Do you think the CFA program will help you meet your personal goals? Is it worth it for you?

Hi, thank you for your kind advise. Now, it makes me reconsider again my motivation to start CFA and I realize that I have not ready yet to invest my time in CFA at the moment.

It is a big time commitment, good to hear you’re thinking through the decision carefully

I almost decided to purchase Kaplan based on my feeling but it’s stopped when I tried to research the experiences from expert like you, and I found out that any advice from this video are realistic and helpful. Therefore, I decided to hold it at the moment and take fmva instead

@@hendrasetiawan7220 It's all very unique to your situation whether it makes sense. When I was out of college, I initially worked an internship but didn't yet have a direction or more specifically traction. It was a professor of mine who suggested I register for the CFA program which was the shove I needed at the time. His rationale was that even if you don't pass, it would substantially strengthen your knowledge of finance which was surely right. During that study time I had a nasty cold that lingered the better part of three weeks (worst week I made barely a fraction of the usual progress) so that's among the countless reasons you better give yourself as much time as you can to study. As that December 2008 session I failed, band 10. (Translation: Top 10% of those who failed. As they used to breakdown your performance to other candidates.) Compared to that one, it didn't feel like I put forth anywhere close to the effort when I took it in June 2009, fellow test-takers who failed December's also remarking that one felt easier. Which thankfully I passed. I chose not to continue after the June 2010 Level 2 (fail, band 7; so I think I was top 31-40% of failures if my recollection of the stats is good) giving the job market those days was abysmal.. all this being said, it was nearly a decade after passing the level 1 I finally got hired to a job within finance with that CFA exam specifically being the resume item that stood out. As they correctly guessed I had what it took to pass a bunch of securities industry licenses (luckily those I have been able to pass on the first attempt) versus other hires who failed them.

Hello Joe, I recently passed my CFA lv1 exams, tbh in regards to all 5 reasons I don't feel i fall within that category except no1, and not in the sense of getting a job handed to me, more like becoming a more viable option as a job candidate as i have no real finance experience but have a masters degree in finance. Do you think that is a reasonable mindset to have?
@JoeMaule2 жыл бұрын
Yes I think that’s reasonable! The CFA will make you a stronger candidate for sure. Just want to make sure people don’t forget about the other job search steps too.
