Who doesn't love a blue tongue? As an Aussie, it's so strange that they're so rare and expensive in other places. Super easy and cheap to find and buy here, often a first reptile for many keepers.

My blue tongue skink is absolutely brilliant, I can't recommend them enough. Always so active and alert. When I open the viv and make pspspsp noises comes running over. 😆 Sometimes I forget he's a reptile and not a tiny cat. I especially enjoy feeding him, he loves food and will eat almost anything, it's a lot of fun preparing his meals! Variety is the best form of enrichment for these guys.

My bearded dragon was being super active in her enclosure today, so I decided to take her out and let her run around. They are a blast to watch. And the best part is, she watches us right back. Whenever we walk past her enclosure, she'll tilt her head and move around to see what we're doing. They are very interactive and they really do get into everything. I just cleaned her enclosure and she was already spending the whole day rearranging it to her standards (AKA bulldozing everything over). Absolutely one of my favorite reptiles and I agree, not a very "beginner friendly" pet.

I love the curious ones !! I’d love to have those day geckos 🦎 they have in Hawaii, they’re adorable, they come and drink the condensation off your water glass when you’re having breaky in an open air restaurant. Colourful, and toats interesting to watch!! We look for them tucked into the base of large leaves where it meets the main plant stem in the mornings, all snoozy and waking/warming up in the Hawaiian morning sun. My fav wild herp to watch! Of course, I adore my beardie!

I handle and hand feed my green anoles. They are surprisingly chill when taken out and mine just nap on me. usually.. sometimes they get jumpy, but it's not the same as one who hasn't been handled and they are easy enough to get back. Ours were nursed back to health wild anoles that our cat caught. One of them that I named Sparta. He charged our 15 pound cat and fought back.. dewlap out, scratches all over him, and a mouth full of fur. He has healed up nicely, eats well, and his tail is coming back in.

So I feel so much better, I know with babies, that is really a crucial step to successful ownership. Now I’m going to give him a couple of days to digest and then I’m going to start working on him getting used to me and being handled. Now I have to go find the baby hog snake video. It would just sit on my shoulder and never once tried to escape... One time when I was out collecting for the paper, a female customer said "Oh, what a cool broach" and she reached out to touch it... when it moved she about jumped out of her nickers and then started laughing... That was nearly 40 years ago, but I still miss the little fella...

I’m a beginner who got a beardie, but don’t kill me. I did the research, considered other reptiles but I just really wanted a bearded dragon. He’s doing great and has really come a long way with handling. He was very skittish at first but he’ll willingly climb onto my hand now and he’ll actually chill with me while I read or watch videos. They’re awesome pets! It’s a lot of work but it’s honestly easier than I thought it would be after all my research. All of the videos I saw said not to get one as your first reptile but I had my heart set, and I don’t regret it. I agree that it would have been smarter to get a leopard gecko or a crested gecko but it’s going really well, and I’m enjoying every second of it (except cleaning the poop but what are you gonna do)

My California kingsnake is always on the move around his enclosure. But out of all my reptiles, he's also the one who likes to interact with me the most. His enclosure is at shoulder level with me, so when I walk past, he'll come up towards the front of his enclosure and will watch me when I'm doing stuff. He also is one that definitely uses every inch of his enclosure and knocks the fake plants that are suction-cupped to the glass down.
