...Only for some episodes, technically, And technically... The *same exact thing* happened with Tangled The Series/Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure. I mean, if Ash is "A side character in his own series", than that would mean that it would feel that way to a fan which... Is what happens in the Tangled Series. Which is relevant to my point because it feeling like, from a viewers POV that the main character is being outshined by the other characters, is reminiscent of what the TTS/RTA fandom is like, so if you know it, then it reminds you of it... To be honest... Goh and Koharu are just too good, and PokeAni fans are used to Ash literally being the main character of like every episode and episodes where he isn't the main character are too subtle for it to really feel like he isn't the main character of that episode. ||Whoa... There "are" at least 2 objective measures of rarity in the Pokemon world: 1) Shiny - Shiny Pokemon in the anime/movies are few and far between. In the over 1,000 episodes of the anime and the 22 movies; there have appeared less than 30 Shiny Pokemon. That is a massive difference comparison. We can't really use the rarity rate from any of the games as a rough idea, given that tends to vary and bounce around depending on a myriad of things. But even still, for the number of Shiny Pokemon that have shown up in the anime/movies to be that low compared to the number of anime episodes and movies...we can count this as an objective way to determine rarity. 2) Limited Numbers - Legendary Pokemon, Fossil Pokemon and other oddities are rare due to their limited numbers. It doesn't matter how their numbers got so low, the fact that now maybe only a handful of any of these Pokemon exist makes them rare by default. Are you going to sit there and tell me that Togepi, which we have never seen another of in the anime/movies, isn't rare? Or that something like Mew is widely available? There may be some exceptions in these cases, where there may be more than a handful of them in existence, but where they are is questionable...so they could be rare to that region.

rumour has it that gen 9 will introduce a new types, one of them will be the cosmic type (known as light type from the old official trading card game) therefor Goh's giant Magikarp might be the best Pokemon to introduce that new type. Clefairy, Lunatone, Solrock, the Cosmog evolutions and Deoxys and also that meteorite pokemon will all change into this new type or even become dual types, eg clefairy will be Fairy and Cosmic type etc

The main problem is how easily be earns most of them, but that's not say he doesn't treat them poorly either.
