So much great information! I agree that the north side of Lake Hickory in Bethlehem offers a great alternative that is “almost northwest Hickory” but is more affordable.

Right?! We are so glad you agree! So many benefits to being just across the bridge, and that’s the natural path for expansion of NW Hickory. Especially as the NCDOT makes road widening adjustments to allow for better traffic flow across the water!

@@LifeInNC We currently live in the Washington, DC area, but have lived in several other states as well, including Ohio, Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, California, and Hawaii. We are on the verge of retirement and are seriously considering moving to Hickory then. We almost bought a house in NE Hickory 6 years ago but we thought it was too soon. We may retire in two years to Hickory, so I keep an eye on Hickory real estate, which is basically half-price of where we live now in Northern Virginia. Ssssh. Don’t tell anyone. 🤫
