In a cast of mostly warriors, one certain Autobot always stands out from the rest, and that is Prowl, the cold and calculating strategist. Prowl has become one of the most well known Transformers characters, and has had many appearances throughout various continuities. IDW Prowl has got to be one of the best written characters in all of Transformers, it's always an interesting read whenever he shows up. Although I'm not so sure that I'd describe him so much as selfish but rather he has a very fixed view on what he believes the right thing to do is in his mind and is willing to go to any measure to achieve this no matter the cost and often not in a good way. I know Prowl has his moments where the whole of the Autobot Army wants to strangle him. But i think that is why Optimus took on Jazz as a third in command. Otherwise i just can't picture the poor Prime managing to stay awake through hours, if not days of strategy meetings. I so can see this scene happening in Robots in Disguise. Strongarm: Prowl, Sir! I am your biggest fan i follow all your guidelines, read all your reports, missions -babbles on and on, gushing over him- Prowl: -.-! -twitch, tries in vaine not to be rude, inches away- Bumblebee: i know how you feel, Mech.

Saw that #1 coming from a mile away. IDW's Prowl is easily one of the best characters in the entire Transformers franchise. He really helps build on this recent trend in IDW's comics to blur the line between the typical heroic Autobots and villainous Decepticons, which is a really interesting angle. It makes complete sense that there'd be some morally dubious jerks among the Autobots ranks.

Oh yeahh Jazz is my favorite character! I agree with most of that, but I'll switch a few: 5. 2007 movie (he's a very skilled and awesome mech, how the hell did he die so easily?!) 4. Animated (much as I like his character design and personality here, he didn't get much screentime, so we didn't see much of him. He was supposed to join the team in season 4 but it was cancelled. I'm still pissed off about that..) 3. G1 (since it was kid-friendly, Jazz's personality fit right in.) 2. IDW (Jazz in this one is both fun-loving and an absolute badass. He's so badass even Ironhide is afraid of him. He also became Leader of the Autobots after Optimus died temporarily. He also had no problem proving himself after Kup said he wasn't impressed with his special ops skills. All in all, he's my favorite if it weren't for...) 1. Fall of Cybertron (his skills, his voice, his sense of humor, his cool head and his total badass-ery really made him make it into the top of the list.)

Prowl's my favourite bot of all Transformers. IDW Prowl STARTED off pretty good like his old no-nonsense G1 self. And I liked him in the stellar All Hail Megatron story trying to hold the 'bots together until the Wreckers showed up. But after they left Earth and got back to Cybertron and the writers had Prowl start that obsessive one-robot campaign to oversee and control everything...and that that had been his personality and goal even back in the golden days of Cybertron...well, I know I'm in the minority of Transfans who hated what they did to Prowl. It was the equivalent of how Marvel Comics treated Cyclops by turning him into a rebel because they wanted to shove Wolverine into the top spot and they didn't know how to write Scott Summers anymore...or just didn't care. The fight with Optimus at the conclusion of Combiner Wars was the last straw for me. Prowl, if you'll remember, is - or was - Prime's most trusted bot. As Jazz stated in Dreamwave's guidebook, "Prowl's loyalty to Prime and the Autobot cause is unwavering." He's there to fully support Optimus, not give him lip and plot behind his back because he thinks he knows better. And there he was, fighting with his leader, his mentor, with the greatest bot he's ever known as if he was Grimlock! Absolutely disgusting. I have not picked up and issue of IDW's TF since then, and I doubt I ever will again. Again, most fans like this Prowl, so the writers most likely will keep this version. You can have him. I'll stick with fan-based iterations. The ones who REALLY know how to write the greatest Transformer of all time.

I read the comments from lots of fan here and there and I think most hate Prowl in IDW, granted they probably still enjoy this version of him. I haven't read IDW, still on G1 and Prowl is pretty chill there so I have no idea why the writers of IDW choose him of all people to write that way.

I can understand why IDW Prowl was number 1 on your list with his complexity, but he is kind of a dick with 'the individual doesn't matter' mentality. Sins and More Than Meets the Eye end with Prowl going through a 'rebirth' process. And yes while he has been decked many times, it cannot be argued that each bot had a justification for it.

With his (often) cold manner, it's almost like Prowl is the Autobot's own Shockwave. Plus, any good story needs a guy who everyone watching/reading wants punched in the face. I only watched Animated after some of your previous videos touched on their re-imaginings and competent writing (the art style threw me off at first glance). Of the Autobots, Prowl was debatably my favorite (sitting tightly with Ratchet...and Wreck-Gar, depending on wether he's an Autobot or a rather confused neutral).
