That’s the attitude of any person that would be a slave... nothing special about African people in that regard. WTF?!? do you know the word Slave is taken from the Slavs of east Europe? Since Slavs were taken as slaves so often by Vikings and Muslims... I’m sure you didn’t...

@@JP-mz8xd i don't care. I'm talking about African beings who were enslaved by caucazoids. No one else. And if your argument held water, there would be no "slavery" because ALL who are/were slaves will naturally kill themselves before being killed by the enemy. All do not and didn't. So I'm talking about those of MY ancestors who did.

As a Yoruba , I can attest to the strength and liberating spirit of the Igbo people. @grace, we all know most tribes in the south still practice some sort of abuse of boys and girls. It is not exclusive to the Igbo people. I hope we do away with that soon cos I am positive it was like every other thing an appropriation from the colonizers and not an indigenous predisposition of any African tribe.

Fortunately the Ashanti tribe of Ghana not only resisted ,they fought the bristish 22 times and they eventually lost only in 1904 where Yaa Asantewaa ,the female Ashanti warrior was taken to Seychelles. The British lost 2000 soldiers and the Ashanti's lost 1800 .A peace treaty was made so that the british could live in the gold coast without the resistance from the Ashanti tribes .Their warlike strategy not only made the Ashanti empire unable to penetrate but stronger and unified .They understood the enemy and luckily the Ashanti's we're deeply civilised in their customs and culture .They had the strongest kind of democracy. One secret about the strength of the Ashanti empire was it's ability to govern in their democracy. You won't be a leader of an empire because the throne was lineage but you must be voted as the king as a result the Ashanti's were unified to their king .Motto : if you killed 1000 Ashanti's,1000 Ashanti's will come

“Kum apem a, apem b3ba” - “Kill a thousand, a thousand will come” A typical Asante (Akan) idiom. Am I surprised that Ashanti is #1? Definitely not. But one thing that people need to be aware of is, Akan would’ve more appropriate identification. Asante is a confederation out of several Akan states. But no doubt, amongst the Akans, the Asante are the most powerful, unified, and hold the culture to the core. In my opinion, without Ashanti, Akan culture would have been lost during colonial era.

@@aped I'm half Fanti and half Ashanti my Mum being the Fanti and i have come to the realization that my people the Fanti's were so scared and in awe of the white man that they would do anything for them whiles the Ashantis never wanted to even see the white man step a single foot in the their territory.Arrows were at the ready even if one hair was spotted but my people the Fantis were strategizing how to conquer their own cousins the Ashantis. And in doing so, slave trade continued and even boomed because most slaves had to pass through Ashanti territory and the Ashantis who saved most of them now was in no power to assist them.😭😭😭

@@aped you know people easily forget that Akans left the North because of the Arabic slave trade but not only to be sold by their own because these ones were paler than the Arabs? Our Ancestors rejected the Qu'ran, how come they couldn't reject the Bible. I have been thinking about this for a while now, what did the Bible present to us "Akans" that the Qu'ran did not? #inquiringminds

Or enslave them, other Africans committed succide or throw themselves into Wells, than be a slave of the fulani, because being a fulani, they end up selling you to the arabs, who sometimes sold them to the Europeans.

I thought the Akan king flatout gave up to the British to avoid a massacre(that was his reasoning)...and then he LITERALLY kissed the feet of a British officer afterwards. Disgraceful...his name was Prempeh

iTuber012 what are you talking about ? The king turned himself in to avoid his people being massacred he didn’t kiss any feet stop with your British propaganda. It wasn’t just the British they had African allies from far away as Nigeria(Hausa) and Sierra Leon along with Akans from the Gold Coast . Plus Asante just had a civil war right before the British came, so the army was weak and some chiefs wouldn’t have joined the fight. After prempeh surrendered Asante went to war with the British and their African allies one last time. At the end of the day it was successful the king came back the stool was not taken and Asante still exist till this day.
