I've had my phone since it came out with vlog kit I happened to get a great student discount something like $700 off. Honestly have not used the phone as much as I hoped I would because the battery drains so fast when its your main phone and also camera you'd have to have a battery bank on you. The cinema pro app is the best feature but doesn't work with the vlogging monitor! As for the using as a connected monitor for a dslr I never used it for that. But I've recorded fantastic concert footage. After having it for years now I still miss the wireless charging and hate when its humid or the phone gets wet it won't charge if it senses moisture in the charge port and you have no alternative to charge it. I fully charged the phone while at a concert and it was pretty much on single digits when leaving the concert after 2-3 hours. Image quality is great and the cinema pro is fantastic but can't use that for vlogigng. I think you'd might as well use it if it wasn't your main phone or get a samsung galaxy ultra. It's great as a portable minimalist camera. All my ports still work.
@thefitlifechannel20217 ай бұрын
Thank you for sharing this! I didn't know about the vlog monitor and Cinema Pro.I'm glad I held off on it. Mine has a similar issue to when it's really humid. It's very difficult to charge or transfer files. And the battery drains fast partially because of the Snapdragon processor but also the RX100 sensor and processor. I have the same issue with my ZV1 that uses the same sensor. I feel the PRO-I does best as a compact camera with a large display and can upload pics fast compared to traditional cameras. It still lasts longer compared to my ZV1 and ZVE-10 digital cameras, especially when shooting in hot environments.

@@thefitlifechannel2021 It's a great phone overall but if it was better with power it could be a solid choice if you want to be a minimalist vlogger. I don't think I could recommend now but it's cool to have something for quick pictures that comes close to a mirror less camera. The cinema pro looks fantastic. Battery and over heating in long uses really keeps it from being one to recommend.

@@JorgeHMartinez How do you like vlogging with the monitor? Does it add a lot of weight or you don't notice it? I've been able to get some pics out of it to match my ZV1 which is pretty amazing. The ZV1 takes really detailed and vibrant pics and to have the PRO-I come close sometimes blows my mind. Sometimes I can get the video footage close too. But as you mentioned, the overheating dampens this excellent phone by only allowing short bits of recording and taking pics with noticeable degradation in image quality.

@@thefitlifechannel2021 so the monitor comes with a metal phone mount and the monitor just attached magnetically the mount is all metal but still light. You're very welcome! The Xperia PRO-I's main camera and even the 50mm telephoto are still excellent even going into 2025. I did a JPEG/RAW comparison video recently with it and a Xiaomi 13 Ultra and the image quality is close. Both have their strengths and weaknesses, and I didn't see a significant difference between them. However, video quality leans more towards the Xiaomi 13 Ultra. Thank you for sharing the current price from Sony! It's definitely worth getting at that price. If you're familiar with Sony's digital camera FN (quick settings menu), the Xperia PRO-I's camera system is intuitive and not a challenge to use despite what some reviewers say. It's one of my favorite smartphones of all time and I wish I could keep going with it until it fails completely. But I can barely get 1-2 mins of video recording time in 30C+ temps before Video PRO or the PRO-I shuts down. My Xioami 13 Ultra can keep going even without restricting certain features like frame rate and audio quality.

Good day! You're very welcome! If you don't mind Android 13, not receiving security updates from Sony (but still from Google Play), need a display with 4k (for video editing and digital camera monitor) and will use the PRO-I for mostly photos and video, I would definitely recommend going with it. Especially if you can get it at a good price. But if you need the most current OS and Sony security updates, and need longer battery life, for sure the Xperia 10vi. I still feel the camera's on the PRO-I are superior to the 10vi's, plus you get a 50mm telephoto which surprisingly takes great portraits and close up shots in decent lighting. Both phones aren't great as smartphone focused devices so it really comes down to what I mentioned before. Also, going from the Samsung A21 to the Xperia PRO-I will feel like you won the lottery! I got this phone as an upgrade from my pixel 4 and so far its been great. I am learning the whole camera system thing so I cannot take advantage of it just yet. My biggest issue with it so far is that it doesn't receive signal well. My pixel 4 at times will get signal in places where my sony wouldn't.
@thefitlifechannel20218 ай бұрын
Once you've learned how the camera system works, its easier to move onto Sony's Alpha digital cameras because the quick menu is the same as theirs. Actually, I recommend the Xperia line first for those wanting to move on from a smartphone to a digital camera. And I learned to respect Sony's cameras more on their smartphones because they don't use as much processing like Google and Samsung and still can produce some really great images. You also have more room to work with when editing them in something like Adobe Lightroom or others because of minimal processing. I have noticed recently signal issues with mine as well but I have a feeling its because of the daily hot temps (may not be an issue of the PRO-I itself, but the cell towers and electrical grid being too hot and causing decreased signal strength/power). Are using it in a cool place or in a hotter area?

🤦🏽 not a single problem like this... Recording with the rear camera? Use the vlog screen is a better way than the others brands offer
@thefitlifechannel20212 ай бұрын
Yup, the vlog monitor is good to have especially if you do a lot of vlogging. But it can add additional weight and bulk which some may not like. Also it defeats one of the reasons the Xperia PRO-I is slim, its easier to carry and pull out of a bag or pocket. And for a quick vlog if something pops up suddenly to talk about, its faster and easier to use the front camera. The front camera isn't that bad in good lightning, I think most of us were expecting more from Sony when they sold it for $1800US in the beginning. Sony probably didn't think most users of the Xperia PRO-I would use the front camera often and didn't prioritize its quality and capabilities. The Xiaomi 13 Ultra is similar, great rear cameras but a front camera that lags behind others even when it was released in 2023.

@thefitlifechannel20212 ай бұрын
@@kip_ivo Wow! Thats a lot! But why? I'm working on a comparison between the Xiaomi 13 Ultra and Xperia PRO-I on all of their cameras. What I noticed is that despite the 32mp front camera on the 13 Ultra being higher than the PRO-I's 8mp, its binned down to around 8mp. It does have more detail, but in many scenes lacks the color saturation, vividness and contrast of the PRO-I's 8mp. The native pixel size is also important for a balanced picture, the PRO-I's native 8mp sensor has bigger ones compared to the Xiaomi 13 Ultra (1.12 vs .07-micron pixels) which gives it a better color profile, even in low light. I've noticed this with their rear cameras too. Even if the Xiaomi 13 Ultra is binning down its 32 or 50mp cameras while upscaling the pixel sizes, sometimes to bigger ones than the PRO-I, it still has issues with color saturation and detail in less-than-optimal lighting. I always look at the native pixel sizes first before resolution for cameras, especially since I take pics and record vids in less-than-optimal lighting conditions.

@thefitlifechannel20218 ай бұрын
Thank you for your recommendations! I clean my Xperia PRO-I on a weekly basis. I did try to include some closeup shots of both ports in the video to show nothing is inside of them. However the lenses for my cameras aren't great for detailed close-ups so may have been difficult to see. I believe the issue is subpar materials used for those ports. The headphone port appeared to have become worn out over time from frequently using external mics and also while vlogging with them on the move. The constant movement slowly wore them out. For the USB-C port, I have similar issues with my Sony ZVE-10 digital camera and Xperia 1iii. Over time from repeated use, they become worn out. I'm wondering if the issue could also be from these devices getting really hot, the metal from these ports expand and over time remain that way. I've noticed my Xperia PRO-I is more difficult to charge when it's hot, perhaps you saw in the video my micro studio was reaching temps up to 34°C!!!

@thefitlifechannel202113 күн бұрын
I've seen some sources from Sony mention they wouldn't have been able to get the fast readout speeds and 4k @120fps if they used the full sensor. My Xiaomi 13 Ultra using the entire 1.0type IMX989 can't record 4k@120fps. Also, the larger lens required for it would have made the camera housing huge at that time in 2021 which would have seem out of place on the thin body of the PRO-I. It goes against Sony's smartphone design philosophy of balanced and flowing aesthetics. Finally, the handling of the phone would have been uncomfortable and most likely top heavy with a larger camera housing on a thin body.

I appreciate your feedback! The whole point of this video was to show both positive and negative aspects of the Sony Xperia PRO-I from daily use for the past 20 months. Most reviews are only 1-4 weeks in length and they may not experience what I did. It doesn't reflect every user/owner's experience of the Xperia PRO-I, its my own. I waited almost two years so I can give my viewers the most honest, long term review on the positive and negative traits of the Xperia PRO-I. That's my duty as a reviewer, not to make videos for the purpose of getting the most views and likes. I know it may upset some viewers like yourself but hopefully you can understand why I do this. Most of the issues I brought up in this video, numerous other reviewers and users have pointed out as well. The subpar front camera, overheating and limited OS/security updates compared to its competitors, and of course the fingerprint sensor. Overheating on an Sony smartphone has been around for a very long time. When Sony decided to use a thin and narrow body and cram in hot processors, powerful cameras and inadequate cooling solutions, its gonna happen! Perhaps the one issue many will dispute are the ports but that could be due to the hot and humid environment I live in. Also, please clarify how my lifestyle destroys the phone with legitimate examples? It still works and I have found solutions to my issues. If anything, this video shows the Xperia PRO-I, despite the issues I've encountered still performs as it was intended for, a content creator's device. They're not meant to be handled as if in a thin glass case. I have recorded thousands of vid clips and pics with the Xperia PRO-I for my YTB videos and personal use in excellent & substandard conditions. The Xperia PRO-I can take a lot of heavy usage and keep on going even after 20 months of daily use. Most other devices would have bit the dust, like my Samsung Note 20 Ultra (my first content creator device) and its unusable display. No smartphone, camera, gadget etc. is perfect. They all have their issues, we find ways to work around them, and use their best traits optimally. If you watched the end of this video, I did say the Xperia PRO-I still has many positive traits and is best used as a camera centric device (which even Sony promoted). It excels giving the user the best photography/videography experience even in 2024 against "camera smartphones" like the Xiaomi 14 Ultra.
