My wife use to carry an LCP, she could place all 7 on an 8.5 x 11 paper at 21 feet in quick order, she like the weight, and size, I got the LCP Max, she tried it. Now I have to get a LCP Max. She smiled at the much easier to shoot LCP Max over the basic LCP. Oh, we are in our 70's but in good shape and active.

I bought the LCP Max about 6 months ago. Had horrible failure to feed problems at first so I sent it back to Ruger. Got it back in no more than a week with a whole new upper assembly:...slide, barrel, recoil spring, etc. No more feeding issues. It's a great gun. Hi, I bought my LCP MAX this year in February and it’s finally the gun I have been carrying on me all the time! Mostly in a kydex holster on my 3, but sometimes in the desantis holster in my pocket too. I have something over 500 rounds trough it, no cleaning at all, no malfunctions. And it’s relatively precise when one gets used to it. Works much better for me than both Glock 43 and 42 and I have tried both.

I carried the Sig P938 for years, until I badly tore my right rotator cuff. I then switched to the Sig P365 w/ external safety, and have never looked back. Tritium night sights are standard on both models. 9mm on both. No reason to compromise. I can hit clay pigeon targets at 25 yards if needed. A great everyday carry option, even though I sometimes carry a full-size sidearm as well. To me, trigger quality, sights, and recoil are all significant factors, and I really like both of these Sigs for that reason, especially the P365. Incidentally, I had never carried or shot southpaw, but was able to do this effectively with the P365, when I had no use of my right arm/hand.

I EDC a 3032 Tomcat. Totally concealable in my DeSantis pocket holster, and as Paul Harrell points out, while making a circular motion around his head, .32 ACP can be a very effective caliber given the correct shot placement. That Bond Arms Bullpup is no joke (watch a video on how it cycles - it'll blow your mind) but runs about $1100 new. There are a lot of mil-surp guns that are great for EDC. One of my EDC favorites is my Radom P-64 (9x18 Makarov). Comes pre-melted from the factory, is lightweight and the capacity is 6 plus 1. 9x18 Makarov being, of course, the Commie .380 ACP. Threw some sick French Walnut grips on it, and BAM!! A gun that'll get you laid. Or save your life. Both good.

These are the most efficient guns, but they're a handful. These picks are excellent for experienced shooters who can handle the recoil. For less recoil, pick guns that are a little larger or shoot a less powerful cartridge. For the size and weight of the Kel-Tec P-380 without the heavy recoil, consider the Kel-Tec P-32. Instead of the S&W AirLite .38/.357, there's a (unfortunately discontinued) .32 H&R Magnum that's almost identical in construction (but holds an extra round in the cylinder). And when the LCP Max is too snappy, there's the Sig P365-380. Much easier to shoot while still pocket/microcompact size.
@FriENTlyFire
@FriENTlyFire Жыл бұрын
I think the inclusion of the G42 covers accessibility while still being petite. When I was starting shooting handguns around a decade ago, I jumped straight into range rental compact carry firearms (like an idiot) and the learning curve was incredibly steep. I couldn't hit shit with the LCPs, sw shields, p238s, etc. After cycling through the rental cabinet I landed on the fancy new pocket Glock and within 3 mags was punching a ragged hole whereas with the others I was struggling to stay on paper at all. I purchased a 42 almost immediately after and have used it as a teaching tool for girlfriends and family who I've taken shooting ever since.
@samadams8355
@samadams8355 Жыл бұрын
@@FriENTlyFire sometimes I think it's better not to mess around with tiny subcompacts if you're a new shooter. Full sized or compact pistols are so much more forgiving, whereas a subcompact will increase any slight issues you might have with grip or trigger control. Plus, they can be painful to shoot. People ought to have a good time shooting so they'll keep going to the range and practicing.

You mention the discontinued S&W .32 H&R Magnum - just to say that Ruger still makes an LCR in .327 Federal Magnum that will happily shoot the .32 H&R Magnum, .32 Long, and .32 (Short). With the longer Hogue grip, .327 is manageable, but you'll prefer the .32 H&R Magnum with the boot grip. Great snubbies, these.

@@jayp4114 There's worse out there. A Bodyguard .380 has probably the single worst trigger I've ever felt on a gun. A straight blowback PPK in .380 will recoil more and bite you with the slide if you're not careful. I think the G42 shoots the best for pocket rockets, but it gives away some in capacity. The P365 shoots decently and has capacity, but it's larger and heavier. Pluses and minuses to everything.

Another excellent and entertaining video from James. He was seemingly born for this. My two go-to’s for daily carry are the Ruger LCP Max and Ruger LCP (original). Though they’re both very small for guns, the original feels decidedly slimmer than the Max, but only holds 6 instead of 10 rounds (plus 1 in the chamber). I love my Sig P365 but I really don’t consider it a pocket gun. Compared to the two Rugers, it’s bigger, thicker, and heavier. It’s awesome, but I usually end up leaving it at home. I also love my Glock 42 (it’s probably my favorite) but it’s also just slightly too big for my pant pockets. When I carry it in my back jeans pocket (in a pocket holster), the top sticks out just a bit. Since I want my EDC to be both comfortable AND comforting, I almost always go with the smaller choice. I make exceptions and go with something bigger when I venture out of my safe little town. I would add that probably my other “favorite” small gun is the Ruger LCR snub-nosed revolver chambered in 38 special, but how the heck am I supposed to fit that in my pant pocket. So that favorite gun usually stays at home too. These are the things I spend my downtime thinking about.

I've been carrying a Sig P238 in an alien gear pocket holster. Also got the MagGuts springs in my mags so I have 8+1 capacity. Really love how well it fires. At the upper end in size among my pocket-class guns (of those I carry, at least) is my Kel-Tec PF9, purchased in 2010. At three ounces lighter than the CM9, it's downright rude in hand, but easily manageable in determined hands, especially with 115-grain ammunition. At the other end is the gun I bought the next year for deep concealment, the P32. I went with Kel-Tec's .32 over their .380 for the lighter and faster handling, the higher capacity, and the slidelock. Every time I handle this little gun, I'm still impressed with both what it is and what it started. With Kel-Tec's optional ten-round magazine along, I have eighteen rounds available for a gun that barely outweighs a loaded 1911 mag. The "happy medium" in my pocket-class selections is the Ruger LCP-MAX. Some of my pockets accommodate it easily even with the optional 12-round magazine, though the bigger magazine and two more rounds in capacity do add to its weight. We appear to be in agreement that this gun is pretty much the logical go-to for pocket carry. I usually carry a bigger gun on my belt and one of these in a pocket, but I want to ditch the belt gun entirely and go to tucked-in shirts again. Should that happen, I might be rocking the Ruger strong side and the little Kel-Tec as a BUG. I've also frequently slipped a North American Arms .22LR revolver in my jeans watch pocket and slid the belt holster for my cellphone over it. With the butt of the gun turned to my left (I'm left-handed.), it conceals very easily, but is still readily accessible. Thanks for sharing.

Living in FL I pocket carry a lot during the summer. LCP II is usually what I go to. I also have a LCP Max but there is a noticeable weight difference when its in something like swim trunks or exercise shorts. As a side note a couple of years ago I was hit my a truck at 60ish mph while on my motorcycle with a LCP II in my pocket in a sticky holster and it did not go off. My pelvis broke in 3 places along with 14 other bones so it definitely took an impact. Took it to the range a few months later after being able to walk again and put two boxes of ammo through it with no problems. I don't know if I would call that drop tested but I feel comfortable with it in my pocket in a pocket holster.

I have everything from Hi-Points to S&W, Canik, Beretta, Springfield, Sig, Walther, and Taurus and I'm just as accurate with one as I am the others. I tried my hardest to pull off pocket carrying my S&W Shield 9mm, but snagging on draw was a constant problem. I don't think anything beats a J-frame sized concealed hammer revolver for pocketability. Benefits: Smooth draw, no snags, ability to shoot from inside a coat pocket. My current pocket carry is an SP-101 with the hammer bobbed and loaded with 357 magnum 158gr HPs. With the SP-101 I can actually shoot these accurately and even practice with 357s relatively comfortably. It's a little heavy, but a good pocket holster mitigates that in cargo shorts.

An ex-FBI analyst combined data from over 4 million citizen involved shootings in the U.S. with the goal of finding the most effective pistol round. Not based on ballistics gel, or fps or anything else, but based solely on real life statistics from real life situations. What he found was that most of these shootings followed a pattern of three 3's. That is that the confrontation happened within 3 yards of the target/perpetrator, there were 3 shots or less fired and the entire confrontation was ended or deescalate within 3 seconds. Based on this data he did not find one round to rule them all. He found a certain range of pistol calibers that had an exceptionally high success rate in their ability to stop a threat with 3 shots or less. Stop a threat could mean that threat was killed, wounded to the point that he/she was out of the fight or scared off. Of all the pistol rounds analyzed, which literally everything from .22short to .500 S&W magnum, he found that anything smaller than .380 (.32, .25 etc) had a significant drop in success with 3 shots or less. But everything bigger than .44 magnum had a high success rate with just one shot. And literally everything in between (.380, 9mm, 45, .357 etc) had the exact same success rate based on over 4 million examples with 3 shots or less. Scientific proof that... .380 is literally just as good as 9mm or .40 or even .44 special. In real life .380 will very likely stop the threat with 3 shots or less just as good as anything bigger.
