My EDC pencil is actually an inexpensive propelling lead holder from the dollar store. The Dollarama Studio 2.0mm is a decently comfortable to use pencil. the only downsides are the built-in sharpener is dull and the clutch mechanism isn't quite strong enough to prevent the lead from turning when it snags in sharpening.

My go to pencils: 1st. Alvin Darft-Matic Drafting Pencil loaded with "F" lead. 2nd. Dixon Ticonderoga Black HB Pencil with the Derwent Knurled Grip Black metal Pencil extender. They way I set it up was drilling a hole in the end of the extender so that I can use it as a grip on full size Ticonderogas effectively turning the pencil into something in between a mechanical pencil and a wooden pencil that is very comfortable to write with. 3rd. Ohto Promecha 1000P drafting pencil, an excellent pencil for on the go work! 4th. Rotring 500, which is a lighter version of the fabled Rotring 600 that is good for me since I got somewhat delicate hands.

It would be interesting to see your take on the Pica Pencil, which a lot of carpenters are raving about. I'm looking for something longer than the Koh-i-noor as the stubbys just don't feel right... plus being left-handed, smudges are a thing. Longer mechanicals will allow me to pencil from afar.

I enjoy using my 5.6mm Wörther Compact Clutch Pencil it is very high quality the one flaw is the lack of a sharpener would recommend though
@WoodGraphite8 жыл бұрын
I've been eying those up for a while. A sharpener is nice for the 5.6mm, as they can get quite stubby after long drawing periods

Monstertruck is an appropriate description :D It has great heft, just feels incredibly sturdy and is great for shading larger areas. If I have any complaint (although minor) it´s that the top clicker sits a bit loose and makes a slightly annoying rattle when moving the pen quickly.

Just stumbled across your videos not long ago, might order myself a Koh-I-Noor 5.6mm Clutch Pencil 5359 for writing in my pocket notebook. Would love to know your thoughts on this pencil.
@josephmelchor76619 жыл бұрын
I haven't seen a review on your channel, or any mention of it in this video so I was wondering about the koh-i-noor 5359, I like something with a pocket clip for easy access, but can't find a video of it. Wanna be sure its a winner before I invest the money and time waiting for it to ship to my front door. Would love to hear your thoughts on it and recommendation of the product. I do want to edc it by the way.
@WoodGraphite9 жыл бұрын
I saw the 5359 when I was in Prague, but I don't have one to review. Perhaps I'll pick it up in the coming months. I can say that every KIN pencil I've handled is superb quality, and their clutch pencils are rock solid for EDC. If you are buying one, get a few packs of Graphite. I suggest one pack in your preferred grade, and another mixed (for swapping out) the 5.6mm lasts a good long time but if you are ordering it up from overseas the last thing you want is to run out of lead! Thanks for getting in touch, if I can help let me know

Can't find anywhere that stocks the mini 2mm Koh-I-Noor clutch pencil. Will have to settle for the full-size ones. Already have one each of their basic black 5.6mm and magic design 5.6mm clutch pencils, those things are so well built and nice to use - very much liking the Koh-I-Noor products I have tried so far (also have a set of the magic colouring pencils). Just waiting on a box of 5.6mm Koh-I-Noor metallic leads and a box of Palomino Blackwing 602s to come through the post to try out next, your channel may be fuelling a new-found pencil addiction lol. Will keep an eye out for one of those bullet pencils next :-)
@WoodGraphite8 жыл бұрын
Awesome! I'm convinced those mini clutches are sold in the Czech Republic only :( . KohINoor is an a amazing brand, one of the few to still make high quality tools at affordable prices. The 602s are tremendous, one of my favourites. It's a rabbit hole for sure, glad to have you in the community! If you like bullet pencils, keep your eye on MetalShopCT. New Kickstarter on the way, wooden bullet pencils, amazing.
@fattymoomooman18 жыл бұрын
Ok my Blackwing 602 pencils have arrived, sharpened up the first one and started writing. Wow, no pressure required at all to write with it - there is a serious difference between that and anything I have used before. I get wrist cramps after writing for long periods, I expect these pencils will help a lot there as the amount of effort required to write with them is minimal. Going to take a few in to work to use there and will also add one to my colouring set alongside my Polychromos - not sure what mileage it will get in that set but its too good to leave out lol. Subbed to your channel, not sure if its a good idea though as it might lead to more expensive purchases down the road :-)

Ok managed to finally find the 5228 short 2mm clutch pencil on amazon.co.uk. Seems just searching for it using common strings such as 'short clutch pencil' did not work, instead I found another Koh-I-Noor item, clicked the link to the manufacturer at the top of the item page and scrolled through their inventory until I found it. They only cost £4.20 but are classed as an add-on item so need to have a total order value of £20 when ordering one. Amazon also stock the leads but they are for the 120mm pencil so probably best to buy those and cut them in half for use in the shorter model.

Do standard width pencils fit in the midori brass bullet pencil, or is it designed to use only midori refills?
@WoodGraphite8 жыл бұрын
The Midori refill is slightly thicker than a normal pencil. Palomino Blackwings will fit perfectly, and most other pencils will too, albeit with a sellotape shim if it's a little loose.

The Midori is a great pencil holder but the refills are very expensive. But I solved that problem. I use the little pencils that they give away for free when you purchase and fill out lottery tickets. I just cut off about 8 to 10 millimeters from the back of the pencil and it fits in the cartridge like a champ. Amazon wants a outrageous price of 10 dollars for 4 pencils. Now I have a supply that should last me the rest of my life for free, well.i had to buy the lottery ticket. Lolol. If your lucky sometimes they have the pencils laying on the table and you can take quite a few for free.

Wood & Graphite .........Ikea pencils are good BUT they are a tad small. I've tried it but I have to wrap the end of the pencil with tape a few times in order for it to fit properly, also it's a problem getting it out when it's time to change it. Thanks for your suggestion and have a safe one.

+memm Naturally ;) It's actually .22 and .357 rounds. The .22 are from a small calibre rifle and the .357 is from a revolver. I was part of a shooting club for a few months at university and they let me take this brass home as the shells were cracked or otherwise unusable.
