Not the best video. Here's why: Your title is "Here's why you should root your android phone" to which you proceed to list off reasons YOU or others have ALREADY DONE. What does that mean? The typical user who doesn't know a root from a jailbreak will not be swayed by this video, and in fact will likely be more scared than ever to go through with the rooting. You list off various reasons someone who has already rooted their phone will like to see, but for the typical guy, what the hell is the point? To back up the phone? That was the only well-talked about point. Backing up your phone is important, but it's not going to sell someone on rooting their device, especially when you mention how you can break the device upon rooting it and have to restore via back up. After that, you talk about various ROMs, but the typical user doesn't know what those are. Are they ROMs that let you play NES games? Are they ROMs that make your phone run faster? What do they do? Rather than list off this and that the ROMs can do, you should have SHOWN us. Showing why this or that is cool is much better than running through every reason why it is cool. If you show us, we can draw from what you're showing us as to if it's worth it. "Woah, my phone can't do that! And we have the same phone! Awesome, I'm definitely going to root" But sadly, all this video is is rom rom rom back up root room. And that's alright. Maybe you're not the best salesmen, but you're a good teacher. You could maybe show people who already rooted their phone a few good roms they have never heard of, but you're never going to convince someone at this rate. Rooting is scary, and you do very little to ease them into it. Just calling it like I see it.

Calm down man. If you want to know more there is this site... Its not actually a site but you can type away your questions there, it's called google.com . I'm not trolling you, if you have the curiosity it's as simple as that, I've rooted dozens of different devices for friends and my own and flashed hundreds of roms on my phones and that is the only guide I ever used and I never bricked any phone. (Brick is when you f*** things up and the phone is useless). The typical user can type "android roms" and learn what they are, or type "how to root my galaxy s4" (Or whatever phone he has) and find it out. It's a bit shameful but I didn't even know what wifi was when I got my very very first android phone, but I looked it up I didn't know how to root a galaxy S3, but I've rooted something like 6 or 7 of them by now, because I wanted to know and I looked for the information on how to do it and learned it! I went out of my way to learn these things, and keep in mind, I am not a developer nor even a basic programmer, but I've been pretty successful so far, so it's really not that hard! So if you or anyone wants to know more, simply go on google and look it up! The only thing I can tell you is that every device has it's root method, or even many root methods, and some are safer then others. Stop expecting people too spoon feed you the information you want and go look for it, that's the main point of the internet, a super brain holding all human knowledge and making it accessible to anyone! So calm down, this video isn't a propaganda to convince you to root your phone in the first place, the common user is probably not interested in rooting anyway, Taylor listed things you can do after root, if those things seem appealing to you head on over to google, if not then.. Well... I don't know... Watch cat videos... or something... Just calling it as I see it (too)!

5 years ago rooting was a must (or if you have a 5 yr old phone)...these days rooting is mostly for customization.... ...developers, especially Android, are giving us a lot more control over turning apps on and off, clearing cache, etc.....overclocking is "overrated" (no pun intended)...quad core snapdragon 805 cpu's are plenty sufficient and there are tons of apps that bypass the few restrictions that remain today.

I really think that rooting your device gets more obsolete from year to year. Back in the days, Samsungs came with a TON of unnecessary bloatware and battery-drainers that really had a great impact on the system. So in order to run your device faster and longer, rooting was heavily required. Nowadays, Samsung and most other manufacturers managed to drop a huge amount of the bloatware, optimizing their custom OS and therefore making it less and less attractive to root your device and risk losing your warranty and breaking the whole device by installing ominous ROMs!!

Still get benefits today. Like Greenify working optimally, like Xposed, Magisk (and the epic modules that come with those last two). It's also very useful for power users, especially ones that have work in IT.

Yeah, but the target audience I was talking about is the average customer who doesn't even know what Greenify is and never heard of Xposed. Of course, IT guys who know what they're doing and how to optimize their device, are better off with rooting it. In the end, it comes down to personal preference (like everything in electronics :P)

Launchers are home screen replacements for the factory UI. They can be used/run on top of a non-rooted or rooted phone, either or. I have six launchers on each of my devices that I can change back and forth to in less than 10 seconds if I'm bored. I find NOVA to be as close to stock as they come while Go launcher the most changeable with the most themes available on the market.

Hey guys i just rooted my phone because of bloatware/addware that installed it self as a system app, it was the only way to remove it. But i have scanned my phone with malewarebytes and other software and they all say its safe now. I used kingroot and then replaced it with supersume, but is it safe to use the phone rooted with simcard, facebook and bank app where my privacy is not at stake or do i have to unroot my device again???

The black red is essentially a wallpaper and a few widgets using Action Launcher (not a ROM). What did you mean by white ROM? Anyway, the Action Launcher setup can be done on any android phone.

if you get tired of(or hate) touchwiz, rooting would eliminate that problem for you. you can add a ton of themes that drastically change the way your phone looks/feels, not just tiny changes like in go launcher. the s4 has great features but rooting would add a ton more

In the case of administrator of rooting is not the same of being the admin of a the phone bill. So, no, she won't have your private info unless she set it up that way with you service provider. You will get be able to control your phone from "within" (if that makes sense.)

Action Launcher Pro, its pretty neat, you can access apps alot faster and easier without all the fancy bells and whistles some launchers add like graphical effects. :)
