Ash's Charizard has the ability Blaze because it's the only ability it can have normally and hidden abilities made an appearance in Unova in the games, so I'm 100% sure it couldn't have Solar Power before Ash's journey through Unova

Personally, I think abilities are sooooo underused in the anime!! The fact that we haven't seen Pikachu's Static ability since B/W is crazy to me, abilities could add so many fun dynamics and elements to battles! I wanna see all the abilities of Ash's Journeys team, and I wanna see Ash making the most of them in his World Coronation Series battles!!

Kinda interesting we don't see a fair chunk of these abilities that often. Only ones we saw a fair bit was Pikachu's Static, Infernape's Blaze and Greninja's bond transformation (yet this one is an anime exclusive/ original)

While not confirmed, I think Ash’s Snivy has Contrary since she doesn’t seem to get an attack nerf when she uses Leaf Storm whereas Charizard and Torkoal are seen getting attack nerfs after using overheat.

I think that more has to do with the anime picking and choosing when side effects of moves happen. For example, Giga Impact and Hyper Beam have been shown to need to recharge meanwhile something like Frenzy Plant doesn't seem to have that kind of drawback.

It is most likely that Dracovish has the Strong Jaw ability considering the fact it literally OHKO'ed Iris's Dragonite with one Fishious Rend. Because the strong jaw increases the power of the user's mouth involving attacks; Therefore rather than calling it a crit it can be concluded that Dracovish has the Strong Jaw ability

No as dragonite was koed by ice fang which is ice type move and ice type move are 4× strong against dragonite so even if it didn't had strong jaw, ice fang was going to ko dragonite.

Confirmed. Ash's Dracovish has Strong Jaw. It was revealed in JN118 which is Ash VS Steven in the Masters 8.

I always saw greninja as having a sort of mutated torrent since the initial transformations happened at moments of exhaustion, but through the unique bond with ash they were able to master the transformation. (Battle bond was just how they made it applicable in the games)

0:56 Pikachu only has access to 2 abilities: Static and Lightning Rod. I don't know if this happened sooner because I'm doing this from memory, but when Pikachu took damage from Lt. Surge's Raichu's Thundershock, that confirmed that Pikachu's ability was NOT Lightning Rod, meaning that it was confirmed to be Static in Ash's third gym battle ever (not including rematches).

Correction: Sturdy does not make you take less damage. It just makes you immune to OHKO moves (like fissure, horn drill, etc) and it acts like a renewable Focus Sash

I can personally vouch for the usefulness of the ability own tempo. I have had a Slowpoke in Pokemon ROM hack I had and many times that ability has helped my play through. It felt so good when someone wanted to confuse Bob(or maybe it was Bub)Ither way. Great ability

New idea for ash's pikachu 's exclusive ability in the anime (instead of psychic): Shocking ground - 50% of hitting ground type pokemons with electric moves and deal nutral damage. 100% in rain of hitting ground type pokemons with electric moves and deal nutral damage. The reason is ash was able to defeat brock's onix, blain's rhydon, hapu's mudsdale and many more ground type pokemon with electric moves, and some of them fainted by his electric moves beacuse they were wet.

So I got introduced to Pokémon games when FRLG came out and grew up watching the original kanto series. But as gen 3 came out and abilities were introduced i never payed attention to them and wasn’t until ORAS I actually started paying attention to natures and abilities to make my Pokémon stronger and a bigger threat.

nope those are not confirmed Gengar doesn't have cursed body, Dragonite doesn't have multiscale (could be a possibility tho), And I think rather than giving sirfetch'd an ability it will learn the signature move Metor Assault. Lucario is the only one who makes sense.

We can also deduce what ability torkoal has, since it got weaker after using overheat we know it doesn't have White Smoke, and it doesn't cause harsh sunlight when entering battle so it doesn't have Drought. So we know it must have Shell Armor by process of elimination.

It's not safe to assume Greninja has the battle bond ability since then it's ability would stay that after transforming and yet when Greninja turns into Ash-Greninja it's cut attack turns from a blade of normal white energy to a kunai made of water energy which implies the form has an ability similar to aerolate, pixilate, or galvanize which turns it's normal type moves into water type moves

Abilities I do welcome as theyr'e another element that make battling (OR not battling) more interesting: - Fave Confirmed Ash Mon Ability: Infernape's Blaze🔥 That Ability was one of the elements of The GREATEST Rivalry in The Main Anime in which out of the two Trainers, only One was able to TRULY bring out Chimchar's potential by mastering it and using it successfully in 2 great Battles through love & trust between Mon & Trainer - Fave UNConfirmed Ash Mon Ability: Greninja's Battle Bond🤜🤛 * An Ability that in MY Opinion can potentially go beyond "Beyond Evolution" when Mon & Trainer become TRULY One in Battle. Because of that, it's actually become MY Fave Ability in all of Pokemon. I just wish what happened in the anime ALSO applied similarly to the games AND not just apply to Greninja BUT ALSO Delphox & Chesnaught as well

I absolutely agree with you that Pokemon abilities are so underused in the anime. Still, Pikachu's Static, Infernape's Blaze, and Greninja's Battle Bond are my favorites from Ash's Pokemon. Personally, I think Ash’s Greninja has the Torrent ability, because of the final battle, you know, to see who gets to face off against the Elite 4, yay, that battle, where, instead of getting cloaked up with water, the water disappeared and I believe he gotten stronger. Plus, he did put a dent into the Undefeatable Mega Charizard X. That version from the games had to have a way to mimic the way from the anime, and giving it the ability Battle Bond was the only way. Anyways, this could be true, but, I will be holding my breath (Mentally) until it’s proven to be true or false. To me, it just feels like it’s the correct ability for Ash’s Greninja

Yes true moreover tailow's pokedex entry says that it is strong and determined pokemon which stands strong even before pokemom stronger than it. As swellow is its evolution it is even more strong so it could handle the thunder attack. Moreover wacan berry halves the damage done to the pokemon by a super effective electric move so it could also be that swellow had wacan berry which it used.

Ok so dusk lycanrock can only be evolved with the orange sky not with own tempo it's for anime and games and dusks ability is tough claws it boots moves that makes contact so for instance his accelorock will do more damage

Pokémon can't have two abilities (who knows, this is the anime maybe they can) But as we've seen other electric types do this, outside of Togedemaru, along with "communicating" through electrical currents I'd say it's just a biological trait of electric types

Actually it is confirmed that Ash's Charizard has blaze, as a Charmander its shown to activate against a wild primeape in the original series. The flame on its tail is shown to flare to life when it took a lot of damage
