It is all about find the advantages that are the best for you and minimize the purchase costs. If you can stretch everything out, then you need to pay less. I was lucky to roll 2 resale deeds (23k points) into developer deeds by making purchases. That gave me more status that I would have afforded if I had only bought retail. I don’t know if hilton still does that

My top surprise, as mentioned before, was my EOY Wyndham Kona contract that landed with a free 2X points adjustment from the prior owner. My cost per point is 45% cheaper than a good baseline property like Grand Desert. One prime week in a 2-bedroom has turned into 2 weeks, and really stretches out when mixed with the off season, weeknights, or in smaller rooms. The next surprise was RCI, which we weren't initially interested in either. The last surprise is indirect, but we're learning to no longer be loyal to one airline. Alaska and American are great for international partners using miles redemptions, and Southwest is becoming handier domestically.

Thank you for the tips. If you do not mind me asking, do you own both points from HGVC wholesale and resale? If so, are you able to combine them to book a stay or are they their own individual buckets?

I have resale points that are part of hgvmax. I purchased $25k of developer credits and the made my resale into developer credits.

The ability to convert seems to be a moving target so check before you buy.
