancel out cable TV, cable/wifi internet and subscribe for a phone with internet access (that can also serve as a wifi hotspot) then that is a brilliant solution. However, it depends on the users usage yo!
