I am thanking you Josh before i have finished the video because i can relate to your expertise across different subjects and then the how to apply, logically, your channel i hope i can help in the future "but i always find" best not to make promises until that platform of support is in place, thanks again Josh much appreciated as are you and the content you create.

I really like these reasons especially #1 and #3. It just gives you an edge and makes you stand out from other IT professionals. I'm currently in IT Support but want to move into something more technical. As I search for jobs most of them like for you to know a programming language. This year i'm going to really focus on C# and .Net and see how far I can get by the end of the year.
@Geomaverick1243 жыл бұрын
It also future proofs your job prospects especially if you get really good at programming. In about 10 years most industries will have some facet of coding associated with it. Even today you can get hired as a coder at hospitals, manufacturing companies, warehouses, transportation, etc...one big thing is to pick a primary stack that is popular in your area or for remote work like HTML, CSS, Javascript, Node (this includes MEAN, MERN, or Nextjs); C#.Net, Python, Java/Spring, CMS/Headless, etc. Just be careful with jumping around to a bunch of languages too much
@notahacker21073 жыл бұрын
Why do you need to be careful about jumping around languages alot? Just curious.
@Geomaverick1243 жыл бұрын
@@notahacker2107 If your aim is to get a job quickly in programing and you jump around too much, you might not become skilled enough in one area to pass the interview...you will just have surface level knowledge of a bunch of languages...It would be like trying to get certified in Nodejs, AWS, CiSSP, CCNA, and get your Data Science degree all at the same time. You wouldn't make much headway with anything...But if your aim is to get a job in lets say cyber security and then tryout and learn a few languages, jumping around won't be so bad because you already have a job

Thanks so much for the comment. Really appreciate POVs from actual developers. It's something I've always wanted to do so I feel like I'm getting special knowledge lol. I think next month I will start practicing algos TBH.

Wrote a short script a couple weeks ago to ping all IPv4 Addresses. Why? Cause it was fun, and I learned a bunch of network automation and python. Now I want to learn to output the results to a webpage. Why? Cause it's fun, and I'll learn a bunch.
@notahacker21073 жыл бұрын
That sounds fun! Something I may have to look into doing, I kinda despise coding but I think that's only because I don't really understand it.
@joshkindy48263 жыл бұрын
@@notahacker2107 it was only like 21 lines of code for the first part. Really simple. Only took a little googling and a couple hours of figuring out the syntax. Some of those lines also wrote the results to a text file.

Good for you, and pretty cool! And that is a lot of IP addresses lol

In your opinion would it be better to learn django or MERN??? I'm in security and leaning towards Django just because of Python versatility.

Just depends on what you wanna do. I primarily went with MERN, but I'm using python to practice algos

What are your thoughts on what to learn? I initially wanted to learn python, but I believe powershell would be more beneficial.
@JoshMadakor3 жыл бұрын
Hey Shaun! If you find PowerShell to be more beneficial, definitely learn that first. I think I literally said this in one of my videos lol, "_I recommend learning Python first, but if PowerShell is beneficial to your work, for example, just go with that."_ I'm actually more partial to PowerShell myself and tend to prefer it. I don't know why :p

@roberttolito76653 жыл бұрын
It's worth it once you get better at it. You can then used what you learned and use it to learn other programming languages.

From what it sounds like, learning any language is worth it. Seems like you can translate things between different languages.

Hey josh what do u think about coding bootcamps? Any that u can recommend? Wana start coding but I need structure and to be held accountable. But don’t know exactly where to start.🤷🏿♂️
@JoshMadakor2 жыл бұрын
I think some of the bootcamps are OK. I would honestly probably do like free code camp or something first and get your skill up to a certain point. If you go in with the basics of how to code, you're going to get much more out of it. Some good ones that come to mind are Hack Reactor, AppAcademy, Code Fellows, Turning School. Do you need a boot camp? Nope, but they can be fun. Please just be able to code at a basic level before paying/joining one though :)
