Suggested Top 5: Some back yard shooting fun while being quarantined with our family. How about a family Top 5 air gun/rifle for under $250. Top considerations should be: 1. Accuracy at furthest distance 2. Easy of loading / magazine feed, 3. Quiet, for our neighbors 4. Bad A## looking or multi-shot capable(auto B.B. guns).

I shoot .223, .30-30, and .38spl a LOT. I wanted something for backyard, so I picked up a well- known, off -the -shelf, break- barrel. It's a ton of fun, accurate, VERY low cost can killer. I get all the fun of shooting, doesn't kill my ears or my wallet. 'Nuff said.

The Dragon Claw .50 has made several of the Top 5 videos and for many good reasons. One reason I have not seen in the videos and may help convince others to get one is that Seneca also makes a sister air rifle the "Wingshot". The difference between the Dragon Claw and the Wingshot is rifled barrel vs non rifled barrel. The non rifled barrel lets you use a "shot shell" thus giving you a shotgun option. This is for fairly close range, (25 yrds) small game and bird hunting. For approx $150 USD you can buy the non rifled barrel and the tools needed to change out the rifled barrel on the Dragon Claw. Yes, you can use the shot shells in the DC rifled barrel but the pattern gets disrupted and is not as effective as when you use the non rifled barrel. You can save a buncha money by not having to buy both guns. You can also buy a couple different chokes that will thread on the end of the barrel for defining the shot pattern. The Dragon Claw is a great airgun for me because I live in a country that does not permit firearms and with the DC I get several different LEGAL options for shooting and hunting. The DC can also be "tuned" and will shoot 200 gr ammo at 800 FPS plus.The DC is absolutely gorgeous, very very accurate and just plain fun to shoot!

Nice review Jacque! A very nice cross section of air rifles selected. One from each of your manufacturers. Politically Correct? I would have chosen differently. Most powder burners are not going to spend over $500 because of performance, shooting distance limitations compared to price. Then add another $500 or more for the compressed air gear for 100 yard accuracy in no wind conditions. Switch the Hatsan Flash or AT44 instead of Flashpup (ergonomics not good).

@@Diego-hr4yj what specifically broke on it? I've had mine for over a year, and never had any issues and I try to take care of my guns but I'll be first to admit I don't always and I've still never had issues at all, what you might be doing us using an oil based/petroleum based oil In it and then shooting it and blowing a seal which will happen in most guns of its kind. However I'm open to knowing what happened to yours.
@Diego-hr4yj3 жыл бұрын
@@LS1sLegoGarage ok so on the first model I got a bb got jammed in the barrel. I thought no problem this has happened to me before just slide a rod through the barrel as I did that slowly the whole inner barrel came out( I field stripped it first). So i was pissed and replaced it. After two days my new model got here,it was hella fun just like my other sbr then on the second day,the charging handle wouldnt charge the gun. Then I realized the bolt was sliding back where the buffer tube is supposed to be,I was like what the hell? I looked inside the stock and the buffer tube was stuck in the back. I couldn't get it out. I was even more pissed. And look I'm 14,I didnt do ANYTHING wrong. I have been shooting guns for 4 years and have been shooting airguns longer, idk what happened. I showed my dad he couldn't figure out what happened either,but I think since the buffer tube is what shoots the bbs (on a bb gun, since it has no firing pin) the buffer tube some how jammed on full auto and wouldnt cycle anymore. So yeah I'm getting a whole new different gun now not the dpms sbr,the crosman r1. And it really hurts me because I have been mowing lawns and doing yards for 5 months just to save up for the dpms sbr and it broke on me twice. I loved it,but oh well
@LS1sLegoGarage3 жыл бұрын
@@Diego-hr4yj wow, I hate to hear that, actually I did the same mowed lawns etc for that gun and was super pleased... I've never experienced anything like that with my gun, I've shot well over 4k rounds through it and nothing was ever wrong with it. Where were you buying it from, also it might be helpful for you to buy one of the newer models, maybe they're better and have had the bugs worked out. I hope with whatever your next gun ends up being is something that works out. That's super disappointing that it didn't work.

Top 5 blow back?
@geraldscott43022 жыл бұрын
PCPs don't count. To get a good PCP rifle, and compressor, you are looking at $2000-$3000. That is insane money. For that you can get a really nice REAL rifle and a ton of ammo. And you can't take that compressor with you if you are going out somewhere to shoot, unless you also have a generator to power it. PCP rifles are one of the stupidest ideas ever. I grew up with BB and pellet rifles. Got my first BB gun at age 5. I also have plenty of REAL guns. I have never seen air guns as a replacement for the real thing, but they do have a purpose. Just not those super expensive ones. When the ammo shortage hit, first ammo was impossible to find, and if you were lucky enough to find some, the price was ridiculous. Now, in 2022, you can usually find ammo, but the price has not gone down. It is out of my reach money wise. So I got myself a Beeman R7 with a scope, and set up a shooting range in my back yard. The R7 and scope were just a little over $400, not even close to what a PCP rifle and compressor cost. It is plenty powerful for backyard shooting, but still subsonic, so it is quiet. I was so impressed with that that I got myself a Springfield Armory 1911 CO2 pistol with blowback action, then a Legends P08 Luger CO2, also with blowback action. These pistols were around $120 apiece, again a tiny fraction of the cost of a PCP gun and compressor. They are also subsonic, and a real blast for backyard plinking. But while airguns are fun, and you can shoot them on a budget (not including several thousand $$$ PCPs) they will never be a replacement for shooting real guns. But for now they are certainly better than nothing, until if and when the price of real ammo comes down

For some this is your only option if you wish to hunt medium to large game with out drawing back on a 70 pound bow string, and for a lot of Europeans and others out side the US, this is the closet your ever going to get to having a fire arm, and even then the power capacity is restricted. As for your statement on accuracy, using the same professional marksman to run accuracy comparisons, I will tell you on average the pcp's will win out, based on the physics of it alone. As for the power statement, Using the standard 150 grain 30-06 round your Mausers muzzle energy would be 3.21 times the energy of one of the current large bore pcp's. Of course that's not ever going to be a contest.

Well let's see i can and do shoot with night vision/ FLIR and a moderator. Cheap quiet accurate. Your 22 subsonic rounds $$$$ special license for moderator and illegal to hunt with night scope. There is a pcp manufacturer that claims there 9mm is more powerful than a powder burner. Texas now has all hunting open to air guns. California has had turkey hunting for years. I do love a well placed long range group. But there guys hitting eggs at 200 yards. I live in the suburbs and close to a creek and hunt Newfoundland rats at night. And I have 2 pcp that I can't shoot in the backyard as they will go through a 2x4. The 25cal. springer/ gas piston does a excellent job up to 75yrds. As does the Benjamin sbd 22cal. to 50yrds. And I have not had any problems getting ammo. I do swedge and pore my own lead. Got to say your missing out. We take home way more game and get more follow up shots then powder. And can you just start popping off shots in the backyard or the house? And no ear protection can hear to hunt. I agree that the price of some is just way to high. My son inlaw said the same things you did. But I just pulled out a couple of my favorites and turn him loose then handed him a full auto and he spent the next 3 hours saying got to get me a couple of these. Oh I almost forgot the moderators can be 3d printer as no flame is present and can be made in ways that would be almost impossible for firearms. I order a couple for under $10 from thingaverse. There is the little thing that I can adjust my power on the fly. So if my rounds go sonic I just turn it down and no loud bang. How is that for powder ? You have to carry multiple rounds to achieve that. For most of my needs I find the 25cal the sweetspot between sound, cost, accuracy and stopping power. My truck gun is the vitus 25cal lever action pcp. I get 30 usable rounds before refill is needed. And is good for game upto 35lbs. Pcp are down to $100 but at the $300 to $600 range the best bang for the buck. No FFL can walk out of the store same day, or order it shipped directly to the house.
