Winters are not that mild. Last year was abnormally warm but typically we get at least a couple of snowstorms averaging around 21 inches of snow a year. It can also get quite cold at times more so than DC.
@LivinginPhiladelphiaPA Жыл бұрын
I guess it depends on what you're comparing it to! But 4-5 days of snow is not the arctic, that's for sure. Here's the data comparing us with Boston and NYC for annual snowfall in inches (will go Boston, NYC, Philly). 2018: 51.0, 39.6, 25.1; 2019: 38.7, 16.7, 13.3; 2020: 21.6, 12.8, 6.8; 2021: 21.8, 28.3, 17.3 ; 2022: 54.6, 17.6, 12.9. Not too shabby!

Summers are horrendous, so hot and it rarely rains and snows. I am from Erie. I am shocked at how warm it is in Philly. City is beautiful and filled with culture.

Many people find the mild winters a plus! Looking forward to visiting Erie some day

Accessibility if the roads weren’t always closed off for repair or in such need of repair that you are going to get a flat from the potholes then accessibility would be good but it’s not

Climate well, in the summertime it’s hotter in Philadelphia. The most other places surrounding Philadelphia because there are so many tall buildings. There is no airflow. It is horrible in the summertime unbearable. There is no airflow in Philadelphia in the summertime.

Funny you should be wearing a Nashville T-shirt while promoting Philadelphia! Freudian slip. I've lived in Philly for most of my life. (I was born in Brooklyn, but that's another story.) Us "lifers" have a love-hate relationship with the city because it has all of the benefits you mention, plus you forgot to meniton a world-class Ivy League Univeristy (Penn), the nation's greatest music school (Curtis) and 5 medical schools, but what is good here is often offset by the bad. As you say, home prices are very low compared to other large cities, but that's because (1) the city has a higher poverty rate than any of the other top-10 urban areas; (2) The city is overstocked with small row homes that many might find unattractive for renovating. For entrepreneurs, the city has a very small venture capital community which means that talented people often have to leave here to get financing for their ideas and start-ups. Its 18th Century street grid and relative lack of expressways is great for walking and for preserving neighborhoods, but forget about using your car for commuting or even parking. (A plus in my view.) I could go on, but I don't want to scare people away from trying to make Philadelphia a better place--it DOES have potential, as we say.

Thanks for the comment, Ron! Re: the t-shirt, I don't dress in costume for my videos, it's just a shirt :) And thanks for the other details, I'll definitely throw them into some future videos. Have a nice one!

I own multiple properties, live in a beautiful city, and have access to anything I need right outside my front door without having to get into a car. California is great! But my life wouldn't look the same there.

Just to let you know, I was raised in Philadelphia. Spent most of my younger life in Philadelphia or Northeast Philly and when my children were born, I moved because I didn’t want them to live in this crappy city. We moved to the far suburbs. Philly is a shit town in 2023 and I wouldn’t want to live there for no reason whatsoever….! Oh yeah, if you’re a black hood, this is the place to be because you could be a criminal and never be brought to justice because of the AG…!
