Hi pal, I'm pretty new in the world of working inside the Android hood. I'm still a noob but I wish to learn about a lot of the modding aspect about android such as the bootloader, recovery, zipalign, flashing rom image, de-odex etc. Do you have videos covering those basic guides for someone entering the 'behind the scene' into android? If not, it'd be very much appreciated if you could cover those. Also, I have a basic question. I heard a lot people talk of .ftf. Is .ftf = rom = firmware? Are they the same? A lot refer about those those technical aspects in their talks for example on xda forum but nowhere there seems anybody to have explained them as a guide for beginners.

Nice video, but in theory when you "root" your phone, you just get root access in the current ROM. In other words, you can also flash a custom ROM/recovery without rooting your phone, or install a custom ROM that doesn't even have root access.

The Android Guy already subbed after this one, I'll definitely check out those apps as well. And yep, Nexus devices are amazing for modifications, especially the N5 (which is why I bought it). I've installed 15 separate ROMs in it using MultiROM, and can boot into whichever I like! (Including Ubuntu, Sailfish and Firefox, and even HTC Sense 6!)

Louie Alouie The Htc sense UI is minimalistic. It will give you a stock Android feel but that's it. You don't get many features. Good roms are pure custom roms, those roms which are not based on any pre existing roms eg. Cyanogenmod roms, etc

good video, but you can directly flash custom recovery once you unlocked you bootloader...no need to root your device for flashing twrp recovery/clockworkmod...and once you do that, you can flash any custom roms and then you have to flash supersu to get root access in the custom rom...on some cases you don't even have to flash supersu as on some custom roms the supersu is already there...

The Android Guy, could you explain how you get Google Play to recognise your phone after rooting. I can log in to my account in a browser and view all the apps I had installed before the phone was rooted but when I try to re instal them Google never delivers them to my phone. This is the third model of this phone I have owned (I lost one, one was faulty from new and there third one had a failed android update, which is why it is now rooted) and three phones are listed but which ever one I select I get a message saying the app will be downloaded to my phone but it doesn't arrive... ever. You don't really own an Android device u Root It-said by someone Hold your device look at it and think about things that you don't like. +Martz Lavot if you have MultiROM. download it from playstore and install. from it you can instal how many roms you want. when you power on your device the multirom will start and there you will choose the rom you want to start. it will have a function to autostart the standard rom. if you wait 5 seconds.
